CHAPTER ONE
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MONITORING THE VOICE OF THE HEART AND INSPIRATION
What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve.
NAPOLEON HILL
You must intensify and render continuous by repeatedly presenting with suggestive ideas and mental pictures of the feast of good things, and the flowing fountain, which awaits the successful achievement or attainment of the desires.
CLAUDE M. BRISTOL
Inspiration is the process by which man’s mind or creative acumen is divinely stimulated. It is the process of engaging the voice of the heart for productive ventures. You need inspiration for successful living. Monitoring the voice of your heart is crucial for effective praise. Every human being with normal human inclinations has the power to visualize events. In fact, what we do all day long is create scenes in our heart either consciously or unconsciously. If the scene created consistently is that of worry, the condition you attract is that of tension but if it is that of determination, what you attract is great expectation. As a true worshipper desirous of getting inspiration from above, you need to develop a penchant for monitoring the voice of your heart for effective praise. Principles 1 to 5 of this chapter are designed to assist you to achieve this.
1.
Acceptable praise propels the voice of the heart to give you inspiration from above.
There is a voice in everyone’s heart that gives him direction all day long. This voice is very crucial to the result one gets from time to time. One factor that will make the voice effective in directing your daily affairs is God’s praise.
A wise man will tap from the infinite knowledge of the omnipotence by loading his voice with the praise of God all the time.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
ISAIAH 26:3
We also have the eyes of the head. While the eyes of the head conceive ideas and visions, the voice of the heart gives the ideas and visions expressions. No wonder that Solomon, the greatest king that ever ruled or would ever rule said in Ecclesiastes 2:14:
The wise man’s eyes are in his head.
You need the eyes in your head and the voice of the heart more than anything in life, and most especially in your praise of God. You, indeed, need powerful imaginative ability to monitor what the words of your praise are communicating to you. The melody of praise music to God is good but it is not enough. It is the words in the praise that bring out the need for the praise, the principle of the praise, the gains of the praise and the didactic elements in the praise.
You need to think deeply about what the words and phrases of your praise are suggesting and tailor them to your needs, goals, and aspirations. This is the way to filter the information necessary for the ramifications of your overall spiritual development.
HAMLET: Suit the action to the word, the word to the action; with this special observance, that you o’erstep not the modesty of nature.
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
For example, your relationship with the Omnipotent God will be contingent upon what the voice tells you.
If the words of your praise say, for example, that He is a trustworthy God
and the voice of your heart affirms the same thing, then, it will be easy for you to trust that He will surely do what He has promised to do in your life. Again, if the voice in your heart echoes the wordings that He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, the first and the Last
, then, you will readily believe that He cannot abandon you once He has started with you, no matter how difficult the situation apparently
