About this ebook
Nate Beckett doesn’t expect much from life, and he definitely doesn’t believe in New Year’s celebrations or resolutions. A Happy New Year? Not likely. As the manager of McGee’s bar, the best he can hope for is a drama-free night. One glance at the sexy young man on the dance floor and that hope is long gone. Once again, his young neighbor Justin is back to tempt and torment him. Despite the undeniable attraction, Nate knows he’s too old and jaded for someone like him, so the time has come to reject Justin. It’s for his own good!
Justin may be young and inexperienced, but he knows what he needs. His New Year’s resolution—to tempt and win Nate over. One lame seduction attempt later, and he’s on his way home in a cab. Alone. But later that night, Justin wakes up battered and bruised on Nate’s doorstep, and Nate insists that Justin stay with him. The big, beautiful man’s protective and caring instincts are definitely kicking in.
Maybe, just maybe, there’s a chance for a Happy New Year after all!

Chapter One
Nate Beckett scooped up the abandoned shot glasses and headed toward the bar. As manager, he shouldn’t have to clean tables, but they were short-staffed. Two employees had called in sick
an hour before their shifts started. He’d tried to find replacements, even offered a bonus, but no one wanted to work on New Year’s Eve. The same thing had happened last year.
New Year’s was a bitch.
A flash of red on the television screen above the bar caught Nate’s attention. Seriously? Infomercials? Which idiot changed the channel again? He sighed. It probably didn’t matter too much to the patrons of McGee’s, but in an hour or so, he would switch the channel and turn up the volume for the annual ball drop. There was something about the vision of Times Square erupting into gleeful madness, a moment when everything seemed bright and shiny and filled with promise…
Until someone in McGee’s threw a drunken insult, followed by a right hook.
Nate sighed and scanned the room for potential trouble. The majority of his customers were well on their way to passing out on the bathroom floor or stumbling outside into the gutter. Most of them would barely pause between tequila shots to ring in the New Year. Were any of them really interested in anything but their next drink?
His shoulders slumped as he dumped the dirty glasses on the bar.
A happy New Year? Not likely.
Hell, he’d settle for a drama-free year. Working at a dead-end place like McGee’s, it was the best he could hope for, but again, not likely.
Alex, the head bartender, pointed toward the far corner of the club. The kid’s here again. On the dance floor.
Shit, just what I need.
Nate peered into the crowd, frowning as he spied the slim young man dressed in black. He would recognize that lithe, sexy form anywhere. Wearing melded-to-the-skin jeans and a sleeveless T-shirt, the boy stood out in a crowd. The boy’s got no sense.
Alex shook his head. "Nope. None. Is
