    Chapter One Failure

The website had a spate of hits on Tuesday, but nothing for the rest of the week. No hits meant no inquiries. Inquiries generated bookings, which turned into money, and a lack of cash flow was an unbearable possibility. The phone only rang with disappointing news of more shows being postponed or cancelled. The year had been tough, and bookings were thin. Magic Mo was becoming Slow Mo. It was painful to see the business he had fought so hard to build enter a steady decline. Mo had hoped his glory days would last forever .

Hey, Mo, long time no speak. How are you, buddy? Jack answered in what Mo recognized as his telephone voice. From Jack's tone, Mo knew something was wrong.

I’m good, thanks for asking. Hey, work is a little slow. Any chance you can ask around for me? asked Mo, trying his best to sound relaxed. He had gotten straight to the point, but he was met with a few seconds of silence.

Oh, said Jack, releasing a large sigh. You know, things are slow all around. Immediately, Mo knew that he was
