Why God? A Dream. A Fantasy. A Nightmare - Windsor Queensborough

    Chapter One

    "Are you ready?"

    Yes. I’m ready, she replies.

They release their embrace at the foot of the giant four-poster bed in the bridal suite of the Regency Hotel. Brooklyn’s eyes follow Ky into the bathroom, and she purses her lips. Her anticipation has raised another level, having never found herself this close to him before, or to what is about to come.

She sits on the bed and smiles at her reflection in the ornate gold framed mirror hanging over the marble fireplace. Her eyes move upwards and she loses herself in the intricacy of the ceiling rose from which hangs the gold light fitting hosting two dozen candle shaped bulbs. To the right is the ivory chaise longue and matching tub chair and dressing table. Further in the corner cupboard doors hide the obligatory flat screen television.

On the opposite wall is more of the satin covered paneling that continues the gold and ivory theme over all the walls, all the way to the main and bathroom doors. The bathroom door is flanked behind two thick marble pillars. As she runs her eyes up and down the pillars, she permits herself to imagine strolling over and stroking the smooth hard surface.

Oooh Brooklyn, what are you like?

Brooklyn smiles as she moves around the bed to the side nearest the bathroom door. She runs her fingers over the luxurious bed covering while admiring the fine white lace and the burnt gold velour drapes that hang from the ceiling. Her undone satin negligee slides to the floor, and she pulls the bed covers back, laying on the bed dressed only in her red babydoll outfit. She is trying desperately to slow her heart rate with deep breaths.

Well Mrs Wright, this is it. Oh my gosh I’m so nervous. I can’t believe we’re here. Alone. And it’s about to happen. My stomach. Oh my. Shall I turn the lights off? No, I want to see him. And I want him to see me.

She closes her eyes and her mind replays her big day. Everything was near enough perfect, the way she had always dreamed her wedding day would be. The service at church, the pictures in the park, the wedding breakfast. Even the cake held up in the heat. She thinks of Mom and Dad, and how good it was to see them together again, if only for the day. She remembers crying at his speech. He always had a way with words and knew exactly what to say. He could fix anything just by the things he would say to her. It made their break up as traumatic as it was unexpected. She remembers how her baby sister Chelsea struggled with it. She herself had found it difficult enough, let alone a ten-year-old girl. At least it brought them together and bridged the nine-year age gap in a way nothing else could have.

If Mom would only let him talk to her. She dares to dream they may still find a way for them to be back together.

What’s he doing in there so long? I can’t wait. Yes I can. Oh my goodness I’m talking foolishness. I hope he likes my outfit. Ha, Colleen says it won’t be on for long. Am I showing too much? Too much? Don’t be daft. He’s going to see everything! Why am I tingling already and he hasn’t even touched me yet? Oh gosh that kiss just. Hmmmm. I can’t wait.

I hope he’s gentle. Everyone says it hurts the first time. Twenty two and this is my first time! But I’m glad I waited. Waited for the right one, the right moment. It's so romantic. So perfect.

Sounds like he’s coming out. Oh my stomach! It better not rumble. He’s here. Wow! That body! Fabulous. Wait, are we supposed to pray first? Too late he’s loosing his tow.... oh... my... Lord! What on earth? Is that even real? Good grief, how is that... there’s no way... oh no he’s caught me staring. Wow. Ok. Ok. Here he comes. Ok. Ok.

As he approaches the bed his smile changes, eyes narrowing. He reaches down and kisses her on the lips. Her brain struggles to process the messages coming in from all over her body. Her nostrils are drowning in his
