Unspeakable Pain is the story of David Bardes, who was falsely accused of a crime, financially destroyed, hunted down, and immediately locked in jail cell designed to torture with hypothermia (shivering to death in the cold.) After losing consciousness from hypothermia, the guards thought Bardes was dead. So, Bardes was shot to feign a reason for death being other than from hypothermia. But by beating 1 in 1,000 odds of survival from hypothermic coma, Bardes lived to teach himself the law, and litigate three Federal lawsuits over ten years to bring an end to hypothermic torture.
