All the Colors of Life: From the History and Mystery of Color! and Secrets of the Spectrum

About this ebook
Shirley J. Wenrich
There have been many qualities obtained over the years, including work and positions of leadership in several nonprofit organizations. Also a deep interest in color and design, ranging from the ownership in two art shops that bridged the gap between art gallery and a craft shop, with quality and variety. This led to set design for a local theater and interior design that I love. However, the greatest achievement, besides raising four children, was my participation in the Harmonic Convergence. This took place in 1987, and the best place to be was the only sacred site east of the Mississippi at the Serpent Mounds in Ohio. Since I needed an active part, I was “The Hug Lady” and met people from all over the world. Whatever we did, it helped, because the Berlin Wall came down within three years, and it was the beginning of the end of Communism. I enjoy anything I can do to help others.

One of the first to help me was Nichole Finefrock, whom I met when we worked at the Center of Hope.
She suggested I save ALL papers!
Then Jamie Bloss helped me get started, and even wrote the second chapter from information I had given her!
After that I seemed to have more confidence.
Pam and Harry Noden were quite supportive and taught me what I needed to send to the Publishers. Harry had written an excellent book, so he knew first hand what to expect!
The members of my family who supported me were my son, Rod, and my grandson’s Adam and Mike!
Nikki Heisser has been a great friend as well as a teacher. She wrote the story of her life a few years ago!
Her friend, Professor Jacob Maynard helped with a sales plan!
Paskey Tours helped with great pens as well as advice.
Many more, too many to mention were quite helpful! Including Mickey were there when needed!
Just one of the last, but by no means the least is Ria, known and loved by many!

Past, Present
and Future of Color!
In the early 1900’s, we had one of the greatest colorists of all! His name was Faber Birren, and even though some of his books are out of print, knowledge like this should never die!
In one of his books he assures us Color Harmony of the Future will be a Grand affair!
We should do all we can to make this happen!
Now, let’s begin at the beginning, or close to it. Egypt used color as a useful and sometimes Spiritual substance. They say the wisdom of Egypt could have come from Atlantis and we do know they were advanced in almost every respect. More then two thousand years ago Egypt had a separate room for each color in their Temples. They used color with great rewards in everyday life.
Not too long after, in about 300ad, there were those who took control and were in charge of building churches to teach about Christianity. You see, they had hired artists to paint murals on the wall of the churches to make it feel more comfortable inside. What they didn’t know was each artist became a Mystic before they were even allowed to learn about art. Now at this time, the main purpose of a Mystic was to have Peace on Earth,
and this is all they knew.
Naturally it was difficult to keep their ideas quiet. Then there came a time, for those in charge, when the only way they could be in complete control was to kill those who even tried to teach another way. Therefore the Dark Ages began, and people were killed for daring to speak what they believed!
Fortunately, the Secret Societies began and were able to save the secrets known to improve life, including The Secrets of the Spectrum!
Now, hopefully, the Dark Ages are over and thanks to the Free Masons and Rosicrucian’s and others, we have this wisdom, even though this was kept from us for all those years!
Now you know why you have missed so much over the years, even though color itself is available everywhere we look. Even churches who use color the most, have forgotten some of the reasons behind the use. You see, no one was able to rid us of the beauty that is truly a God given gift for all ages and all times!
Did you think God created color just to make the flowers pretty? You do believe in infrared and ultraviolet, don’t you? Well these colors
are invisible! Yet we know they are life-saving and life-giving! As well as the seven colors between these two! RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO, VIOLET. There are many benefits of color you will learn from this book, and then you will be able to plan for a better future.
You need to know, the end of 2012, will be the true beginning of the Aquarian Age. There will be changes, but all for the best! This will be the True Age of Light and Color! You see both have the same vibration, and indeed could have been created at the same time! Remember–There is no life without color!
