Foreword
Approximately a year ago, Lola Campbell-Brown, having completed her first book, LOVE NOTES, for publication, was excitedly looking forward to writing her next, LOVE NOTES 2 The Journey of Love. Having listened to her ideas for this second publication, this member of her audience felt impressed that the finished product would be very interesting. One was not to be disappointed.
The first book, LOVE NOTES, comprises a treasure of quotes, short verses and poems celebrating love. This second book does the same and far more. It takes the reader on an interesting journey through the months of the year—each with its brief history, poignant images and connected anecdotes. The work ends with a series of love poems, verses and quotes.
With this expanded scope, LOVE NOTES 2 explores the pursuit of fulfilling one’s dream and vision through self-awareness, the extracting of lessons from and for life, the consequent regulating of oneself, and positives to be derived from good relational alliances. All this is presented by way of a unique mix comprising a summary historical archive on the months of the year, a number of anecdotal experiences, sets of motivational directives, and a good measure of touching poetry—all for one’s aesthetic indulgence, general education, or self-help.
Campbell-Brown’s lyrical style of writing and her use of fitting symbolism have resulted in a work of art that is vibrant, interesting and easily understood. In a powerful way, it is potentially positively life-changing; hence one would not hesitate to recommend this work.
It is universally relevant to all who have a dream or vision to be realized, and to all who love, have loved, will love, or would be loved.
Aldred L. Walters
My Journey of Love
The Customs and practices surrounding love and marriage was different in ancient times. Marriages were frequently arranged and people did not always marry for love. Yet, in the Bible, love and relationship issues were at the heart of most incidents. Love is mentioned no fewer than 458 times in the Old Testament and more if deutromological accounts are included.
There are many lessons that may be extracted from our loving encounters which is why it is such a popular subject, and widely addressed in most cultures. Importantly, what we may perceive as negative experiences may become life lessons which provide essential personal development which we can use to build our characters. This in itself provides learning which we can then share to provide emotional enrichment.
My encounters of love have been both diverse and spurious, sometimes I have defined love incorrectly, my perceptions tainted with misdiagnosis. I have been known to lack the boldness to act on feelings and convictions, missing out on new possibilities. However, I am certain that true love is active, visible, and should be demonstrated unreservedly.
Along my journey of love, one of the most defining moments was when I learnt that in order to love others appropriately, I needed to cultivate and develop healthy love for myself. In doing this we are moulding ourselves towards love and will eventually make healthier investments in others. Wholeness and love for us takes time to develop. Our innermost being must manifest self-love, not selfishness, and display the characterisation of loving habits. We should continuously speak to ourselves raising our inner consciousness so we may display the unique gift we are to humanity, and share the gift that we are, so, others will benefit.
I hope ‘Love Notes2 the Journey of Love’ will take you on your own journey of self-realisation becoming an ‘Aid Memoir’ to implementing your vision and following your own dreams. Love is a language that is understood by all, to be loved is a blessing, but, to pass on the love you have for yourself to someone else is an even bigger blessing and is an indulgence that should not be missed.
God bless you and happy reading!
