    Many food campaigners have branded obesity as a fast spreading disease.

    To be very frank, obesity is neither an ailment nor an outbreak; on the other hand, it is an aftermath of our selections of unhealthy foods.

    All of us are quite aware of the fact that most of the food items that we see on the racks of self-service super stores were not present around eighty years back.

    Throughout the bygone days, many fat-generating ingredients of the daily diet plus the daily routine have threatened the human race about putting on weight. The human race has been pampering in overeating as well as consumption of unwholesome food which is actually a way of fooling around ourselves, totally forgetting that this only leads to gain in weight.

    The dearth of foodstuff throughout gone by times, had led to the suggestion that being fat and stout was favorable as well as desirable, however the prehistoric Egyptians well-thought-out obesity as a malady.

    The antiquated Chinese had always been supporters of impediments of obesity as a solution to long life.

    The Native American guys of Mexico used to allege that fatness was magical or ghostly, rather a mystery of the gods.

    The earliest civilization to record obesity as a sickness was primordial Greece.

    The very old Greek medical practitioner Hippocrates not only declared obesity in essence to be a malady but the forerunner of other diseases.

    During the Medieval and the Late Medieval period, obesity was perceived as an indicator of riches and affluence.

    During the Christian revolution, foodstuff was regarded as an outlook to laziness and sexual desire.

    In the contemporary society, surplus body weight is viewed as unsightly and is commonly associated with disapproving labels. Civic perception of obesity, however, is now beginning to revolutionize.

    Causes of obesity

    Obesity is a condition in which the body of an individual stores sufficient surplus fat to broadcast health hazards for him or her.

    The phrase obesity is an off-shoot from the Latin term obesitas, which in turn is a combination of the term ob, which means over and edere which means to eat.

    Inappropriate selection of food stuff

    Our food stuff should comprise a balanced ratio of fresh unprocessed fruits and vegetables (especially the ones bearing green leaves) sea vegetables (such as kelp) sprouts (e.g. alfalfa) seeds (e.g. sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds) beans, water (filtered)

    Cow‘s milk or that of goat (pasteurized).fish (tuna, salmon, hoki, mackerel) chicken.

    Fruits impart vitamins, antioxidants as well as bioflavonoid to our body.

    Vegetables are good resources of minerals and fibers.

    Sea vegetables (e.g. kelp) supply us with iodine and trace elements.

    Sprouts not only purify but also enliven our body.

    Seeds offer essential fatty acids to the body.

    All the fish mentioned above contain Omega 3 fatty acids which boost up our body’s resistance to disease and adjust performance of our body.

    Beans are beneficial for health on account of liberating energy slowly and steadily when consumed; they comprise protein as well as fibers hence are very good for losing weight.

    Plenty of pure, clean water should be drunk on a daily basis. Green tea is also very good for health.

    The medium used for cooking should be olive oil or coconut oil or canola oil. Olive oil contains a substance called oleic acid which assists in loss of surplus blab from the body.

    Fermented foods should form an essential part of our daily diet because they endow us with probiotics and vitamin B complex.

    Oats - a low calorie diet, if taken regularly at breakfast serve to liberate biological energy slowly and gradually throughout the whole day which gives a feeling of satiety the whole day long.