Foreword
This book is based on the many-faceted values of color. Each section of Body, Mind, and Soul, is divided into the seven colors of the spectrum, simply to designate each chapter. Hopefully, to make your favorite chapter easier to find.
BODY
The Physical section will obviously relate to how color reacts with your body. The first chapter will have all the basic facts for interacting with color, now and in the future! Then in a favorite chapter on fashion takes in all the main uses of color from kid’s clothes to team sports and work clothes. One of my favorite chapters is the one on Education, which will not only help teachers control their class but actually will raise the test scores of the entire class! Most importantly, when each child learns about color, they will be able to use it correctly, for the rest of their lives! Next will be the many gems in each color, and their value and use in healing, and other areas. Then, of importance to many, will be the directions for a very special spa, uniting all your senses with each color of the spectrum, for a memorable experience. The Indigo chapter will show how each color aids in healing, at least to make you feel better! This and all other chapters mentioning healing, should by no means take the place of a Doctor, but perhaps will show uniting benefits will help all concerned! The last chapter in the Physical section will teach about Chakras, which have been around for thousands of years, and the endocrine glands seem to relate to each chakra section! Interesting!
MIND
You’ll find more on healing in this section, since a healthy mind is also important! The first chapter relates to the history and other facts of interest about the love of Art, and mentions colors in art you just can’t live without! Next, we have more alternative uses of color in life, including the seven colors added to your bath and how they help! Next is another favorite chapter on Psy-color-gy! Fun, don’t you think? We not only concentrate on how color makes you feel, but we center on periods of life for every seven years and relate to the color is important in the period and why! These stages of life seem to be quite important to most everyone. Next we have the history and values of color in Architecture shows primarily Commercial use. Then a very interesting chapter on how color affects your environment! This will be of interest to everyone! Then another part of interest to anyone who has ever been in Love. It even points out how the color red is strictly for physical love, is this what you want? The last chapter is about all the colors in dreams, and what they mean.
SOUL
Next, if not Best, is a very special section on how color affects the soul! And believe me, it does! First we have meditation, how it helps your life, and it includes meditations featuring the chakras and how they affect every part of your body. They say meditation helps you find your soul, that is if you haven’t found it already! Have you ever heard of a Mandala? When I first heard of it, I found it very interesting, and I know you will too! This will help you find the center of your soul! This section is done in pastel colors, because I always think of colors of the soul and white light! Then we go from light to enlightenment. We all want to know more about this subject. Then a home for the soul will include most areas of spiritual living. The blue of the sky always reminds me of Rainbows, and beyond. So now you’ll know more about it too! Next we’ll reveal all the secrets of color, and everything else pertaining to it. Finally we’ll approach all the benefits of color and how they’ll help us in the future! One of the most important facts about color is the many ways it adds to your life, and it doesn’t cost a thing extra, to use the correct shade! Don’t forget, there are no wrong colors, there are only wrong uses of color. By the way, this may be one of the things to be repeated, so you’ll never forget. Of course, this is one book you won’t forget! Because these facts will improve your life, forever more! And you’ll say over and over again, I never knew that!
One thing to be aware of when you read this book, or any other you’re trying to learn from. Read from your heart, not just your head, and you’ll learn the truth! I have discarded much information I could have added here, simply because it was contrary to other info I have learned, and it just didn’t feel
right! This is the reason this book will be RIGHT for you!

CHAPTER ONE RED
One of the questions most often asked by even the most gifted scholars is-What is color?
You might find several definitions, although this may be a better way to go than those who feel just because color is so familiar, they know everything there is to know about it. Even though I have studied this subject for twenty-five years, I still get excited when I come across another bit of information where I can say, I didn’t know that!
Let’s see how many times you can say this in just the next few chapters.
