Teacher Guide
Our resource has been created for ease of use by both TEACHERS and STUDENTS alike.
Introduction
Teach your students the essential life skills to prepare them for current or soon-to-be created jobs of the future. This resource focuses on Learning Communication and Teamwork. Learn essential skills on how to communicate with your peers and supervisors. Work together in project-based exercises while using technology and media to better learn how to network and collaborate. Use creative arts projects to learn what it means to be a leader. Then, practice with our role-playing scenarios while you effectively debate and argue your position. Give young learners all the tools they need to become a success when entering the work force as employees or entrepreneurs. This resource provides ready-to-use information and activities for students in grades 3-8. The language and vocabulary used in this resource is designed for a grade 3-4 reading level.
How Is Our Resource Organized?
STUDENT HANDOUTS
Standalone student worksheets (in the form of reproducible worksheets) make up the majority of our resource. Each worksheet can be used on its own with no outside resources needed. In some cases, access to a computer and the internet will be required.
For each reading passage there are PRE-ASSESSMENT activities and WORKSHEET activities.
• The PRE-ASSESSMENT activities prepare students for the activities by introducing the topic. They stimulate background knowledge and experience, and guide students to make connections between what they know and what they will learn.
• The WORKSHEET activities introduce the topic in a more comprehensive way. These activities extend student learning and present the information in unique ways.
The activities presented in this resource follow the 21st Century Skills curriculum guidelines. These guidelines focus on creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration. Along with the social studies curriculum and bloom’s taxonomy’s higher-order thinking skills, our activities emphasize deep understanding rather than shallow knowledge. We engage students with real-world data, tools and experts with activities that include roleplaying scenarios, project-based exercises, creative art projects, tips and tricks to succeed, technology and media integration, and much more.
