Stress Less, Live More: Everyday Stress, Everyday Solutions
()
About this ebook
By his own admission, David Schaeffer is now one of the most contented people he knows. So why is he writing books on the very serious topics of grief and stress? A short decade earlier, he was spiraling downwards under a weight of stress that had accumulated over many years.
David writes this book from his discovery and recovery experiences. He uncovers three kinds of stress. The stress we choose, the stress that chooses us and everyday, unnecessary stress. He uses the tragedy of the 1998 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race as a backdrop for many important things we all need to learn.
In Stress Less Live More, David summarizes almost 100 years of research into this universal human condition and delivers it in a relaxing, sometimes humorous style.

ENDORSEMENTS
I am so thankful for the opportunity to review this manuscript Stress Less Live More. I found it such an insightful read. After travelling through the vast array of emotions described in the text, I can attest to the accuracy of the information provided within. The gravity of the things we experience in life is best seen after we have travelled through them.
Stress Less Live More provides a practical, informative and enlightened view of stress on the human body. Its detailed analysis and thought provoking examples guide the reader through the minds of individuals under extreme stress and anguish. I found the book to be encouraging, insightful and educational. Having suffered from PTSD for over five years I thought I understood this condition well; however, having read this book I found I still had a lot to learn even about my own journey. I believe this book will help people come to terms with there own battles by understanding the effects stress has on the human body, mind and spirit. It is an educational tool to bring practical help to many people.
Overall, a great read. A thoughtful analysis of the human condition, written in the vernacular with amusing moments, engaging the reader.

The big issue with the grand notion of not living an Ordinary Life
is that it necessitates an acceptance of risk and with that risk an expectation of periods of self induced stress. In Stress Less, Live More, David Schaeffer recounts great adventures and experiences from which we learn how to harness life’s stresses, manage them and corral our fears so we can truly aim to live a life less ordinary.
One of David’s great quotes for me as an adventurer committed to inspiring men and women to leave the couch, throw adrift the mooring lines and sail into their dream and adventure-filled life is "living long is no substitute for living well."
Stress less, Live More is a must-read, and equips the reader with essential tools for the modern day stress and anxiety-provoking lifestyles we lead.

I'm so glad to endorse this book. It is more than information. David’s proven posture in life is to continue steadfastly no matter what challenges come his way. This book is a true reflection of that. You will enjoy its practical and easy to read style. Enjoy!

Stress Less Live More
would make a great bumper sticker! Every one of us strives to spend our life in that zone but it continually seems to elude us. What I love about David Schaeffer is that he doesn't just have a good grasp on this subject, he also role models his advice to us. This book is authentic, honest, practical and inspiring. It is a must for all of us who desire to live our life at a pace that is sustainable for the long term.

Like everyone, I have been confronted by stress many times and in different ways. Sometimes, the greatest sources of stress, (like sudden bereavement after fifteen months of marriage) has come unexpectedly and at significant cost.
As part of a rescue team at Mt Everest I saw people under incredible physical and mental stress. Those who recognised the signs and knew how to respond appropriately survived. Unfortunately, those who did not often paid the ultimate price.
Over the years, and drawing upon his vast experience and wisdom, David Schaeffer has guided and mentored me, providing knowledge and tools to not only recognise stress in its various forms, but also how to be intentional and proactively work through these experiences. I have been able to draw upon David's wisdom to not only survive these times, but use them to help me learn from and grow stronger as a result.

Having considered myself an involuntary and unwitting student of stress for all the years that I can remember, it was not until I agreed to read an early manuscript of Stress Less Live More, did the years of self-learning start to form a clear, concise and holistic picture. This book delivered not only an understanding of the biological condition of stress but also real, practical and everyday strategies for managing it.
Importantly, this book also goes beyond the consideration of everyday stress and through its in-depth referencing of one of the world's worst ever sea disasters, explores the extremes of stress that lead to a need for an acceptance of a new normal
. Whilst my existence to date has thankfully not been exposed to the extremes of surviving a disaster, I surprisingly still associated with the concept of arriving at new normals, or in my own language elevated stress plateaus
in my everyday life.
From reading the manuscript, I now realise these plateaus were in fact physical responses to the unwitting application of a limited number of stress management tools. It is the conscious understanding and learning of the full array of tools found in this manuscript which I now find most powerful.
An engaging and educational must read for the modern world of today.