First, an easy one to remember, is we may only be able to see about forty percent of the available colors. This is the percentage found in sunlight including tints and shades of the seven colors of the spectrum: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. These are the colors found in position between infrared and ultraviolet light. The interesting fact here is most people have no problem believing in these two vibrations which are not visible to the naked eye, although they have many special uses saving lives every day! Since this is a true and believable fact then we need to open our minds to the many healing benefits that come from the seven colors of the spectrum and acknowledge each color has different definitions, meanings, and uses in our lives and we cannot live without them. Each vibration has its own helpful healing potential and quality. They also have the energy of pure white sunlight that is a vital force in nourishing our bodies, minds, and souls. White light appears colorless, but is indeed made up of all color vibrations and even a corpuscular structure. We all know we can pass sunlight through a prism and see each separate color that is visible because of these different wavelengths and is bent at a slightly separate angle.
Rainbows are formed by water acting as a natural prism to magnify the seven hue
colors.
Try to remember red has the longest wavelength we see but has the shortest vibration. It is warming and stimulating and contains magnetic energy. Then violet has the fastest vibration and the shortest wavelength and is known to be cleansing and calming. At both ends of the spectrum are other invisible wavelengths. Beyond the ultraviolet source are electromagnetic rays with increasing frequencies. As they grow shorter they will include x- rays and gamma rays. At the opposite end, the infrared light has warming qualities with more concentrated heat, which is utilized in infrared lamps. Beyond this, with decreasing frequencies and increasing wavelengths, you’ll find radio and television wavelengths also invisible.
All colors of light together will make white light. When you use three different colors, red- orange, green, and blue- violet on separate dimmer switches, you should be able to control them enough to make each color of the spectrum. This will be very useful for color therapists when they use individual colors for potential help when healing with light. They almost always want to follow up in a session with the complimentary color. Remember, when mixing all colors together to produce white, you must use colors of light! The colors of pigments, used in fabrics and many different materials, have the primary colors of red, yellow, and blue. They are called primary because they cannot be mixed with any other color to form what they are. This method of subtractive mixing of color is utilized in paints, clothing, and furnishings. When all colors are arranged in a circle they form a color wheel. When a color falls opposite another, it is called a complimentary color. These colors have a purpose much higher than for ordinary use. These colors have mystical and interesting use. The concept is similar to negative and positive magnets that attract each other; complimentary colors do the same thing. This is easy to prove and just as amazing: stare at one color for a few minutes, then look away and you will see the complimentary color. Thus, if you look at red for two minutes, you will see green when you turn away. Think about it! This is the reason all operating rooms are painted green and the surgeons wear green. Prior to this, doctors would look away during an operation and see spots on the wall: green spots, the compliment of red! And of course they would become confused until someone figured out to use green in the rest of the room. This is just one small, but beneficial, use of the correct color.
This is the wisdom of just one of the beneficial uses of color.
Know too, if you combine any two of the primary colors, you will create a secondary color. An example is red and yellow together create orange. In turn, yellow and blue make green, and blue and red make violet. All primary colors combine to create black. Occasionally you will find a slight difference in the arrangement of the colors in a color wheel, although the ones shown here are the most widely used. Some color wheels will include turquoise as the color blue, which is all right although the color indigo is also used. Then there will be uneven numbers and they will not match the usual complimentary color. There are times when magenta is used in between violet and red. When in England, watch for white to be used instead of violet. When you take the time to learn a sequence of color as shown here, you can’t go wrong!
Tints and Shades of Color
Most color therapists include the use of shades and tints when working with the seven colors of the spectrum, to promote healing! When white is blended with any color of the spectrum, this is called a tint. For years many thought a color was weaker when white was added, but it is just the opposite. Since there is a quiet strength in white light, it will also strengthen any color it is added to. This will also be a strong healing color. A color is called a shade when degrees of black are added to it. This will have a calmer, more subdued effect on the body. A therapist will usually consider tints to be positive, on the lighter side. A shade to be negative when black is added. When seeking a diagnosis, even a shade may be useful since it may point out areas needing attention.
The language given to each color may vary slightly, especially in other countries. We use the word hue
to designate the major colors of the spectrum. Although every color may appear different
