About this ebook
Here is your chance to discover the absolute joy and sense of fulfilment which you will get from learning to play one of the world's most popular instruments. This is not an academic course, it is primarily a course with one aim - to get you playing and enjoying this instrument as quickly as possible.
This is the very same course that I teach on a weekly basis to my face to face students, the only main difference is that they pay an awful lot more for it!
It takes you step by step from complete beginner to a very acceptable level of playing. And no, you won't be able to play like Eric Clapton overnight, but you will be learning, step by step, how to play and produce very nice songs and melodies which will be the envy of your family and friends.
Being able to play the guitar opens up a whole new world to you, and speaking from personal experience, it is a world which I have never regretted entering.
Come and join me and see for yourself.

Guitar Playing Made Easy Beginners Course - John Charles
Introduction
First of all, let me welcome you to this course, and I am delighted that you have decided to join the ranks of those who not only listen to the guitar, and to guitar players, but who actually play the guitar for themselves.
And, make no mistake about it, you will be doing just that, providing you follow my instructions, and stick with the course.
I have taught literally hundreds upon hundreds of students, most of whom have been complete beginners, and I have seen them going from zero knowledge of playing to be- coming quite accomplished players, and I am confident that this will be the case with you also, providing, as I said earlier, that you follow my instructions, and stick with the course.
You will discover that this course is quite unique, and is very different to any other ‘learn to play guitar’ type of instruction that is available today, and the way that it is unique and different will become apparent as you progress through the lessons which follow.
The course has been written and arranged so as to provide you with a basic all round knowledge and understanding of how to play the guitar – which of course is why you bought it in the first place.
But on top of that, I will also be teaching you so that not only will you enjoy hear- ing yourself play, but you will be able to bring pleasure to other people also with your music.
I have not padded this out in order to make it look like a large package, neither have I added in what I consider to be unnecessary waffle. I just tell you what you need to know in order to get playing.
It is most important that you follow carefully the instructions as they are given, but more important still is that you apply what you are being told to your guitar, by means
of regular practice. And when I say regular I do not just mean now and again when you feel like it, but I mean every day, and for about 20 minutes a day.
The first chapter you will see is about the guitar itself, the different types available and what you need to know before you make that all important purchase of your first in- strument. Please read this chapter even if you have a guitar.
So, with that introduction, let me wish you very happy playing.
Your friend

image3Types Of Guitar
There are basically two main types of guitar available – the Spanish or Classic guitar, and the Plectrum guitar. However, within those two main categories there are a number of sub-categories, and I want to talk about all of these so that you are aware of what is available.
But first of all, a very short story, which has a meaning for us.
If I went in to a bicycle shop and said to the assistant, I want a bike, he would probably ask me what sort of bike I wanted.
If I looked at him blankly he would ask me what
