    Part 1 A Warning

Hey babe I said I don’t like the look of this on the news and my wife said what do you mean and I continued to explain to her there has been a massive build up of troops on the border of North Korea and it does not look good and she said oh I am sure it will all be fine love no one wants a war do they not when they have nuclear weapons and with a sigh I thought I hope so but I wasn’t as sure as she was.

I am Mike just a normal guy who works as a plumber and my wife works for the local council and we live just outside Birmingham. We have children Matt and Lilly and my boy is 15 and my girl is 12 going on 40 and think she is the boss of the house. Matt has always dreamed of flying helicopters in the army and he had been in air cadets since he had been 13 and both myself and his mother had always tried to help pay for some lessons for him so he could achieve his dream. I made him work for it though coming out with me on jobs and fetching and carrying things for me and I would allow him to do some pipe work too and he is getting quite good at it. My wife Lorraine well I fell in love with her the moment I set eyes on her at school and we have been inseparable since. We got married when we were 18 and were told no way you two will last and how wrong they all were as we approached our 20th wedding anniversary.

Now I am not saying we don’t row or have our ups and downs but we quickly get over them and just move on and don’t dwell on the things we cant do much about. We have struggled me being a plumber work has its ups and downs and Lorraine has

taken up the slack when times are hard as her job is much more stable than mine is. However I managed to get a contract with a local company and even have a couple of employees now and financially we are great but we don’t take that for granted and always put some away for a rainy day which is a phrase I never got because its always bloody raining in England. We have our own house well its mortgaged so its the banks house for a few years yet but in general things are good so all this going on abroad is very scary. My daughter Lilly well she is a typical 12 year old really all make up and American TV programmes and all the social media stuff I detest.

I thought I would stay up for a while tonight so I could see the news as when the children are in bed or in their rooms which my son always was and you just follow the smell of socks to find him. I swear that child drives me mad as he wants to join the army and his room is a place that should come with a government health warning. His socks could stand up in the corner of the room by themselves and I am tired of telling him now and just getting a grunt out of him and I am told he is just a typical teenager well when I was a teenager I would have been too scared to say no to my parents for fear of being fed bread and water for a week as my father often threatened. My daughter was just as bad as when her washing is done she tries things on after they have been washed she just throws them on the floor and how she manages to get more make up on the mirror than her face is beyond me but
