Meditation For Beginners
You've seen them at work or at play. There is that person that used to look harried or stressed but now they have a look of complete peace.
Some will say they did it with prayer. And some will say they did it with meditation.
You may have different reasons for meditating. Some want to calm the storms that invade our daily thoughts. Others want to get to know their own personalities better and figure out why they do what they do.
For some it may be to get in touch with the higher power of their choice.
The reasons are varied and don't have to be specified. The theme here is to begin the practice and undertake it on a daily basis.
My hope is that you will take this book as an inspiration to begin meditation. I am prescribing twenty minutes but you can start with less (because I know once you get a taste of it you will want more.)
Read this book and practices the exercises.
Pick out the chair, cushion or park bench where you will do this.
Practice it every day and you will become convinced of it's effectiveness, I guarantee.
I'm not prescribing meditation as a cure all. When you begin, it may not feel like you are not increasing your level of peace and calm.
Like Master Po would tell Kwai Chang Caine in the television series KUNG FU, Patience, grasshopper, patience.
A good analogy is a tub of dishes. If you wash them every day, it will become easier to clean them. But if you never wash them, the food will stain. It will become more difficult to clean them the longer you wait. The same principle applies to your spirit and peace of mind.
So don't wait. Begin the practice every day.
ABOUT ME
Despite my surname (Gupta) I did not grow up in a house that embraced meditation or Buddhism. I grew up in California and did not start the practice until later in life.
I did, however, experience some moments of meditative techniques as a young boy growing up.
We lived near an airport and there would be the sound of jets in
