    Introduction

    Grammatical construction of sentences and the appropriate use of words, are very important if the readers are to understand what is being said. If words, phrases, certain sentence structures, or ways of saying things have ceased to be a part of our modern language, they appear odd and the meaning is lost or overlooked. It is important for every generation to know and understand the Word of God, for When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart (Matthew 13:19).

    This High Definition KJV New Testament is a High Definition look at the New Testament using the KJV as the foundation, but bringing forth all of the important words in H.D. The Greek and English definitions were looked up for almost every word in the New Testament (excluding words such as, the; and; it; etc.) Their meanings were then superimposed over the KJV word and put in parentheses so that the meaning has not changed, but it’s now seen in H.D. (Except where the KJ translators, who didn’t have access to these definitions as we do in this computer age, obviously missed the fuller, clearer Greek meaning.) In such cases, the fuller and clearer meanings have been given in place of the obscure word used in the KJV and were also put in parentheses.

    Sentence structures, which seem totally backwards to us, but were fine 400-500 years ago, have also been rearranged to our way of speech, without changing any of the original meaning. We believe this H.D. KJV will help remove the hindrances to understanding God’s Word, and will bless those who love the KJV Translation, but who lose a lot of its meaning by its archaic way of saying things. This is not really a new translation, but rather a H.D. look at the KJV. (Words in italics have been added to clarify what’s being said, just as the King James translators did when translating in order to make a sentence flow. This is necessary when translating from one language to another. I have simply expanded doing this to help the reader better understand. Italicized words have also been added at times to add clarity by adding what is implied or by adding truth from another area of the New Testament that clarifies a passage. In a few passages as well as in the Book of Romans, chapters 8 through 11 some words are in brackets. Whatever is in brackets is a scriptural explanation that is added by me, the author.)

    Almost all of the words in the Gospels, the epistles to the churches, and the Book of Revelation have been gone over using a Greek concordance and Webster’s English Dictionary. Most of the time I have simply clarified and expanded the words to their full definition by simply using Webster’s Dictionary/or Strong’s Greek concordance for clarification purposes. Realizing that most Christians or others will not, or cannot take the time to go over every word looking them all up, I have done so for the reader. Again, as we read from the King James Version we can see that many words are archaic and no longer used in modern speech, and that many sentences almost seem to be a puzzle because of their placement of words. Realizing that getting the understanding God’s Word is so important, each important word has been looked up and some of the sentences unraveled to help the reader catch a clearer picture of the meanings of the words used.

    We also know, that although God, in His infinite knowledge of words and their meanings, knows the exact definitions of each word, yet we many times, only grasp a small sense of the meaning of many words and so we read right over many important truths over and over again.

    This HIGH DEFINITION look at the New Testament based off of the King James Version of the Bible will be a great aid in your study of God’s Word. This valuable study is more accurate than any paraphrase, and clearer and more true to the original than many newer translations, yet it is not to be considered a new translation, but rather, a careful verse by verse study based on the King James Version of the New Testament.

    To our knowledge we cannot be sure that many or any of the translators of the King James Version were born again, Holy Spirit filled believers walking in the light of the truth. If this is so, then they could have had certain tendencies to look at, and translate words from a little different angle than a real born again believer would have. We know according to Paul the the natural man understands not the things that be of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness unto him NEITHER CAN THEY KNOW THEM because they are spiritually discerned (1 Cor. 2:14).

    Again, when you see words in italics aside from those words already in italics in the KJV, we have done just as they have done and added these words for clarification purposes. Many times we have done this so that the sentence is structured properly, and more according to the way we now talk. But these are in italics so that you can see what words were added for clarification purposes. Again, the words that we have given the definitions for are in parentheses and the words in brackets are our explanations. Each verse is laid out just as it is in the KJV so that at anytime, you yourself can go into a Greek Dictionary, concordance, and/or English Dictionary and look them up for yourself if you choose to do so.

    This verse by verse HIGH DEFINITION look at the New Testament will give you much insight into the Scriptures. As a Born Again, Holy Spirit filled minister for over thirty years, and having had a driving desire to write Bible based books and tracts, I also, on a number of occasions have had the desire to thoroughly do a verse by verse, word by word study of the New Testament. Perhaps there are other ministers like myself, who are so used to preaching and teaching from the King James Version and its flow of words, that its hard to teach from other translations even though some things may be expressed in a clearer way. I believe this verse by verse expanded High Definition look at the New Testament will be a real aid to those ministers as well as all students of the Word. May God bless you in your studies of His Word!

    The Gospel According to St. Matthew

    Matthew 1

    1 The (book relating to) the (genealogy, manner of the birth, and coming into this world) of Jesus Christ (the anointed Messiah), who was the son of David, and the son of Abraham.

