    ABOUT THE AUTHOR D. Priscilla Brown is an adjunct professor, author, and public speaker. The former radio and television news anchor, radio talk show host, and public relations director is the author of three books: Poetry Speaks, Move Mountain Move, and Touched by a Galilean. She has written numerous other news articles and documentaries. Her education includes both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Television Broadcasting, English, and Journalism. A community activist, the author is of Caribbean background and believes strongly in diverse cultures. She maintains that virtually any social, racial or religious barriers can be ameliorated when individuals commit to honest dialogue. “It’s amazing how people speak the same language even if with different accents.” Her mantra: Service above Self, Redemption above Retreat. “From an early age I knew that God had a special work for me,” Doreen remarked. “A person doesn’t just undergo a Lazarus experience to spend the rest of his or her life sitting on the sidelines.” At eight years old, attending physicians determined that the author was minutes away from death. The spinal meningitis she contracted had ravaged her young body to the point of clinical comatose, leaving her with a less than one percent chance of living. Her amazing recovery which was reported throughout her tiny Island nation left even the biggest religious skeptics touting her comeback as a miracle. So when she had to face relational firing squads in her adult life, she again turned to the Galilean Life-giver, and what transpired was the miraculous touch she writes about so passionately throughout her work. Her desire to empower others both intellectually and spiritually has become a passion. She asks a pivotal question: What could possibly be a greater calling than helping to rescue others from the throes of spiritual despair? The author’s mission to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with “thirsty” souls, has taken her throughout the United States and internationally, presenting at conferences, workshops, forums, seminars, college convocations, and worship services.       FOREWORD

      Who touched me? Such a question by Christ amid the hustle and bustle of the surrounding multitude seemed strange to Peter and the other disciples. The Master Teacher, however, was noted for incidental teaching and learning. Thus he paused to bring to the attention of the crowd the reward and blessing of a simple act of faith and trust.

      Touched by a Galilean by D. Priscilla Brown is, in addition to being a scholarly work, an invitation to the reader to press on through the difficulties, cares, and struggles of life, and reach out in faith for the touch of the Master’s hand.

      Touched by a Galilean reflects the message of the song:

      Shackled by a heavy burden,

      ’neath a load of guilt and shame.

      Then the hand of Jesus touched me,

      And now I am no longer the same.

      He touched me, oh He touched me.

      And oh, the joy that floods my soul!

      Something happened and now I know,

      He touched me and made me whole.

      The renowned songwriter/composer Homer Rodeheaver states,One who writes a book should know the material about which he writes. If it is a biography, he should live with the people of whom he writes.

      Why does the author of Touched by a Galilean write? She writes out of intimate experiences of betrayal, exploitation, and her denial and delay in coming out and taking action. She writes because her heart-wrenching experiences drove her to a personal encounter with the man from Galilee whose transforming touch empowered her to inspire many across the globe. She writes from her experience as an individual who, at a critical crossroad, was stuck, suffocating relationally, and threatened with disconnection from her joy in the Lord. She writes out of gratitude to God for permitting her to escape, miraculously, from her burning bush, singed and blackened and sooty, but renewed and transformed by the power of the cross.

      There she was at a crossroad where even the best option available was objectionable: to remain trapped by howling winds on one hand and ubiquitous flames on the other. That is when she had to beat back the elements to discover the true meaning of freedom! As a result, her writing reflects a multidimensional worldview, and the liberty and peace she enjoys as a conqueror she eagerly shares with others. Her work is candid, yet sprinkled throughout with compassion, empathy, and expectation, evidence of the liberation that comes from a genuine relationship with the man who calmed the sea.

      Touched by a Galilean speaks to the needs of everyone. Whether the challenges in our lives require strength for the journey, a closer walk, forgiveness and restoration, or deliverance from a burning bush, we all need to be touched by the Man from Galilee!
