    The Great Architect of All Reality, another name for the unknown source that created the foundation for existence, had the wherewithal or playfulness to riddle creation with an eclectic mix of contradictory forces in humans and nature. In its infinite wisdom or ultimate boredom, the Architect instructed evolution to create humans and some say this act added stupidity to the divine designers mix!

    While stupidity serves a critical role in helping us discern the behaviors that stall our climb up the evolutionary ladder, it is the active pursuit of connection, one of the Architects hidden ingredients, that allows us to scale the ladder of evolution with speed and begin reconciling the appearance of differences between us. Connection exposes the illusions of separation and provides the opportunity to reunite diametrically opposed perspectives we inherit or acquire through our social, cultural, religious, and ethnic conditioning.

    The poems in this book are the insightful expressions of an author who is passionate about creating harmony between humans, the most complex of the Architects riddles. Through his words, the author attempts to elevate and worship the ordinary moments in life; expose the poisons in becoming a political or religious ideologue; explore the strained relationship between the intellect and the heart; ponder the cosmic aspects of patriotism; reveal the invisible demons of love; and convey sensitive, but instructive, snippets about race and color. Mixed in with these thought-provoking utterances is the authors ailing sense of humor, offering the opportunity to view serious matters through the lens of comedy.

    Through the solemn and amusing prose, there is an opportunity to begin new conversations that may help us acknowledge and, through introspection, challenge our silent conditioninga first step in finding the keys to meaningful connection and harmony in all human affairs.

    Robîn R. Rabii describes himself as an ordinary kid born to extraordinarily loving and creative parents who raised him and his siblings as Black Hebrews in a peculiar religious order. The love of his parents and, to some extent, the idealistic teachings of this religious sect set his young mind on fire with curiosity of the magnificent capabilities of human beings, prompting a lifelong search to understand the conditions that inspire and destroy these capabilities. He emerged from this interesting mix of life circumstances as an adult who embraces the marriage between pragmatism, idealism, and mysticism, merging their clashing principles to create poems that stir the imagination. Robîn is a father, musician, poet, inventor, author, small business owner, and financial administrator who calls upstate New York his home. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a “PhD” in irreverent comedy.

      Preface

      If the true wealth of the soul is determined by exposure to, or indulgence in, a diversity of life experiences, then the wealthiest among us are those who are wise enough to bathe their senses and their hopes and dreams in the oceans of open-mindedness. The waters of an open mind run deep to a vast and boundless space where the infinite varieties of thought species live unassumingly on the ocean floor of consciousness. Flowing quietly in the depths of the unknown, these untamed and lonesome thoughts abide far beyond the stagnating droplets of convention and light-years away from the familiar realms that exist on the surface of our awareness.

      True open-mindedness cannot be reached easily. One must travel tremendous distances beyond one’s thinking habits to swim in its subterranean bliss. The untainted desire to reach this destination is one of the few but early signals of an awakening. Something within has found a way to bypass conditioning and begun to whisper the vision of true freedom in the ears of the heart. When one begins to sense this vision, however faintly, aspects of the closed mind are revealed incrementally, and the ardent desire to position oneself for a fundamental change in mind takes hold of one’s being. A mind that is positioned to be opened is ready to begin treading the mysterious path that leads to a connection with something, someone, some experience, or some concept foreign to that mind but that leads it steadily toward the promised land of open-mindedness. This type of mind, during this phase of the transformation, stands on the threshold of expansion and is more receptive to the kiss of life, a catch-all phrase that signals one’s journey toward embracing a limitless diversity of perspectives, possibilities, realities, and mysteries.

      The kiss of life represents the priceless gift of life experiences that are transmitted by the Giver of Life (another name for the unknown cosmic source that created the foundation for existence) to the lips of an individuated spark of itself (us!). It personifies the encouragement that we feel from an unknown place inside that we can’t see or touch, reminding the adventurer to stay the course and pursue the journey to opening one’s mind. The kiss is also the signature of courage a pioneer carves into the fleshy parts of the heart, reflecting a solemn promise to circumnavigate the terrain of the soul and bring back to the mind the treasures that expand one’s horizons beyond social, cultural, religious, and ethnic conditioning. These treasures are golden, causing temporary discomfort to longstanding comfort zones, rudely interrupting lifelong patterns that have been nurtured by the thinking habits of generations. The kisses in life that we are fortunate enough to experience while we are alive are the unanticipated blessings that emerge when we become fully conscious of the most important questions about life. The kisses are wet with passion, revealing the deep connection (and dare I say responsibility) to all that is!

      With each and every incarnation in the cosmos, the Giver of Life knows itself better through the varying levels of revelation and wisdom that may occur during the life span of some of its creations (a.k.a. us). One kiss from the Giver of Life can be deeply moving