    2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac (was the father of) Jacob; and Jacob (was the father of) Judah and his brethren;

    3 And Judah (was the father of) Perez and Zerah of Tamar; and Perez (was the father of) Esrom; and Esrom (was the father of) Aram;

    4 And Aram (was the father of) Amminadab; and Amminadab (was the father of) Nahshon; and Nahshon (was the father of) Salmon;

    5 And Salmon (was the father of) Boaz by Rahab; and Boaz (was the father of) Obed by Ruth; and Obed (was the father of] Jesse;

    6 And Jesse (was the father of) David the king; and David the king (was the father of] Solomon of her that had been the wife of Uriah;

    7 And Solomon [was the father of] Rehoboam; and Rehoboam [was the father of) Abijah; and Abijah (was the father of) Asaph;

    8 And Asaph (was the father of) Jehoshaphat; and Jehoshaphat (was the father of) Joram; and Joram (was the father of) Uzziah;

    9 And Uzziah (was the father of) Joatham; and Joatham (was the father of) Achaz; and Achaz (was the father of) Hezekiah;

    10 And Hezekiah (was the father of) Manasseh; and Manasseh (was the father of) Amos; and Amos (was the father of) Josiah;

    11 And Josiah begat Jechoniah and his brothers, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

    12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechoniah begat Salathiel; and Salathiel (was the father of) Zerubbabel;

    13 And Zerubbabel (was the father of) Abiud; and Abiud (was the father of) Eliakim; and Eliakim (was the father of) Azor;

    14 And Azor (was the father of) Zadoc; and Zadoc (was the father of) Achim; and Achim (was the father of) Eliud;

    15 And Eliud (was the father of) Eleazar; and Eleazar (was the father of) Matthan; and Matthan (was the father of) Jacob;

    16 And Jacob (was the father of) Joseph, who became the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called the Christ (the anointed Messiah).

    17 So then all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until their being carried away into Babylonian (exile) are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylonian (exile) to Christ (the anointed Messiah), are fourteen generations.

    18 Now the birth (and emergence into this world) of Jesus Christ (the anointed Messiah), (from the womb of Mary, actually happened) (in this way): (During the time when) his mother Mary was (pledged in marriage) to Joseph, before they (cohabited and dwelt) together as a married couple, she was (discovered to be) with a child (in her womb) (through the agency of) the Holy Ghost.

    19 Then Joseph, her soon to be husband, being a (righteous and morally good) man (dealing fairly and equally with everyone), and not (desiring) to (expose her to open shame and punishment) was (very cautiously and protectively going to divorce, forgive, and release) her (secretly).

    20 But while he (pondered and considered) these things in his mind, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a spiritual dream from God, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, (do not be afraid) to (receive) to (yourself) Mary to be your wife: for that which is conceived in her is (through the agency of) the Holy Ghost.

    21 And she shall give birth to a son, and you (must) call his name JESUS: which means, salvation, for he shall (rescue and deliver) his people whom he created from all their sins (and transgressions of God’s moral law).

    22 Now all this was (carried out and performed) that it might be (accomplished and fulfilled), which was spoken by the Lord (through the agency of) the (divinely inspired) prophet Isaiah, saying,

    23 Behold, the virgin (the chaste young woman who has never had sexual intercourse) shall be found with child (in her womb), and she shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

    24 Then Joseph being (awakened) from sleep (carried out and performed) God’s instructions just as the angel of the Lord had (commanded) him, and took unto him(self) Mary for his wife:

    25 And he (intimately, in a physical way) knew her not until after she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

    Matthew 2

    2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there (arrived men learned in science; wise men) from the east to Jerusalem,

    2 Saying, Where is he who is (destined and) born (to be) the King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and have come to worship him.

    3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was (stirred and agitated), and so was all Jerusalem with him.

    4 And when he had assembled all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ (the anointed Messiah), must be born according to the Jewish scriptures.

    5 And they said to him, He must be born in Bethlehem of Judea: for thus it is written by the (divinely inspired) prophet Micah,

    6 And you Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the princes (and rulers) of Judah: for out of you shall come a Governor (and ruler), that shall rule (and exercise authority over) my people Israel.

    7 Then Herod, when he had (secretly) called the wise men, he inquired of them diligently what time the star (showed up and came into sight).

    8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when you have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.

    9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went (in front of) them, until it came and (took its position and remained stationary) over (the place) where the young child was.

    10 And when they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

    11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and they fell down, and (prostrated themselves in reverence before him and) worshipped him: and when they had opened up their treasures that they had brought, they presented to him gifts (and offerings of); gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

    12 And being warned by God in a dream that they should not return back to Herod, they departed back to their own country (a different) way.

    13 And (after) they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared again to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into the land of Egypt, and you (stay) there until I bring you word: for Herod will now seek (after) the young child to destroy him.

    14 When he (awakened out of sleep), he took the young child and his mother that night, and departed into Egypt:

    15 And (they were) there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled (and accomplished), which was (uttered and expressed) by the Lord (through the agency of) the (divinely inspired) prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

    16 (But soon after), Herod (perceived) that he was (defied and) mocked by the wise men, he was exceedingly (angry), and sent forth (his soldiers on a mission), and (murdered violently) all of the children who were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, (in harmony with) the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.

    17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken and revealed by Jeremiah, the (divinely inspired) prophet, saying,

    18 In Ramah there was a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel was weeping for her children, and she would not be comforted, because they are all dead.

