Watch out!
A man screamed. His voice signaled trouble. Brice Bender, who was staring at the quarter moon, turned in the direction of the voice to see a man wearing a black jogging suit running towards him. Unbelievably, it had been seconds before that he heard running footsteps. Brice faced a stranger that was so close; he felt the wind on his face.
He grabbed the hood covering his head to keep it from accidentally falling away from his face. Holding his head down, he tried to keep his face from view. It was a face that would have revealed a truth that he didn’t want to disclose at that moment.

The man’s black athletic jacket and pants blended into the dark background of the city. Turning his head to look in the direction where the man had come from, he found deserted streets. he muttered underneath his breath.

The stranger had suddenly broken the silence, not with a scream of dying, but with a scream of warning. He had warned Brice to get off of the streets. It was a warning that Brice did not heed.
The sun had gone down two hours before leaving deserted streets. Any form of human life had disappeared into concrete shelters or barricaded basements designed to keep
