    INTRODUCTION

            The big war had ended. In 1945 two sisters who had lost their family found each other in Frankfort, Germany. After a joyful reunion they began planning their future together vowing never to let anything separate them again. Before the war their father bought and sold antiques. The girls decided to follow in his footsteps and opened a small antique shop. Things were slow at first but the business grew and after a few years they began to travel purchasing unique and different items.

            In the summer of 1949 Anita Krebbs, the older of the two sisters, made a wonderful purchase from an older Jewish gentleman. One of the pieces happened to be an old Middle Eastern vase.

            The man, who was trying to get back on his feet again after the war, sold his most precious family heirlooms in an attempt to start over. Not much was known about the man, but his antique furniture pieces were truly magnificent. Anita’s purchase of the simple vase was only because all three pieces were sold together in a package deal.

            Once the three antiques were back in the sister’s store, the two furniture pieces sold quickly. A small handful of customers, temporarily acted interested in the vase but the vase never sold.

            In early February of 1999, both sisters decided it was time to retire. They decided it was time to close the doors on their beloved antique shop. Two months later, after several sales, they