    19 But when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,

    20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for he who (was searching for) the young child’s life to destroy it is dead.

    21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and (went) into the land of Israel.

    22 But when he heard that Archelaus did (rule as king over the land of) Judea in (place) of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there (and was filled with apprehension): (nevertheless),being (divinely counseled and warned) by God in a dream, he turned aside into the (general area) of Galilee:

    23 And he went with his family and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled (and accomplished), which was spoken by the (divinely inspired) prophet, He shall be called a Nazarite.

    Matthew 3

    3:1 In that (period of time), John the Baptist came preaching in the (uncultivated and uninhabited area) of Judea,

    2 And saying, (Turn ye from sin, change your minds, and dedicate yourself to make things right) for the kingdom of heaven is (drawing near and is within reach).

    3 And this is he who was spoken of by the (divinely inspired) prophet Isaiah, saying, The voice of one (shouting out) in the (uncultivated and uninhabited area), Prepare ye the way of the Lord; make his paths (free of deviations from right behavior).

    4 And this same John, who came in the spirit of Elijah, had garments (which were made) of camel’s hair, and he had a leather (belt around his hip); and his (food) was locusts and wild honey.

    5 Then (the people of) Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region round about Jordan went out to him,

    6 And the people were baptized (and immersed) by him in the Jordan river (admitting and making known to him) their sins.

    7 But when he saw many (belonging to) the (Jewish religious sects of the) Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said to them, O offspring and children of (poisonous snakes), who has warned (and instructed) you to flee from the (punishment and) wrath to come?

    8 Bring forth therefore, (actions producing fruit suitable and worthy) of your professed repentance:

    9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham (as) our father: for I say to you, that God (the Creator and Ruler of the universe), is able to raise up children of Abraham (from these) stones.

    10 And now also know this, that the axe is laid at the root of the trees: therefore, every tree which (does) not bring forth good fruit shall be (cut) down, and cast into the fire.

    11 I indeed, baptize you with water (telling the people they must repent of their sinful lives): but he that (is coming) after me is (more powerful and stronger) than I, whose shoes I am not (of sufficient worth) to (carry): he shall baptize (immerse, and cleanse) you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

    12 Whose (wind fan to separate the wheat from the chaff) is in his hand, and he will (perfectly cleanse his separating) floor, and gather his wheat into the (grain bin); but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

    13 Then (came) Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized by him.

    14 But John (hindered and prevented) him, saying, I have need to be baptized (by you), and (do you come) to me?

    15 And Jesus answering said to him, (Allow) it to be so now: for thus it (is suitable for) us to (satisfy and meet all the requirements of) righteousness. Then he (allowed) him.

    16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up immediately out of the water: and, (behold), the heavens were (exposed to his view), and he saw the Spirit of God descending (as if it had been) a dove, and (coming and resting) upon him:

    17 And (behold), a voice (came) from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

    Matthew 4

    4:1 (Soon after that), Jesus was (led and guided) by the (Holy) Spirit into (a remote, desolate, solitary), wilderness in order to (undergo a test, and be enticed to do wrong by promise of pleasure or gain) (through the agency of) the devil in order to be proved worthy of his mission.

    2 And when he had fasted (and abstained from food) for forty days and forty nights, he was afterwards hungry.

    3 And when the tempter, who is the devil, (approached) him, he said, If (you actually) are the Son of (God, the Creator and Ruler of the universe), then bring about this result, (speak with demanding and dominating authority) that these stones be (changed into) bread.

    4 But he (spoke in reply to) the devil and said, It is written in the scriptures that Man shall not live (his life) by bread (only), (but to the contrary), man shall live by every (oral or written statement) that (has come forth) out of the mouth of God.

    5 Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on the (highest point) of the temple,

    6 And said to him, If you are the Son of God (the Creator and Ruler of the universe, throw yourself) down (towards the ground): for it is written, in the scriptures, He shall give his angels charge concerning you: and in their hands they shall (lift and raise) you up to protect you, lest at any time you dash (and strike) your foot against a stone.

    7 Jesus said to him, It is written again in another place, that You shall not tempt nor put the Lord your God to the test, by doing foolish things and purposely putting yourself in harm’s way.

    8 Again, the devil took him up onto an exceedingly high mountain, and (caused him to see) all the kingdoms of the world, and the (beauty and splendor) of them; (and all the inhabitants therein).

    9 And (the devil) said to him, All these things whatever may be possessed or owned in this world will I (grant and bestow upon) you, (on the condition that) you will fall down and (prostrate yourself in reverence before me and) worship me.

    10 Then said Jesus to him, Get thee (from this place), Satan: for it is written in scripture that, You shall worship the Lord your God, and to him only shall you (render religious honor and worship).

