Henriette Peitorchid

New to the writing market, I myself live in Western Australia with my husband, stepson, 3 children, one who has ADHD and another with low functioning autism. On top of my crazy household, I also work full-time, keeping my days filled and busy. I've been a fan of romance novels since I was thirteen. As a teen it was my dream to become a writer, but life took on another direction. So at twenty five I finally placed my laptop in front of me and let the words begin to flow out. Six years and a lot of nerves later, I have finally decided to give it a shot and see if you like my work. I am still working on a few different ideas for other books and as soon as they are ready I will put them up also. So for now I hope you enjoy!

My husband- who pushed me to reach for my dreams and aspire to more. You are always there with a smile and encouraging word. Love you xx

    Chapter 1

Hey On, we need paper towel? Pushing the cart in the aisle over from my brother, who felt it was faster shopping one aisle each, even though I went back down the aisles he ‘shopped’ in.

    Yeah Jett!

Sweet. Pushing my cart further along I was picking up a bottle of fabric softener from a lower shelf when a soft whistle sounded behind me. Ignoring it and straightening I placed the item in my cart. Hey On, what about detergent?

Yeah. I called again feeling amused for the umpteenth time. I think it would be faster to give him a small list, because by the time he finished I could have finished the rest of the weekly shopping, but his way amused me endlessly so I let him think he was helping. I was thoughtful that way.

Unusual name for such a sexy ass. Ignoring the man again I pushed on with my cart, sadly used to male attention and innuendos. Hearing Jett’s growl I knew he too had overheard the comment.

Ignore it Jett, I’m not bailing you out again. Remember our deal?! I called out almost at the end of the aisle.

Now, now love- the man began, as an even taller man with light brown skin and long hair tied back walked around the corner, clearly of Indian heritage wearing… a biker’s cut? That’s about when I stopped looking.

Dom, you wouldn’t have been bothering the lady, would you? Brown eyes that hadn’t met mine focussed on the man behind me who whined.

Have you seen her ass Chief? It’s a fucking crime to waste I tell you! A low warning growl sounded again, toward the man named Dom, this time from his Chief. Dom, still behind me grunted before leaving me alone. Finally, his eyes turned to mine, my expression cooled to one of dismissal. I wasn’t interested in men, I just didn’t need or want the drama in my life. I was still trying to bail on the relationship I was in.

Fuck me, you… I mean, I’m sorry Miss… His first words were spoken on a hiss, clearly, he hadn’t really seen me earlier. Not giving him my name I raised an eyebrow and shook my head retreating.

Jett? Don’t forget the bathroom cleaner. I called walking past the man who had momentarily made me pause to admire his beauty. The whole biker and Indian thing isn’t what I expected when I came across the town’s MC. I knew they had one, I just fully expected not to have anything to do with them when I moved here six months ago with my brother Jett. Unless it was through my work. Jett had gotten out of Afghanistan with a shattered shoulder and arm, he was still fighting his physical therapy every day with me, but as a nurse I had the patience to persevere.

Damn, okay I have to go back. Strong fingers wrapped around my shoulder making me tense, they didn’t bite into my skin, in fact they barely touched me at all, my skin heating with the near contact. My eyes flared up to the biker’s eyes who looked slightly surprised.

I’m Chief. He smiled dropping his hand. Holy smokes the man was beautiful. Women had to be fawning over him frequently. Clearing my throat before I spoke, so I knew it would come out evenly, I spoke.

I’m not interested. Turning my back on him he chuckled, the sound rippling over my skin, my nipples tightening in response.

Intriguing little Minx. Jett rounded the corner shooting daggers at the man behind me. Smiling brightly at my brother didn’t deter him. His anger had always radiated from him.

Onyx. Her name is Onyx, now you know it, leave her be. A large hand rested on my shoulder now as another arm wrapped around my body possessively, extending out toward my brother. He was making a show to say Jett didn’t frighten him and if he wanted me he would make a play no matter what. Some men clearly needed to get a clue.

And you’re Jett. I’ve heard of you. Pleasure to meet you. I apologize for my brother’s ill manners, he wouldn’t have meant any harm I assure you. Most of us look meaner than we really are. Snickering at the words, Jett glared at me but I shrugged. After all I was the one the biker had his arms wrapped around.

We aren’t interested. Jett snapped. The body behind me shifted closer to flatten into my body making me freeze. Jett’s hands gripped his cart handle to the point I feared it would break under his hands, before turning away and leaving me alone with the biker. That’s when I realised, the bastard left me to defend myself against a freaking biker?! I was a miniscule next to him!

Maybe not yet, I am just being friendly. If any of my boys give you trouble, please let me know, I’ll be happy to set them right. I understand you’re here to recuperate. Realising Chief was no danger and hating having his injuries pointed out to him, Jett continued to storm off down the next aisle. Lowering his voice so only I could hear him Chief whispered. But you little Minx, you I want to see again.

