      CHAPTER ONE

      It was a standard infidelity case. All I had to do was get pictures of the cheating husband, get them back to the wife and get that much needed payday. I was gearing myself up for tears when I told the wife the truth, but there was no way for me to know how she would react.

      Sometimes, these high society wives would be elated because their husband’s infidelity cancelled out the prenup due to the infidelity clause. I could never understand it, but I supposed it just wasn’t for me to understand.

      It didn't matter anyway. After everything I'd seen working as a private investigator, I knew for sure that I never wanted to get married. It seemed like a lot of hardship for not much reward. Every couple had their secrets and some of them were extremely toxic. I didn’t want anything to do with that.