    11 Then the devil (departed from) him, and, behold, angels (approached) and (waited upon him and) ministered to him.

    12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was (put in) prison, he departed into Galilee;

    13 And (withdrawing from) Nazareth, he came and (lived as a resident) in Capernaum, which is by the sea coast, in the (region and territory) of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

    14 That what was spoken by Isaiah, the (divinely inspired) prophet, might be fulfilled (verified, and established as truth), when he uttered words saying,

    15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

    16 The people which (lived and dwelt) in spiritual darkness (lacking knowledge and understanding), (saw and grasped the true nature of life), For there arose an exceedingly great light (which brought truth and spiritual illumination); to those who (lived and dwelt) in the (unreal and void region) of death, to them light (has appeared on the horizon).

    17 From that time on, right on schedule, Jesus, the true light, began to preach (and proclaim divine truth to the people), and to say, (Turn from sin, change your minds, and dedicate yourself to making things right): (you should, for this reason) because the kingdom (and realm) of heaven is (here in reality and) within your reach.

    18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishermen.

    19 And he said to them, Follow me, and I will (change you and cause you to become) fishers of (human beings) instead.

    20 And they immediately left their nets, and followed him.

    21 And going on from that place, he saw two other brothers, and they were James, the son of Zebedee, and John, his brother, in a boat with Zebedee, their father, mending their nets; and he called out loud to them.

    22 And they also immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.

    23 And Jesus went all around Galilee, teaching (God’s divine word of truth) in their synagogues, and preaching (and proclaiming) the (good news about the) gospel of the unseen kingdom, and healing every kind of sickness and every kind of disease among the people.

    24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought to him all sick people (who were seized and captured physically by the direct act of demons which chained them with many different categories of diseases and torments; and also there were those who were brought who were under the control of devils, who had entered into and possessed them; and also those who were mad and insane and those who had the palsy; and he healed them with divine power from the power of the Spirit of God) (Acts 10:38).

    25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judea, and from beyond Jordan.

    Matthew 5

    5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up on to a (high hill): and when he had sat down, his disciples (approached) him:

    2 And he opened up his mouth, and taught them, saying,

    3 (Blessed and prosperous and endowed with favor) are the (humble and) poor in spirit who humbly know their need of God: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

    4 (Blessed and prosperous and endowed with favor) are they that mourn (and express grief and sorrow now for sin): for they shall be comforted (given strength, hope, and be cheered up).

    5 (Blessed and prosperous and endowed with favor) are the meek (who endure injury from the violent with patience, without holding resentment or becoming violent): for they shall inherit (and come in divine possession of) the earth.

    6 (Blessed and prosperous and endowed with favor) are they which do hunger and thirst after a life of righteousness: for they shall be (satisfied and receive as much as they can hold).

    7 (Blessed and prosperous and endowed with favor) are (those who are compassionate and full of mercy towards offenders and those they could punish but don’t): for they themselves shall obtain (and gain for themselves) mercy.

    8 (Blessed and prosperous and endowed with favor) are the pure (chaste, and clean) in (the meditations and thoughts of their) heart: for they shall (gaze with eyes wide open upon) (God, the Creator and ruler of the universe).

    9 (Blessed and prosperous and endowed with favor are the ones who work to make peace by reconciling parties who are at variance and disagreeing with one another: for they shall be called the children of the God of peace).

    10 (Blessed and prosperous and endowed with favor) are those who are (persecuted, harassed, afflicted, and caused to suffer) for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

    11 (Blessed and prosperous and endowed with favor) are you, when men shall (subject you to verbal abuse), and (and persecute, harass, afflict, and cause you to suffer), and shall utter all sorts of (hurtful, vicious intentionally untrue, and treacherous) evil against you falsely, for my sake that is, because of your relationship with me.

    12 (Be glad, joyful, and very happy): for (more than you’d ever expect) is your reward in heaven: for so wicked men also caused the (divinely inspired) prophets (to be persecuted, harassed, afflicted, and suffer) which were here in the earth before you.

    13 You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost its taste, (by what means shall it become salty again)? it is (from that time forward) good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

    14 You are the light of this world. A city that is set on a hill cannot (possibly) be hid.

    15 Neither do men light a candle, and then put it under a bushel (basket), but they put it on a candlestick; (so that) it gives light to all who are in the house.

    16 (Even so, you should) Let your light the light of the truth that’s in your heart so shine (and be conspicuously clear) before men, that they may (watch, examine, and) see your (virtuous and honest doings), prompted by your faith in God and because of them, (praise, admire, and) glorify your Father which is in heaven.

    17 (Do not have it in your mind and imagine) that I have come to (ruin the structure of and put out of existence) the law, or the (writings of the divinely inspired) prophets: I (have) not come to (ruin the structure or annihilate it), but to (perform, satisfy, and bring about its reality and fulfillment).

    18 For truly (and in accordance with fact), I say to you, Until this heaven and earth pass (away and come to an end), (one iota, or one minute fragment) shall (by no means) pass (away) from the law, until all of it (comes to pass).

    19 In view of this fact, Whosoever therefore, shall (annul or cause to disappear or detach even) one of these (smallest in importance) commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the one of (smallest importance) in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called one (of great importance) in the kingdom of heaven.

    20 For I say to you, That (except on the condition that) your own righteousness of character shall (be superior to) the righteousness (of character) of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no (set of circumstances or conditions) enter into the kingdom of heaven.

