INTRODUCTION

What if I told you to vote for a political party that supports crime, infanticide, racism, and lawlessness? If I asked you to join this party or vote for its candidates, you—like most rational people—would tell me, Go to hell. You would guess I was talking about the Nazi Party. But the political party I’ve just described is today’s Democrat Party.

The Democrats have become the party of moral turpitude. And yet this destructive party, which feeds off of and exacerbates the very worst things in America, still has broad appeal.

Seriously, think about it for a minute. Twenty-first-century Democrats and the interest groups they’re in bed with gain political power and profit from aiding, abetting, and promoting crime, abortion, and racial hatred—among other deviant behaviors.

Yes, deviant. That’s what old-style liberal Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan—a prominent Democrat from the era back before his party ran completely off the rails—called the kind of behavior that today’s Democrats are gleefully enabling for their own political profit. I had the good fortune to meet and interview Moynihan back in the 1990s when I first moved to Washington and was working as a very green off-air reporter for ABC News. I was smitten with his no-nonsense, commonsense approach.

The senator was one of the breed of old-style liberals who actually endeavored to improve the lives of their less fortunate constituents—instead of encouraging widespread dysfunction and then callously exploiting it for electoral gain.

In a 1993 article, Defining Deviancy Down, published in the American Scholar, Moynihan revealed the dynamic that explains the modern Democrat Party’s wrecking ball agenda:

A growth in deviancy makes possible a transfer of resources, including prestige, to those who control the deviant population. This control would be jeopardized if any serious effort were made to reduce the deviancy in question. This leads to assorted strategies for re-defining the behavior in question as not all that deviant, really. . . .

. . . What is going on here is simply that a large increase in what once was seen as deviancy has provided opportunity to a wide spectrum of interest groups that benefit from redefining the problem as essentially normal and doing little to reduce it.¹

No wonder the Democrats today rush to defend criminals, illegal aliens, race hustlers, and even abortion clinic executives caught on video joking about selling baby parts so they can afford luxury cars. The wide spectrum of interest groups that benefit from redefining formally abnormal behavior as normal is a laundry list of Democrat campaign donors and activists, starting with Planned Parenthood, Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, the National Council of La Raza, the American Federation of Teachers, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the Urban League, GLAAD, and a host of others who have done nothing to fix the problems they exist to combat but have amassed a lot of power and money perpetuating them.

Over the past three years, every Democrat from President Barack Obama on down to Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has stood up for thugs and told police officers to stand down to criminals. When black Baltimoreans were pillaging and looting in the spring of 2015 after the death of Freddie Gray, a black drug dealer and addict who died in police custody, Blake said, It’s a very delicate balancing act, because while we tried to make sure that they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave to those who wished to destroy space to do that as well.²

It’s no wonder crime is up.

Fifty-five homicides took place in Baltimore in the six weeks beginning May 1, 2015 (the week after the mayor’s remarks giving cart blanche to the rioters)—the highest pace since the early 1970s.³

Meanwhile, from the White House to the streets of San Francisco, Philadelphia, and New York City, these same Democrats have given refuge to millions of illegal immigrants in sanctuary cities—where they kill Americans.

While Democrats may tell blacks that #BlackLivesMatter to them, the opposite is true. Proportionally more black babies are aborted than any other race.⁴ Nearly 80 percent of Planned Parenthood abortion clinics are located near minority neighborhoods.⁵

Time and time again, Democrats have come to the defense of the abortion industry, fighting for even the most gruesome late-term abortions. Texas state senator Wendy Davis literally became an overnight sensation in the Democrat Party in 2013 when she filibustered a bill updating regulations on abortion clinics and banning abortion after twenty weeks—though babies born at only twenty-two weeks can live outside the womb.

Democrats were so proud of Davis’s fight for a woman’s right to kill her baby that they nominated her to run for governor of Texas in 2014. A race she lost.⁶

Not to be outdone by little Wendy, new grandmother and heir apparent to the Democrat throne Hillary Clinton stood by Planned Parenthood when it was exposed harvesting aborted fetal organs and selling them to medical research firms for profit. While Clinton admitted that the practice was disturbing, she vowed to defend Planned Parenthood, which she claimed for more than a century has done a lot of really good work for women. . . .⁷ In the 2013–14 fiscal year, Planned Parenthood had revenue of over a billion dollars, performing more than three hundred thousand abortions.⁸

And Hillary doesn’t just cheerlead for Planned Parenthood’s baby chop shop. The Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation gives money to groups providing abortion services and supplies. According to its 2013 annual report, the Clinton Foundation helped fund four thousand abortions.⁹

As a black woman, I’m outraged that the political party that regularly gets over 80 percent of the black vote is in the tank for the abortionists preying on vulnerable black women—and for the government programs and alternative family values that have destroyed the black family. In 1993 Senator Moynihan pointed out that out-of-wedlock births had soared to one in five for whites and two in three for blacks. As he had already warned in the 1960s:

