La Leggenda di Robert Johnson
Robert Johnson nacque l’8 maggio 1911 a Hazlehurst, nel Mississippi. Cantante e chitarrista, Johnson è considerato uno dei più grandi artisti blues di tutti i tempi, sebbene questo riconoscimento gli verrà in gran parte riconosciuto dopo la morte.
Durante la sua breve carriera, Johnson viaggiò molto, suonando ovunque poteva. La fama di Johnson si deve alle 29 canzoni che scrisse e registrò a Dallas e San Antonio dal 1936 al 1937. Tra cui I Believe I Dust My Broom
e Sweet Home Chicago
, che divenne uno dei capisaldi della musica blues. Le sue canzoni sono state riproposte, per citarne solo alcuni, da Muddy Waters, Elmore James, i Rolling Stones e Eric Clapton.
Ma la grande fama di Johnson è postuma e si deve a una riedizione del suo lavoro negli anni ’60, che gli valse l’attenzione dei musicisti dell’epoca e migliaia di fan. Una successiva raccolta delle sue registrazioni prodotta negli anni ‘90 ha venduto milioni di copie.