    21 You have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not murder; and whosoever shall murder shall (be in a position to incur) the judgment:

    22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is (enraged and angered) with his brother without a (reason for this action) shall be in (position to incur) the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, (you are worthless and valueless) shall be in danger of the (court of justice): but whosoever shall say, You (stupid blockhead), shall be in danger of hell fire.

    23 Therefore, if you bring (your present and sacrificial gift) to the altar of God, and there (you remember) that your brother has (a certain thing) against you because of something you did;

    24 (Lay aside, in that place) your gift you came to give before the altar, of God and (depart and) go your way; and first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer to God your gift.

    25 (Come back into harmony and settle issues) with your (opponent you’re in a conflict with) quickly (at the very time) you are (on the journey down the road) with him; (for fear that maybe your opponent will) win his case and commit you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison (into a state of confinement and captivity).

    26 (Truly), I say to you, You shall (in no way) come out (of that place, from that time forward) until you have (delivered up and repaid the last smallest coin due).

    27 You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shalt not (carry out the act of) (sexual intercourse with someone who is not your spouse).

    28 But I say to you, That whosoever (uses his power of vision to gaze upon) a woman (in order) to (set his heart upon her and covet, and desire her and would be willing to carry the act out with her) has committed adultery with her already in his heart, even though he didn’t do the physical act.

    29 And so then in view of this if your right eye (entraps you and entices you to enter into a life of sin), pluck it out, and cast it from you: for it is better for you that one of your bodily members should perish (and be temporarily, destroyed) and not that your whole body should be forever (thrust down) into hell (fire).

    30 And if your right hand offends you (and entice you to apostasy), cut if off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for you that one of (your bodily) members should temporarily perish, and not that your whole body should be (thrust down) into hell fire forever.

    31 It has been said, Whosoever shall divorce his wife, let him give her a (hand written certificate) of the divorcement (and thereby terminate the marriage contract):

    32 But I say to you, That whosoever shall divorce his wife (and dissolve the marriage), (with the exclusion that its on the legal ground) of (her having sexual intercourse with another, or incest, or harlotry), is responsible for making her commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry (and wed) her that is divorced because of her sexual unfaithfulness with another person outside her marriage covenant is committing adultery with someone who was supposed to be another person’s wife but had been unfaithful to her marriage covenant.

    33 Again, you have heard that it has been said by them of old time, You shall not (swear to things falsely), but you shall fulfill and carry out (all the oaths and vows you made to the Lord):

    34 But I say to you, (Don’t say things under oaths) at all; (do not invoke the name of) heaven; for it is God’s throne:

    35 (Do not swear) by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither should you swear by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

    36 Neither (should you) swear by your own head, or life because you cannot even make one hair white or black.

    37 But let your communication (and words) be, Yes, yes; or No, no: for (anything and everything that is beyond this has its real existence through the agency of the devil).

    38 You have heard that it has been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

    39 But I say to you, That you (should not exert physical force in opposition to evil men): but whosoever shall (slap thee with the palm of his hand) on your right cheek, (turn around and offer) to him the other cheek also.

    40 And if any man will (take legal proceedings against you in a court of law), to try and (get into his possession and) take away from you your coat, offer to him your garment, likewise.

    41 And (whosoever shall drive or urge you forcefully to take a certain course or follow a certain procedure for) a mile, (then take that course or procedure) with him for two miles.

    42 Give (and make it a present) to him that (makes a request of) you, and from him that would (borrow money from you intending to pay it back, do not drive or send him away in another direction).

    43 You have heard that it has been said, You shall (love and have benevolent and brotherly concern) for your neighbor, (and fellow countryman) and (feel extreme enmity and mutual ill will and show active hostility towards) your enemy (and those who contend with and oppose you).

    44 But I say to you, (Love and show benevolent and brotherly concern for your) enemies, (speak well of them and invoke a blessing upon) them who (wish harm or injury to come upon) you, (bring about something that is good and conforming to the moral order of the universe and is praiseworthy) towards them who (feel extreme enmity and ill will and show active hostility towards) you, and (make prayer to God) for them which (show a lack of respect and defiance towards you, and slander and insult) you, and (harass, and afflict) you;

    45 That you may[truly be shown to be the children of your Father who is in heaven: for he causes his sun which belongs to him to rise on (those of evil, malicious, and bad character) and on (those of favorable and virtuous character), and he sends rain on the (righteous, holy, equitable, and morally good) and on the (dishonest and faithless).

    46 For (in the event that) you (show love and benevolent concern towards) those who (show love and benevolent concern for) you, what reward have you from God? Do not even the (tax collectors whom you despise do precisely) the same (thing)?

    47 And if you (embrace, and greet, and show a sign of respect to) your brethren only, what do you do more than others? do not even the (tax collectors whom you despise also do) so?

    48 Be you therefore, (complete in moral character, free from variation regardless of others’ actions) (just like) your Father which is in heaven is (free from variation in moral character regardless of others’ actions).

