PREFACE

Gratitude is the cornerstone of a delightful abundant life

Hooked on rebirthing and the purification techniques offered by Leonard Orr, whom I thank from the bottom of my heart for being in my life, I decided to write my first book, sharing my personal development and spiritual journey as a Rebirther.

It was a heavy labor but well worth it for the baby’s birth. Without the patient and courageous help of Ann Dullaert I would not have been able to do so. She was my green-fingered gardener, my caretaker and, not least of all, my typist, typing out the 60-page interview Lief did on me. I thank Lief, the midwife upgrading her skills at university, for the special angle she gave on me as a rebirther.

I thank Yokoshi, my Siamese cat, for sharing my bed. For the patience she had, staring at me while waiting for a free, gentle caress, as she crossed over the keyboard of my pc. I most of all thank her for mirroring my hectic emotional moments when she lay tenderly in my arms and transformed my pain and sadness. Thank you for the 20 years of soft and tender friendship. Be well, my honeybun!

I thank Stranger, who bluntly stepped into the house after seeing Losty, my nephew’s cat on holiday. He put his name on the door and chose his couch. He is the first male allowed in my intimate life.

I thank Arnold, my publisher/friend for publishing the Dutch version of the book in the Benelux.

That I could live in the heart of Brussels in a great house with an even greater garden, I thank to Patrick and Claude Alberty, my beloved niece and nephew. Thank you Loic, sun and son of Claude and Edouard for coming into my life allowing me to be the aunt with a heart of a god-mother! Giving me the five when you were three months old confirmed our complicity! One of another nature! Food for a great story.

Therese, my sister, Gigi, her dog and Cady, Kaye’s bird on holiday, I thank you all for your lovable hospitality, housing and loving me in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Pat thank you for allowing me in your house, your garden, your intimacy. You all make my life sunnier and easier when lecturing about rebirthing in Johannesburg, P.E., Pretoria and Durban. I thank South Africa for the wonderful basic energy revitalising my energetic field. I thank Evy Evlambiou and Maria Markides, the two angels who 13 years ago, on a special day, invited me to lecture about rebirthing at their spiritual Creative Living festival in P.E. South Africa.

Francesca Pinoni, Dr.Igor and Cheecky their dog for inviting me to their Body-mind and spirit festival and housing me in Cyprus.

I thank every day and myself for the great health, wealth, emotional and mental intelligence giving me the inner strength and wisdom for conscious, unconditional freedom. Even if it is not always as easy to be free and give freedom, freedom is my life’s purpose! Thank you, Sun, Moon and Rain … thank you, Nature. I am totally happy belonging in creation and living in the NOW! Technical gadgets such as mobile phones and pcs are my tools of spiritual communication. The black pencil remains the language of my soul.

My two enlightened souls Gaby and Ree are in my love top ten of favourite girls. You both make it possible for me to pop in every two years and spend some time in Sedona, Arizona. You allow me to share your warmth and fun in your special house. Climbing Cathedral Rock and Secret Canyon, unravelling our wisdom, craziness and dumbness are our daily communication. A good glass of wine and some good, healthy food our daily bread. Gaby, you are still my number one! Tons of gratitude for correcting my translation from Dutch to US English.

Thank you, mammy, for helping with my self-creation. I never would have been who I am nor had the life I’ve had without you being my mom. You gave me the necessary freedom to find out who I was and did not make a big deal of me being different and gay! You loved my way of being eccentric, shaving my head at the age of 35, dressing fancy and hip. Weeks before you left earth, you’d agreed that I’m probably your reincarnated mom who died at a pretty young age.

In 1998 Etienne Vanderzijpen of Thermae Grimbergen offered me a unique chance to promote myself in his exclusive SPA as a rebirther at his highly-frequented counter which I did without hesitation. It was something I was ready for. The following Tuesday I had three clients, then every day that passed, more people came to see me. The next month Lara wrote up an interview for Het Laatste Nieuws, the biggest-selling newspaper in Belgium. My career took off like a rocket. The Belgian TV show Man bijt hond (Man bites dog) covered my rebirthing sessions that day, Vlaanderen Vakantieland (Flanders Vacation Nation) later and Afrit 9 (Exit 9) a month further on. The phone kept ringing. Many merely curious people, but plenty wanting to do some personal development.

I thank Lieve for genuinly letting me use the space to rebirth people in St. Denijs Westrem, Belgium.

Thank you, Jenn and Pete, Casa Linga, Johannesburg South Africa, for building a gazebo in your private garden, letting me into your space and accommodating me with love, rawfood and laughter.

Paul, Frank and Daniel, thank you for your energy. You all three made my life a better place. Thank you

MOM YOU WENT LIKE A QUEEN of Breath

M.Rose shares with us the touching story of her Mom’s passing over…

The 14th of February, Valentine’s Day … A week ago mom had a stroke and, as before, recovered quite quickly. After all the intimate discussions we had about believing in a healthy, qualitative, physical, emotional and mental life, she believed in being Physically Alive Forever and knew she did not have to deteriorate physically in order to die. During the last years we were together two days a week. We very often talked about death. She was so curious! I told her to remember death is passing over, going to live another life by choice. The only difference was that now when she told me that was it … she had decided on going for real. It was written in her look.

After giving her the various options, Mom chose to go on a fast, giving up drinking and eating. And if she did eat, it was so little it wouldn’t have fed a bird. She was beautiful as always. Her face was open and receiving. Her small, almost Asian, eyes scanned like lasers. She looked straight through you. She saw everything … Even the things you wanted to hide from her, not wanting to hurt her. Not one wrinkle, except for the laughter lines, was drawn on her face. She was so proud of the fact that she washed her face with pure rainwater. She lived her life her own way. Who do you think I learned it from?

Lately I realised that mom was my biggest teacher. Later in life she accepted me as hers. To my great joy she listened to what I told her! She listened selectively and only took in what was important for her. Even when I said something casually, she heard it and had questions about it.

When I taught her how to be Physically Alive Forever …and promised her that the thought itself made the difference she would need to live longer, she looked at me with so much love and gratitude I could hardly bear it. Are you sure, Rose, that I can do this? she asked, two question marks in her eyes!

Mom … did I ever lie to you? Her answer was direct! NO! She knew how much I loved her and only wanted the best for her.

Four times in her life Mom got very ill … At the age of 84 quite lonely and tired of life she attracted a stroke paralysing the left half of her body. She could no longer hear nor speak. As my brother and his wife Lisette were on their way to the butcher, only three doors away from my mom’s house, Lisette insisted on passing by. Lucky they did because they found her on the ground! She had fallen!

My first Siamese cat Yokosh" licked her continuously and brought her back to the NOW. Mom told me herself once she was better.

Ten years later … a stomach haemorrhage. The doctors told her a haematoma in her stomach had started bleeding. A doctor—friend of mine told me it probably was due to the blood thinners.

Two years later, another stroke … and then another, each time choosing life. Every time I let her see that she was in charge and could choose to live or to die. And that, whatever her choice would be, I was there to help her.

She lived. Maybe because I had not let go of her or she had not really chosen to die. But it was her decision time after time, to go on living.

I remember so well how she asked me tears in her eyes what would happen to me if she died.

I will live a qualitative physical, mental and emotional harmonious life! I will go on believing in Being Physically Alive Forever because only by the thought I will live longer and who knows create this way the chance to be a Physically Alive Forever Being. Like you now I will decide whether and how I want to go!

Between her 84th and her 96th birthday, I was there to remind her that she had a choice. And she did choose, over and over. Each time she chose life!