Doubtful. See ya. Shrugging his hands off me I walked away without a backward glance. Oh, the things I was sure that man could be capable of with his hands… that I was never finding out! Not my type. I’m not his either, I’m far from easy.

I’ll find you Minx. His voice was almost a laugh as though I was joking. I wasn’t. Finishing the last of my shopping, Jett was now in a grumpy mood and scowling at everyone he crossed. It didn’t deter women and I could see why. Jett was the only one of us with any height. He also had jet black hair- of course our parents were having a laugh at our names, bright green eyes and an easy-going smile. When he chose to. Sighing loudly, on cue Jett turned to watch me curiously, knowing I was about to do something.

You know what happens when you get in this mood Jett… Fluttering my eyelashes as his eyes widened, I smirked as his arms quickly dropped and the scowl disappeared. Picking up a magazine I flicked through it to hide my amusement. Snickering softly, he grunted, making me straighten and drop the magazine when I realised that was my warning that the biker was back.

So Minx, what do you do when he gets in a mood? The words were whispered in my ear and I breathed out slowly to avoid showing him any reaction. I felt various sets of eyes on me, glancing around I realised this particular biker was wanted by a whole host of the female population in this town. They were welcome to him. Flicking my eyes back to Jett he smirked and turned back to the register, clearly not attempting to help me out of this one as payback. Throwing the now rolled up magazine at him, Jett bent and picked it up a chuckle deep and low sounding.

My name is Onyx jackass and you’re far too close to me, back up. Snapping at a biker I wondered quickly whether it was wise, but the low chuckle that matched Jett’s sent shivers down my spine.

Most women wouldn’t mind Minx. Turning on him I raised a hand to his chest and pushed as hard as I could, though he didn’t budge, just smiled down at me. Dammit the man should not be allowed to smile. It did things to me, I didn’t want to happen.

"I’m so far from being like any woman you’ve ever met Chief, even if there were two of you I doubt you’d keep up. So, give a girl some space. Back. Up." Meeting his eyes, I expected to see humour reflected at a woman as small as I was making demands on a man as big as he was. Only his eyes weren’t crinkled in amusement, they were liquid amber. Before I could swear they were light brown, but now they were amber, definitely amber.

Fuck you are so hot. He breathed down at me sounding almost surprised. Rolling my eyes at the line I’d heard so many times it held no meaning to me anymore. Bending I slipped under the arm that now held my cart and flicked a glance to Jett.

I’m out, you can handle this, I got work and if I don’t move, I’ll be late. Jett nodded once watching Chief curiously.

Walking out of the market I walked at least a block before a motorbike appeared in front of me, I knew who it was, he was hard to miss. He wore no helmet and sitting on that bike, it was easy to see why he chose the lifestyle.

Want a ride? Shaking my head, I kept walking. Come on Minx, I promise not to bite. Snorting at him he laughed. Okay, maybe a nibble, but I’ll promise you’ll enjoy it. He was confusing my image of bikers, I thought they took and made demands, then took some more. But he was softly cajoling me into accepting his request, which I wouldn’t. Come on Baby, you know you want a ride…

No actually I don’t for several reasons. I mutter dryly as I continue walking. I was at least two blocks from the house. A ride would be faster but at this point I’d rather risk being late.

What reasons could they be Minx?

One, you call me Minx. Raising an eyebrow, I kept walking before stopping to turn to him. Then there’s the fact I said no. Then there’s the fact I’ve been told only old ladies get on your bikes, unless it’s a charity run and let’s face it, I don’t need charity and I’m far from old. Without realising it Chief stopped too, parking his bike and stepping off to face me. My hip was thrust to the side with my hand resting there out of annoyance I didn’t even realise the picture I posed. Should I go on?

Chief came forward looking more determined than ever. Sliding his hand up my thigh to join my hand I quickly straightened, though still too slow as his fingers intertwined with mine and locked. A small smile played around his mouth making my nostrils flare with annoyance.

Minx, suits you. The fact you said no means I didn’t phrase it right and maybe I have no problem with you on my bike?

I’m sure your old lady disagrees.

Don’t have one… yet. Interested in the position? Scoffing I pulled back anger flowing through me.

You sure you didn’t want to say, ‘hey let’s fuck and you can try out’? Chief raised an unamused eyebrow as he pulled me into his body. Hard muscle met my softer ones, moulding me into him.

No, if I wanted a fuck I’d get one no matter what. It’s not what I was asking. I say what I mean Minx. I’d like to take you home for several reasons also. Raising a disbelieving eyebrow, he growled. "I’d like to see you home- safely. I’m sure even you realise you get a lot of attention from men and I don’t like sharing. I’d like to know where you live so I can call on you again and three, maybe I’d like to see how well you