    Matthew 6

    6:1 (Be cautious and give consideration so) that you do not do your (acts of charity) in front of men, in order to be (watched, looked at, and discovered) by them, (otherwise, something to the contrary will happen): you will have no reward (given to you in return for your good done) by your Father who is in heaven.

    2 (For that reason), (every time you do acts of charity) do not (cause the) sound of a trumpet (to blast) before you, as the religious (actors and stage players) do in the synagogues and in the (crowded) streets, so that they may obtain and receive (glory, honor, praise, and renown) from men. Truly (in all sincerity), I say to you, They have their reward.

    3 But (every time you do your acts of charity), (do not let your) left hand (be aware of) what your right hand (is doing);

    4 So that (your acts of charity) may be in secret: (and concealed from others) and then your Heavenly Father who (is himself aware of what’s concealed from others), shall (be in a position to pay you back openly, in a way that’s readily perceived by the senses and recognized by the mind).

    5 And (during the times you pray), you (should) not be as the religious (actors and stage players) are: for they are (enthusiastically devoted) to pray, (standing erectly for all to see) in the synagogues and in the crowded corners of the streets, so that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, They have their reward.

    6 But you, (during the times you pray), enter into (a private area and secret chamber) away from the eyes of men, and when you have shut your door, and closed the rest of the world out, pray to your Father who is there in that secret place; and your Father who (is aware of it and watches you as you pray), he shall (then be in a position to reward you openly in a way that is readily perceived by the senses and recognized by the mind).

    7 But when you pray, use not (idle, worthless, empty, and valueless repetitions, reciting and repeating the same things over and over again), the way the heathen (do in their strange religious ways): for they (have it in their minds) that they will be (listened to with much attention) because of the (great quantity of words uttered).

    8 (Do not have the same characteristics as such people): for your Heavenly Father (has knowledge and is fully acquainted with your state of affairs) and whatever things (you are lacking and wanting, earlier than and preceding the time) you ask him.

    9 (In this way, and in view of what I said) pray ye in a similar manner as this: Our Father who is in heaven, (holy, revered, worshipped, and adored) is your name.

    10 May your kingdom (and rule) come. May your will (and desire) be done here in the earth, (to the same degree that) it is done in heaven.

    11 (Grant and bestow upon) us this day our daily bread and all that is necessary to sustain our lives.

    12 And (grant us forgiveness for our debts and release us from the penalty of) our (moral faults and sins), as we (grant forgiveness to and release from penalty those who morally transgress us).

    13 And let us not (be carried inwardly away in the direction of evil solicitations and adversity), but (assist us by your influence and set us free) from (the devil and the agents of) evil: For (to you belongs) the kingdom, and the (miraculous) power, and the glory (praise and worship) for ever. Amen.

    14 (On this ground and on the condition that) you (grant forgiveness to and release from penalty) men their (unintentional errors and willful trespasses), then your heavenly Father will also (likewise, grant you forgiveness and release you from your unintentional errors and willful transgressions):

    15 But if you (do not) (grant forgiveness to and release others from the penalty of their trespasses against you), then neither will your Father (grant you forgiveness and release you from the penalty) of your trespasses against him.

    16 (In addition to what was said, in the event that) you fast (and abstain from food for spiritual reasons), be not, as the religious (actors and stage players), (who put on a mournful looking) countenance: for they disfigure (and change the appearance of) their faces, like actors wearing masks so that (it might be evident to men that they are fasting). Truly (in all sincerity), I say to you, They have their reward.

    17 But you, when you fast (and abstain from food for spiritual reasons), anoint (with perfumed oil) your head, and (cleanse and) wash your face;

    18 (To such an extent that) you appear (to men to not be fasting), but you are doing it only unto your Father who (exists) (hidden from view): and your Heavenly Father, who sees you, fasting (hidden from view of others) shall (then be in a position to reward you openly in a way that can be readily perceived by the senses and recognized by the mind).

    19 Lay not up (wealth stored and hoarded up for yourselves) upon the earth, where moth and rust (causes it to perish and vanish away), and where thieves can break through and steal it from you.

    20 But I say unto you, lay up (wealth stored and hoarded up for yourselves) in heaven, where neither moth nor rust (can cause it to perish and vanish away), and (in that place) thieves do not (come to) break through nor steal:

    21 For (in whichever place) your treasure (and valuable possessions are stored and hoarded up), in that place will your heart (with its innermost feelings, concerns, and affections) be also whether on earth or in heaven.

    22 The eye (is the organ of sight which reflects and lets light into the body): if consequently your eye (is single and undivided and free from darkness and obstructions), your whole entire body shall be full of light and have all that is needed to see where it’s going.

    23 But (on the other hand) if your eye (the organ of sight which lets light into the body is actually diseased and evil, and has degenerated below its original moral standard), your whole body shall be (devoid of light and you will lack understanding of where you are going, and things will be obscure to you). If consequently the (only thing that makes vision possible in you is in gloomy, obscure) darkness, how (prevailing and remarkable in magnitude) is that darkness!

