- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book reminds me about the significance of "adverse childhood experiences," many of them culture-driven and beyond the practical control of the people suffering from them years afterwards, which have a great effect on the long-term chances of young people who discover the "American Dream." Immigrants from foreign cultures suffer from similar childhood experiences, as do children from aboriginal homes who try to "make it" in white society. As a career educator, I shake my head. . . The more things change, the more they stay the same!
