    About the Author Karen Geffert is a retired elementary school principal. Her degrees include a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master of Arts in Special Education. She is the mother of three grown children - Paul, Sandy, and Mike. It was her grandchildren’s love of reading that inspired her to write children’s books. Karen resides in Kingwood, Texas which is located about 22 miles northeast of Houston. Reading, writing and teaching are her passions. About the Illustrator Linda D. Munroe is a loving wife, mother and teacher who now enjoys working from home. Raised a small town farm girl, Linda has love for animals, nature, and gardening. Her husband, Jeff, often willingly serves as guinea-pig for her organic cooking creations. The four family dogs add great adventure to their lives. Linda’s art is done in a variety of mediums from oils to watercolor, sculpture to woodwork, and sewing to needlepoint. She has degrees in art and interdisciplinary studies; she is also a certified elementary school teacher. She is a survivor of Acute Myelocytic Leukemia; diagnosed in November 2005 and after undergoing a year of treatments which included 2 rounds of radiation and 5 rounds of chemotherapy, she was confirmed cancer free. Against all odds of being able to have children, in 2009 she was blessed with her son Lawson, born a Micro-Preemie at 23 weeks and 5 days weighing 1 pound 5 ounces. Lawson is a healthy miracle child and he, like his mother, is an incredible survivor.