From the wild Irish slums of the 19th century Eastern seaboard to the riot-torn suburbs of Los Angeles, there is one unmistakable lesson in American history: a community that allows a large number of young men to grow up in broken families, dominated by women, never acquiring any stable relationship to male authority, never acquiring any set of rational expectations about the future—that community asks for and gets chaos. Crime, violence, unrest, unrestrained lashing out at the whole social structure—that is not only to be expected; it is very near to inevitable.¹⁰

The past five decades have proved Moynihan right. Remind me, which party insisted on redefining the single-parent family as a normal alternative family? The Democrats strike again.

Voila! A black family and crime epidemic, thanks to decades of Democrats encouraging rampant out-of-wedlock births among blacks as normal, something they’re just going to do. Today more black babies are born out of wedlock than to married couples—over 70 percent.

This Democrat-bred pathology has led to more blacks killing each other with guns and being killed by guns than ANY OTHER RACE IN AMERICA. And yet bizarrely, exterminating blacks on the street and in the womb and keeping them in underclass status translates into the Democrats’ owning the black vote. Black lives don’t matter as much as black votes.

The inevitable, as we now know, has come to pass, here again our response is curiously passive, noted Moynihan.¹¹ Instead of actually doing something to fix the worst problems in our society, Democrats perpetuate them for political gain.

The Democrat Party never lets an opportunity to race bait pass it by—because racial strife is the party’s bread and butter. When a few white men killed a handful of young unarmed black men over the past three years, their deaths made headlines. The liberal news media and every Democrat under the sun—from politicians to race hustlers like Al Sharpton, and including most notably our first black president—fanned the flames of racial strife, sparking widespread violence, looting, and the wholesale destruction of black neighborhoods.

When a white person harms a black person, regardless of the circumstances, Democrats of all complexions unleash rage, marches, protests, and riots. You’ll see none of this in cities like Chicago or Baltimore when blacks are killed daily . . . by each other.

The running narrative is that white police officers have declared open killing season on the black man—despite the reality that statistics and facts don’t support this argument. Any white person in America who doesn’t buy into this lie is called racist.

So it’s no surprise that six in ten Americans think race relations in this country are bad and getting worse, according to a July 2015 CBS News/New York Times poll. Some 68 percent of blacks felt race relations were bad. That was an increase from the 60 percent of blacks who thought things were bad in 2008, back before Obama was elected, when he was campaigning as the candidate whose election would bring America racial healing.¹² Why did we believe him? The Democrats have never been the party of racial harmony.

From the days of Thomas Jefferson through the Civil War and civil rights movement, racism has been the foundation upon which the Democrat Party is built. Democrats have a history of fighting for slavery, imposing segregation, and profiting off of racial division.

The Democrats pose as the champions of blacks, of women, of victims, of the underprivileged and the downtrodden and the oppressed—but it’s all a con job. In reality, they profit from the misery and oppression they complain about, and it pays them—in money and votes—to keep making all the worst problems in America worse.

This book will demonstrate in alarming detail the sinister dynamic at work between the Democrat Party and its constituents. One is selling dysfunction, the other gobbling it up without pause, as their cup of salvation. In the meantime, as Moynihan put it with his characteristic understatement, Americans are getting used to a lot of behavior that is not good for us.¹³ You decide which political party is the party of evil!

CHAPTER ONE

THE PARTY OF CRIME

At about 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2014, I was shopping in the Neiman Marcus department store in Washington, D.C. As I browsed the cosmetics, all of a sudden I heard women screaming. One female salesperson yelled, He’s hitting him! Stop him! Startled, I looked to my left. About twenty feet away, I saw a young black man who appeared to be about eighteen years old holding a Chanel handbag with the store security chain and sensor attached and hitting a tall white male sales associate. Within seconds, two security guards and the salesperson wrestled the criminal to the floor and attempted to place him in handcuffs. He resisted, trying to play the victim, murmuring something to the security guards that prompted them to ask him if he was all right. After about two minutes, the three were able to get the young man in handcuffs.

Later, the sales associates confirmed that the black man had been trying to steal the handbag. He had committed a crime but immediately turned around and wanted to be treated like a victim. But what gave this young thug the idea that he could steal a valuable item, physically attack a store employee, and then pose as the injured party?

Short answer: the Democrats.

Democrat politicians and their allies have given criminals a license to play the victim—thus enabling more crime. Democrats all the way up to the president of the United States treat criminals with sympathy, and the police with suspicion. Remember in the first year of Barack Obama’s presidency, when he saw fit to opine on the arrest of black Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, saying that the Cambridge police acted stupidly and bringing up the long history in this country of African Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately? Remember when Democrat New York mayor Bill de Blasio explained how he warns his biracial son against the police? The myth—perpetuated by Democrats in office and their race-hustling sidekicks like de Blasio buddy Al Sharpton, and sold to the public by their willing allies in the media—is that law enforcement is waging a war on young black men in this country, resorting to unjustified racial profiling, and putting innocent unarmed black men in constant jeopardy of being shot by the police.

