7 Billion Gods: Humans Above All
()
About this ebook
"You are the Jehovah of goodness, Allah of brotherhood, Buddha of reasoning and Krishna of love. And that's more than enough gods, that the world will ever need."
Abhijit Naskar has always been hailed by the world as a humanitarian thinker who has lifted the human spirit with his numerous works of Neuroscience and Humanism, whether it is with his series on the neuropsychology of religion entitled "Neurotheology Series", or his most recent "Humanism Series". In 7 Billion Gods, Naskar further reinforces the soul of humanity by proclaiming the humans as the only living gods on earth. In this book, he has most gloriously attempted to replace the dogmatic notion of a Supernatural Entity as a guardian figure, with the glorious elements of humanism and gives a call to the humans to become the guardians themselves empowered by the force of love and conscience.

Godliness matters, not God

Ever since the rise of fear in the hominid psyche, one way or another, the grounds for an ever-active anti-fear mechanism was being prepared in the soft soil of consciousness by the process of natural selection. It is a process that deems survival potential as the only measure for existence. And by this measure, the anti-fear, anti-anxiety, anti-depressant mechanism, which later humans named God
, proved to be extremely effective.
It delivered solace to the scared psyche of the early humans in their times of utter distress. In the midst of darkness, this one imaginative idea gave them light and hope. Hence the effect still runs quite strong in the veins of modern humans. That is why it is so damn hard to get humanity rid of its imaginary idea of an omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient being looking after human life.
Nature deemed God worthy and hence chose it as her slave to serve the humans appearing as the master. Nature selected it to serve the purpose of survival in the human society. But that choice of natural selection was made in the wild when we used to be primitive creatures. Today, we no longer are primitive, as far as our style of living goes.
We are today civilized beings - most of us anyways. We can think for ourselves. We can judge our feelings for ourselves. We have even devised medical enigma to deal with our internal stress and anxiety by ourselves. We have developed therapeutic procedures to lessen our emotional burden of living. At this point, the question that I must ask is - is the idea of an imaginary supreme guardian figure still worthy in the society of civilized and advanced humanity, or is it time to focus our attention on things more valuable, productive and progressive than a personalized placebo?
God evolved in the human mind as Nature's anti-dote to misery. But, the point is, this very idea has caused more bloodshed in human history than any other. One group worships an imaginary duck, and another an imaginary rabbit. Then these two groups fight among each other, for they truly believe that their God is the only true God, and therefore, anybody else who does not follow that God must be either converted or killed.
Mankind has slaughtered in the name of divine righteousness countless souls of their own kind. And still they keep on doing the same either directly or indirectly. Why? Because they deem ideology to be more precious than humans. To humanity, till this day and age, humans are expendable, but their imaginary idea of God is not.
And as long as humans are not lifted up to the level of God, no God shall be able to deliver humanity from its self-created doom of fake religiousness and illusory righteousness. You as a human being must lift yourself up to the level of a God, and then help others to do the same. And once the world has enough living Gods, it's imaginary Gods will begin to vanish.
It's time that illusions, shadows and imaginations are replaced with the irrefutable value of human existence. Humanism must reign over the human world, if it is to be an abode of true peace and harmony.
Remember, godliness of living humans
