Meditation is a wonderful way to decrease stress, improve your health, and just generally feel happier and more at peace in your life. It is a millennia old practice that people have used for many different reasons. It has been used to deepen one’s sense of spirituality; to help make important decisions; to sleep better; to improve various functions of the body; and to improve mental health.
You can incorporate the practice of meditation into your life in order to achieve all or some of these things. It takes some dedication and perseverance in the beginning but soon, it becomes a beautifully simple exercise to achieve complete inner peace and relaxation to a degree that you might never have experienced before.
The reason it can be difficult in the beginning is because meditation, at its core, is the art of completely and fully letting yourself and the entire world go. In most forms of meditation, the goal is to clear your mind of absolutely everything. In theory, it might seem easy to just think about nothing, but if you have never tried it before, you might be surprised how challenging it can be to quiet your mind and body.
All this is to say that your first few sessions of meditation will feel more challenging and difficult than you might have expected. It can be frustrating to sit there and try with all your might to clear your mind. This difficulty and excessive effort you are experiencing will be the first things you need to learn to overcome. Clearing your mind is not something that you can do by consciously forcing all thoughts out of your brain. Instead, it is achieved when you relax and simply let thoughts come and go on their own.
Release the restrictive grip you have on your mind and give it the freedom to settle and relax. Only when you learn to