But this is just a convenient fiction—convenient to the Democrats who want to keep the black vote they’ve had for fifty years on lockdown by inflaming racial grievances. The reality is that young black men are targeted by the police for a simple reason—because, tragically, they commit more crime than their fellow citizens.

The District of Columbia police department’s Twitter feed reflects this same reality. One glance at it reveals innumerable references to B/M (black male) suspects. While the Democrats would have Americans believe blacks are being singled out by racist police, @DCPoliceDept tells a very different story. Without exception, every day the D.C. police department’s Twitter feed is mostly populated with descriptions of black male suspects wanted for shootings and robberies. Here is a sample of the department’s tweets:¹

If black males weren’t the ones committing so much crime in D.C. and other cities across the nation, perhaps police officers and citizens wouldn’t view them with as much suspicion. It is really that simple. The eyewitness descriptions of suspects included in the above D.C. police department tweets indicate the suspects are black males. Why should D.C. police officers go looking for white males who don’t fit the description? They shouldn’t because that would be STUPID.

But Democrats approach violent crime in America by making excuses for the criminals rather than doing anything to stop them. Democrats love themselves some criminals! In Democrats’ minds, the thug is always right even when he’s wrong. They will do anything and everything to take the side of the thug over law enforcement or the victim.

And that includes black victims. As a matter of fact, the Democrats’ loyal black voters suffer more than white Americans do from the criminals the Democrats have enabled to terrorize our nation’s cities. This demonstrates that black lives really don’t matter to Democrats. Blacks aren’t as scared of white people harming or killing them as they are scared of other blacks. During the summer of 2013, when the trial for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin took place in Sanford, Florida, I provided commentary for HLN’s Dr. Drew on Call and some CNN programs. One evening after my appearance on Dr. Drew on Call, a black security guard working in CNN’s D.C. bureau walked me to my car. We chatted about the case, as we sometimes did after my appearances, and he told me, When I get off of work and walk out here at night, who do you think I’m afraid of on the streets? It’s not the white guys walking around, it’s the black guys because they’re the ones committing the crimes. He’s right. Go to any predominantly black inner-city neighborhood in America and you will find black males not working, hanging out during the day, and committing crimes. You will also find other blacks (everybody else in the neighborhood) living in fear of them. Today, though blacks are only 13 percent of the population, they actually make up a larger percentage of federal and state prisoners (38 percent) than whites (34 percent). That’s because black males are responsible for more crimes than any other racial group, and thus they are 6.4 times more likely than white men to be incarcerated. The incarceration rate for blacks hasn’t improved since 1960, when blacks accounted for 37 percent of all federal and state prisoners.² Black men perpetrate criminal offenses including robbery, aggravated assault, and property crimes at a rate that’s typically two to three times their representation in the population.³

THE BLACK VICTIMS OF DEMOCRAT-ENABLED CRIME

The Democrats would have you believe that white-on-black crime—and particularly shootings of unarmed black men by racist cops—is out of control. In fact, black crime victims are overwhelmingly suffering violence at the hands of the black criminals the Democrats are giving a pass to. As former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani famously pointed out on Meet the Press, 93 percent of homicides of black victims are committed by other blacks.⁴ Murders with guns are the No. 1 cause of death for African-American men between the ages of 15 and 34, wrote journalist Juan Williams in the Wall Street Journal,⁵ citing disturbing data from the Children’s Defense Fund: The 44,038 black children killed by guns since 1979 (when national data on the age of gun violence victims was first collected) is ‘nearly 13 times more’ than all the black people killed by lynching in the 86-year period of 1882 to 1968.⁶ Characterizing the murder rate for black Americans as a national crisis, the Violence Policy Center found the 2012 homicide victim rate for black males was nearly 10 times that of white males, at 32.78 for 100,000 blacks compared to 3.86 for 100,000 whites. Of the 6,565 black homicide victims that year, 87 percent were male.⁷ So there actually is a disgraceful epidemic of murders of black men. But they’re not being perpetrated by the police, racists, or white people in general. More than 90 percent of these homicides of black victims are committed by black criminals.

Yet in the face of these horrifying statistics, Democrats take great umbrage at police departments across America that engage in racial profiling of crime suspects. If blacks, specifically black males, are committing the bulk of crime in the country, why would police officers search for suspects who don’t fit that description? As a black woman, do I enjoy being viewed with suspicion on occasion when I’m shopping in a store? No, but if a significant proportion of black people are going
