About this ebook
Use these suggestions to examine your home, increase household safety and limit expensive repair surprises. After all, your home is a member of your family and it needs proper maintenance for the highest level of performance. Unfortunately, some of those needs may be hidden or visible but ignored, perhaps because their significance was unknown at the time of observance. Sadly, occupants often learn about critical, costly property conditions at extremely inconvenient times, far too late for affordable corrective actions. This eBook may allow you to recognize property maintenance issues before they become big, expensive nightmares. The author is not a home inspector and encourages readers to have a professional home inspection completed by a local expert should there be any potential problems found. A variety of ways to examine one’s own home are included here from reviews of home inspections in various parts of the United States over several years.

Introduction
The home is central to the well-being of many, often serving for generations as a main constant in an ever-evolving life of changes in family, demands, needs, obligations, workplaces and more. The interest that one takes in the timely care of their home can, therefore, affect the overall quality of busy lives. In some small way, this eBook may help provide either some level of peace about continued ownership of a detached residential property built after 1990 or a starting point along the pathway there.
