    This starter phonetic early reader gives young children a character to connect with a simple storyline which will encourage them to read fluently. Teachers are finding phonetics invaluable in their approach to providing literary skills in early education. Professionals in the field are encouraging the use of phonetics as a tool to help the young child to read and write. Teachers find that there are not enough materials of this kind and end up making their own for classes for up to 25-30 children. This book is just one of a range of phonetic readers developed by the author, a qualified Montessori Teacher with many years experience teaching young children to read and write using phonetics.

    Pamela Purcell Dip. Montessori in Ed. Advanced Dip. Professional Journalism Dip. Social Studies Pamela has had a long career in early childhood education at her own Montessori pre-school found a lack in publications of a phonetic content which are colourful and attractive enough to hold the attention of the young child learning to read. She was involved in the production of a phonetic music tape for teachers in conjunction with a music teacher and this tape has been sold in bookshops and educational outlets in Ireland. Arising from the success of this, she went on to develop a phonetic reading scheme of books for young children which are illustrated by the artist Sandi Brennan and can be used at home or in the classroom.
