This book is dedicated to Kelly & Caden―my legacy for a better world.
This work celebrates the independent spirit, courage and entrepreneurialism that Generation Z embodies. As the world changes more rapidly, it’s to be expected that the challenges you face will be greater and more complex than those of your forefathers.
Thanks to the advances of technology, and your understanding of its potential, though, you are well equipped to face whatever the future may bring. I know you have the inner reserves to delve into unchartered territories and to take this world forward.
This work is a tribute to you.

Authors Note
WAR ON INNOCENCE allows readers to undertake a journey that will alert all Generation Z-born persons (1994 to 2010) to the dangerous elements that will impact them along the road of life. Evil forces abuse platforms such as social media, using drug substances and alcohol, to name a few, in their quest to succeed in their goals of greed.
This novel highlights the dangers of the world of theft, fraud, corruption, prostitution and kidnapping, and is a signal to all members of the Gen Z era to be streetwise and aware, so as not to be victims of evil in the modern era.
Generation Z people thrive on entrepreneurship and creativity, failing to understand their parents’ belief of holding on to one job from after schooling until pension time. Their heads buzz with ideas, as modern technology enables them to create business opportunities like the generations of family members before them never could.
They look to invest their time, money, and resources in business plans, modules, programs and initiatives that their parents will never understand. It is this foresight and seed planting that create the platform for a future generation. In years to come, the children and grandchildren born of Generation Z parents will, like their forefathers, take this world to another new dimension.
The dangers to the Generation Z era are not unique to a particular group of people, country or continent. The evil is a worldwide phenomenon that threatens the future of all. It takes a lot of commitment and effort on the part of the good guys to outwit and outmaneuver the criminals. However, thanks to the likes of American Detective Andrew Johnson, South African Police Lieutenant-Superintendent Themba Yawa, and French Police Colonel Pierre du Roubaix, as well as several other brave law enforcers around the globe, the fight against those seeking to manipulate the Generation Z era will always continue until the perpetrators are brought to book.
WAR ON INNOCENCE brings you action-packed reading from America, Africa, Europe and Asia, as the good guys leave no stone unturned in their race to ensure that justice prevails.
The chase is on!

Chapter One
A Playback from Way-Back
The rain pelted down against Detective Andrew Johnson’s office window at the Washington D.C. Police Department. It was 22h00 on a humid Thursday evening. The tall, well-built policeman was distracted by the rapid to and fro movement of shadows passing across the windowpane. He looked up to see the branches of a tree moving in the blustery late spring winds, silhouetted by a lamp post on the pavement. Deep inside he felt it was a portent of something ominous.
Tonight was going to be a different night than the rest, he thought.
It was not every night that Johnson, known to his colleagues and friends as AJ
, was required to work this late, but when you are in charge of an operation in which telephone calls are truth or hoaxes on the life of the US president…well that is serious business.
The face of his mobile phone lit up, and he ran his fingers over the touchscreen to open the text message that had been sent to him.
Catch me if you can. And you will find the girls too. It’s all black and white.
AJ ran his fingers through his short curly hair.
Damn, he thought to himself, the Facebook Stalker of young girls is back. The one who had escaped from police custody in Washington D.C. three years ago. The same one who preyed on young women.
AJ was fully aware of the recent developments in the media, according to which three young women―an American, a South African, and a girl from France―were believed to have been trafficked into the hands of those willing to pay the right price.
What’s more, police sources indicated that the good ol’ USA
could be where the girls had been hidden. He remembered that he had their photos in a file in his desk drawer and took them out. He stared at the three faces looking back at him…
With fourteen hours of police work under his belt that day already, AJ had every hope of returning home to a warm, cooked meal. His children―a fifteen-year-old son, Shawn, and his twelve-year-old sister, Kaylee―were probably asleep by now. His gorgeous wife, Jennifer, had probably also called it a day.
The detective’s thoughts flashed back to the Facebook Stalker. The Nigerian, Stephen Yobo, the notorious Facebook Stalker, had a file of criminal offences second to none on the Washington D.C. Police Department Intranet system. Little wonder he made a run for it from police custody before the judicial system could order prison wardens to lock him away for life.
What AJ did remember about the lengthy investigation to arrest Yobo previously was that the Nigerian was the type of criminal who thought all cops were fools, so much so that he left cryptic clues at the crime scenes to spice matters up.
Yobo was a man of slim build and average height, but his eyes were what gave him away. The evil redness was present for all to see when the going got rough. This thug was a member of the infamous 9-Gang, a group of criminals that had no fear of preying on the largest financial targets, using abducted young females with explosives strapped to their bodies to do the dirty work. Whether it was Wall Street (often referred to as financial heaven
) or some of the world’s leading bank vaults, the 9-Gang considered their plans foolproof. They were too good to be caught out, or so they thought among themselves.
AJ’s hours, or rather days spent investigating Yobo, had led him to understand that the Nigerian wasn’t the No. 1 man in the 9-Gang. Maybe he’s an ascender to the throne, wanting to take over from his notorious boss, to be acclaimed as the No. 1 crook in the world, AJ mused.
The Detective was fully aware that 9-Gang leader Olusegun Babangida and three of his henchmen were being treated to fully paid accommodation and meals―inside a Swiss prison after a botched bank robbery attempt in Zurich three months back.
This meant that Yobo and three other gang members were still at large. The question racing through AJ’s mind now was: how much damage could Yobo and his three cohorts cause without the other five gangsters?
AJ glanced at his wristwatch. 22h30. He chuckled to himself.
Yobo’s getting a bit slow in his old age, he thought.
He used to leave cryptic clues on the sites where he kidnapped the young girls. However, there was no incriminating clue this time. AJ’s 24 years of police service had taught him to trust his intuition and to date, his intuition had never let him down.
The detective’s mobile phone screen lit up again.
Could it be? Could Yobo also be working the night shift?
AJ opened the message and read it eagerly.
Darling, when are you coming home? Your hamburger and oven chips are in the microwave. Love you lots.
AJ’s wife Jennifer had a subtle way of showing her concern for her husband, especially when it was this late and he hadn’t returned home.
More mobile phone on-screen lighting. Another message from Jennifer?
Your president had better watch his back, bulleted before he gets the sack. Tina Brown is out of town. If the USA does as it’s told, she will be good as gold.
AJ looked for the telephone number at the top of the message, so he could trace the destination from which the message was sent. The number had been blocked.
AJ was the last one to be reminded that the US president, Liam Murphy, a Republican Party member, was facing a revolt from inside his own party. Politics would always be politics and several members of the US Government’s top 6 decision makers were planning the downfall of their boss.
Perhaps the US president’s decision to implement HIV AIDS tests for foreigners entering the good ol’ USA was not such a good one. Refugees certainly didn’t think so. Nor did many of his previously loyal voters. Fail the health test and go back to where you came from, was the president’s view. The American health system was already struggling to make ends meet budget-wise, let alone worry about funding medicine for foreigners who shouldn’t even be here in the first place.
Little wonder Detective AJ was spending so much of his time working out which telephonic calls threatening the president’s life were genuine threats or hoaxes. Mind you, the president only had fifteen death threats today.
Big time down on the fifty-four recorded twenty-four hours earlier, AJ thought to himself as he watched the reflection of the street lights outside his window.
AJ’s mind continued to race. Why was Yobo so interested in putting a bullet into the US leader? How would that be financially beneficial to him? Surely the 9-Gang would rather focus on robbing banks to make a fortune rather than blowing away the US’s No. 1?
