Sometimes, you want to go for a stroll, thinking on how good it is for your health and how amazing you feel afterward, yet, you are feeling too lazy, and wish to watch tv set instead. You might be aware of the actual fact you need to alter your diet plan or stop smoking, yet, you do not have the internal ability and doggedness to improve these habits.

Does this appear familiar? How many times have you said, I wish I had willpower and self-discipline? How many times have you begun doing something, only to stop after a short while? We all have had similar experiences.

Everyone has some addictions or habits they wish they could eradicate, like smoking, overeating, laziness, procrastination or lack of self-assertiveness. To overpower these habits or addictions, one requires having willpower and self-discipline. They are very important in everybody’s life and bring inner strength, self-mastery, and decisiveness.

First and foremost, let’s talk about procrastination.

What’s Procrastination?

It’s done by everyone, including you. You may have important things to do, and you simply prefer doing them until the last second. If procrastination were an Olympic sport you might be a strong contender for the gold medal, you’re that proficient at it. You make jokes about being the best procrastinator with friends and family, revealing to them that sure, you may finish that job right now if you wished to but (yawn) you’re leaving it for tomorrow.

Procrastination is leaving something for later, either due to lack of interest or laziness. It’s postponing until tomorrow what you could easily accomplish today. A procrastinator postpones or needlessly delays completing something -just because.

Students are notorious for participating in this behavior. Papers have to be researched and redacted, the need to study for the exams, but none of this is done or even started until the very last second. Students who procrastinate generally spend significant amounts of time pulling all-nighters to be able to catch up to where they have to be or even to cram for the huge test they have in the morning.

Somebody who is habitually late to everything, from weddings to dates, is somebody who procrastinates when readying up. Maybe they don’t start to get ready until it’s almost time to leave or they move in such a slow pace that by the time they ought to leave for the event, they’re still way behind schedule.

Why do we let things slide until we’re in a time crunch and the deadline is approaching and we’re not even CLOSE to being finished? Why do we procrastinate?
