Author

Samantha Chase

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well. When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

Charlotte is a character that I can relate to. If I saw a band member at a coffee shop I would probably not know who they were and would happily offer to pay for their coffee if they didn’t have their wallet without expectations. Then I would be curious about the person, just because that is the type of person that I am. I love that Charlotte was clueless, I disliked that Julian didn’t come clean with her right away. Yet, I understood why he felt he had to protect who he was and keep his identity a secret; too many people have expectations when they find out that a person has fame and money. I have read all the Band on the Run books so far. Each book is a different band member’s story. The non-featured band members all make appearances in each other books giving the reader a chance to catch up on the happenings of their lives. I got to learn about the weddings, the babies, and where their lives are now while learning about a new band member. This is a fun series. You get a glimpse into the life of a successful band and how that success can affect the band members. It is also a good reminder that while they are celebrities, they are real people with normalish lives also.

Received an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) This is part of a series and I honestly think that you should catch up with the others to get a better feel for this. We have known Julian from the past books and honestly don't get why he keeps letting himself get heartbroken over this woman he has been with, he constantly gets cheated on and he keeps taking her back, but finally finally they break up and he has decided he will not give his heart to someone again. While starting over he three months down the road he meets Charlotte who is a sweet heart and we want to smack Julian upside the head many times because when he finally meets someone worth it he acts idiotic, not all the time mind you but enough times. We have tears and yes happiness and my favorite getting to catch up with the rest of the fam. I don't want to give many info because you wont enjoy it too much is given away, so grab a copy and sit back..

“You want it all, sweetheart?” He asked as he took a menacing step closer. “I guess you’ll get it from your latest fling.”Julian left the chaos behind him & took off in a 3 month trip to “find” himself after the breakup. He couldn’t believe he let his ex-girlfriend, Dena keep doing this to him. Instead of helping him deal with everything, the trip just made the anger stronger & had humiliation dig into him until he felt he had to stop the music. Julian didn’t realize all he was doing was denying himself the support of his band mates & the joy of performing. Charlotte loved relaxing on the beach. Her job as a social worker was enjoyable, but could be draining & taxing. She loved helping people find homes, jobs & their self worth but it took a lot out of her. Running into Julian at her favorite coffee shop, she thought he was homeless & needed her help. When their relationship progressed but began to look like Julian was acting in the same dysfunctional manner he did in his relationship with Dena, Charlotte called it quits. Would Julian just let her go or would he finally face his demons? Samantha Chase takes her readers on a journey of self discovery with this story. Julian needs to deal with his past in order to be the man Charlotte needs. His parents gave him a bad portrait of a relationship & some bad advice about Dena which caused him to dig in & keep trying instead of calling it quits. He needed to learn to verbalize & deal with his issues instead of trying to hide them. Charlotte also needed to realize she didn’t need to be “on” 24-7. She needed to give her mind & body time to recover. I enjoyed visiting the lives of the couples from the rest of the series but it can easily still be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed Julian & Charlotte’s relationship. He had his music, talent & money whereas she had her selflessness, good nature & positive attitude. Julian needed someone like her to keep him grounded. Charlotte needed him to remind her that money wasn’t all evil & excess. Their chemistry was amazing. The wrap up to this series is bittersweet. It was great to revisit them all & see how they’ve grown.