    24 There is (not any) man that (is able to be a servant to, and attend to) two separate (owners and masters): for (there is an unavoidable choice that must be made between the two alternatives) so he will (feel an intense loathing, dislike, and disgust for) the one, and (have strong affection, attachment, and devotion to) the other; or (in an additional manner) he will (maintain his firm grasp) to the one, and (regard with disfavor and dislike) the other. (You are not able to be a servant and attend to both) God and (material wealth and possessions at the same time).

    25 (For that reason and on that ground) I say to you, (Do not let nor admit into your life any anxious (worry filled thoughts concerning), what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; neither even concerning your body, what you shall put on. Is not the (spirit, breath, and soul of greater importance) than food, and the body of greater importance than the clothing?

    26 (Gaze upon and observe) the birds of the air: for they (do not scatter seeds upon the earth to receive a harvest), (they also do not go forth to gather their harvest by reaping), nor do they (collect the harvest together and put it) into barns; yet (without being prevented by that) your heavenly Father is the one who feeds them. Are you not (in a more excellent manner preferable) in God’s sight than they?

    27 Which of you by (admitting and letting into his life anxious thoughts has the ability to increase even eighteen inches to his natural height)?

    28 (For what reason or purpose then should you admit into your life) anxious thoughts concerning clothing? (Gaze upon and observe), the lilies of the field, (in what way) they (spring up and increase and develop); they (do not struggle and put forth laborious effort), neither do they (move continuously to twist fibers into yarn):

    29 (Nevertheless, however), I say to you, That (to a degree that extends even to) Solomon. In all of his (apparent glory, magnificence, prosperity and splendor), even he was not (dressed in clothing) like one of these.

    30 (In view of those facts think about this), if (God, the Creator and ruler of the universe) so (provides clothing for the vegetation) of the field, which to day is here, and tomorrow is cast into the oven (to provide fire for baking), shall he not much more provide clothing for you, O you of (skeptical, incredulous faith, unwilling to accept what is true).

    31 (On that ground then, do not admit or let into your life any anxious or worry filled thoughts, expressing them, then declaring and reciting in words your opinions, fears, and beliefs) saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, (With what source of supply or revenue) shall we be clothed?

    32 (With respect to all these things do the pagans and heathen who do not know God continuously go in search of and try to acquire and gain): (with respect to these things) your heavenly Father knows (and understands) that you have need of all these things.

    33 (But listen to me, go in search of and try to discover) first (in preference to all other things) the kingdom (and realm of God who made the worlds visible and invisible and all things therein), (which should rank above all other things) and (learn to live righteously according to His divine law); and then by the blessing of God all these things (that the heathen are seeking) shall be added unto you (by God).

    34 (So then) (on that ground, admit) no (anxious or worry filled thoughts into your life) concerning (the day after the present day): for the (day after the present day) shall take (anxious thought) concerning the (affairs and things) of (its own). (In such a quantity to be enough day by day is the evil (and wickedness) thereof.

    Matthew 7

    7:1 (Do not sit in judgment to judge, call others into question, or determine to sentence them), (so that) you be not (judged, called into question, or sentenced),

    2 (Since the fact is that) (in proportion to whatever act or process you use to determine others’ condemnation, damnation, and judgment), (you yourself shall be judged with): and (since the fact is that in proportion to the amount and degree you dole and give it out), it shall be (doled out, given, and returned) to you again.

    3 And (for what purpose or reason do you take heed and inspect to see) the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but (do not observe and think carefully to consider and take into account) the beam (of timber) that is in your own eye?

    4 Or (how does it happen that) you will (break the silence and verbally begin to speak) to your brother, saying, (Permit me to pick out and remove) the speck out of your eye; and, behold (gaze upon and observe this, the fact is that there is) a beam (of timber) in your own eye?

    5 You (who put on a false appearance to conceal your real intentions and feelings, acting under an assumed character, should) first (pick out and remove) the beam (of timber) out of your own eye; and then (as an inescapable result you would) see clearly to (pick out and remove) the speck out of your brother’s eye.

    6 (Do not transfer, deliver, or make presents of so great of things as that) which is holy (sacred, and entitled to respect and reverence and give it) unto the dogs, neither (should you put forth and lay) your pearls down before swine, (for fear that) they would just trample them under their feet, and (the dogs turning around show another side of themselves return back) and (tear you to pieces).

    7 (Call out for an answer and make requests), and it shall be (granted and bestowed upon) you; (go in search of and try to discover truth and answers) and you shall find (and obtain it); knock on the door, and it shall be opened to you: and you will be able to enter in,

    8 For everyone who asks, (acquires and comes into possession of what was asked); and he who (goes in search of and tries to discover will attain, reach, and come upon it); and to him who knocks it shall be opened and he will be able to enter.

    9 Or (tell me) what man is there of you, being relied upon for support or aid whom (in the event that) his child (makes a request for) bread, will (hand over to) him a (rock)?

    10 Or if he (makes a request for a) fish, will he give him a (poisonous) serpent?

    11 If you then, (characterized as being in the class of) evil, know (and understand enough) to give good gifts unto your children, how much (to a greater degree) more shall your Father who is in heaven give good, (prosperous, and satisfying) things to them that (make a request) of him?

