Dutch Oven for Two - Melinda Abbington
Foreword
Eating is a necessity but cooking is an art.
– anon.
I’ve been using cast-iron Dutch ovens for years! If you are just getting started with it, you can look forward to some delicious meals. I did some personal research and found out how to care for my Dutch oven after I bought it. I learned to season it, how to store it and how to clean it. These are things you will definitely want to know in order to keep the meals you make in your pot tasty every time.
If there is one thing I must stress, it is that you should not use soap to clean your Dutch oven. Use the hottest water you can and scrub out anything that is left. Make sure it is seasoned correctly. This, of course, applies to the cast-iron Dutch ovens. Aluminum Dutch ovens are also available. They would be cleaned and stored like your other regular pots and pans.
I’ve surprised my family many times with scrumptious desserts. Friends won’t believe you can actually get something gooey and delicious like Brownies out of the same pot you made a delicious chicken dinner in. Congratulations on starting your Dutch oven cooking journey! I hope that this book provides some great ideas for your next meals!

A recipe has no soul. You as a cook must bring soul to the recipe.
– Thomas Keller
In this chapter, I will help you to:
● Learn tips for making delicious, healthy meals
● Buy the right products to use with your new Dutch oven
If you’ve been using Dutch ovens for a while, you already know how great they are. You probably already have all the utensils you need and know exactly how to clean and store it. However, if you are new to the whole Dutch oven cooking trend, here’s a bit of advice and information you can use to make your experience better than ever before.
Dutch Ovens
You will treat your Dutch oven the same way you treat any type of cast iron pan or skillet. Unless you are using an aluminum Dutch oven, which does not seem to be as popular, there are a few tips to ensure you get the most from your Dutch oven. Cast iron produces a distinct taste and cooking style that many have come to appreciate. It’s not just for outdoor cooking, though that is one of the main uses for these heavy, durable pots. It can withstand hot coals and raging fires while cooking food to perfection.
One of the most important things about your Dutch oven is the lid. It must have a heavy lid that provides the perfect