    12 Therefore, in view of what I have taught you whatsoever things (deeds, and acts) you would (choose, wish, and prefer) that men should (bring to pass, carry out, perform, and do) to you, (you carry them out, perform, and do) even so to them: (because the fact is), this is the (established constitution and) law (of God) and in full agreement with the (divinely inspired) prophets. (It is the rule of conduct prescribed and is fully recognized as binding and enforced.)

    13 (Gain admission) into eternal life at the narrow gate: for (vast, and covering a great distance) is the gate, and broad (and spacious) is the road, that leads people down (the way) to (eternal ruin and) destruction, and (there are a large amount of people who belong to the class) which (move on course down the road to go) in (to that place):

    14 But because narrow is the gate, and (of small width) is the road, which leads (the way) to eternal life, (there are just a small number of individuals who belong to the class) that (attain and reach) it.

    15 (Be on guard and cautious concerning) false (misleading and erroneous) prophets therefore, (who are characterized by error), who come to you in sheep’s (outer garments), but (in their innermost being below the surface they are wolves greedily on the prowl for prey with violently destructive effects).

    16 You shall (recognize and become fully acquainted with) them by (their fruit and the effects they produce). Do men (harvest and collect) grapes off of (a thorn plant), or do men harvest and collect figs off (a prickly plant)?

    17 (Exactly and precisely) so, every good tree brings (out in to view) good (beneficial and, praiseworthy) fruit, (produce, and results); but a corrupt tree brings (out into view) evil (sinful, malicious, lewd, diseased, and harmful) fruit (and results).

    18 A good tree (is unable to) bring forth evil fruit, neither can a tree (of rotten, morally debased, and bad morals) bring forth good fruit.

    19 Every tree that (does) not bring forth good fruit will be cut down, and thrown into the fire.

    20 (Therefore, in view of the preceding statements), by their final fruit (produce, results, and effects) you shall (recognize and become fully acquainted with) them.

    21 For not everyone that just says (and utters) unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the (realm and) kingdom of heaven (the abode of God); (but only those who perform, execute, and carry out) the will (desires, and wishes) of my Father who is in heaven.

    22 (A large number of people) will say to me in that day they stand before me, Lord, Lord, have we not (foretold events, spoken under inspiration, and fulfilled the prophetic office) in your name? and in your name have we not cast out devils? and in thy name done many miraculous works?

    23 And (at that time) will I confess to them, I never (knew you at all, no, never) was I (acquainted with nor familiar with) you: (go away from me and leave me), you who (were actively engaged and operating in wickedness and transgressions of the divine law).

    24 (Because of that, and for that reason and to that end) listen to this statement, whosoever (listens to and hears) these (divine expressions and declarations) of mine and (performs, executes, and carries them out), I will compare him to a (keen, farsighted, intelligent and discerning) man, which (constructed) his house upon a (mass of rock):

    25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was (erected with a foundation laid) upon a rock.

    26 And every one (that listens to and hears) these (divine expressions and declarations) of mine, and (does not perform, execute, and carry them out, shall be compared to a man who is mentally slow, and given to unintelligent decisions, marked by senseless actions, which constructed) his house upon the sand:

    27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

    28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, (the multitude of people who had been crowding together) to listen to him were (stricken with amazement) at his doctrine (teachings and instructions):

    29 For he taught (and made known to them knowledge and imparted divine instructions to them as one possessing) authority, and not as the scribes do.

    Matthew 8

    8:1 (And then) he (descended) down from the (high hill), after teaching and (a notably large multitude accompanied him down the road).

    2 And, behold (and observe), there came a man who was a leper and (he prostrated himself in reverence before him and) worshipped him, saying, Lord, if (you were inclined and you willed to), you could (rid me of this impure leprosy and cleanse me).

    3 And Jesus stretched forth his hand, and touched him (attaching himself to him), (and declared with authority), I (am inclined and I do will to); let this take place, be thou cleansed. And (without any space of time) his leprosy was cleansed.

    4 And Jesus said to him, (Take heed that you do not speak a word to any) man about this; but go (from this place) and, (reveal and point out your condition to the high) priest, (and inform) him concerning what happened and offer the sacrifice that Moses commanded, in the law for the cleansing of leprosy, (as evidence and a witness to them).

    5 And when Jesus had entered into Capernaum, there (approached) him a Roman centurion, (urgently interceding and pleading with) him, (with the desire to persuade him),

    6 And he was saying, Lord, my servant (is struck down) at (our family) home (shaking, and being destroyed by) the palsy, (terribly tortured) and in excruciating pain.

    7 And Jesus said to him, I will (accompany you to your house) and (relieve him of the disease, make him sound, and restore him to health).

    8 The Roman centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy (or suitably fit having sufficient worth or importance) that you should enter underneath my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be (made sound and restored to health).

    9 For I, just like you, am a man (underneath and in subjection to) authority, having soldiers (underneath and in subjection to) me: and all I need to do with this authority is to
