    . . . . you have failed . . . . you . . . have . . . f.a.i.l.e.d!

He bellowed, as hot and thick smoke rose to an unseen height. He disappeared amidst a huge eruption of what appeared to be larva. There was a loud commotion below, then sounds of howling animals.

Beelze was left standing, paralyzed with fear. Knowing he could do nothing and not certain what would become of him.

His host was lost. There was no way of hiding his failure. This was never to happen to him or anyone he had been told. There was not a chance in hell he could revise his assignment.

The host that he had taken care of all the time, almost all her life had slipped him. What of the hundreds, or even thousands or more he was supposed to bring in?

Beelze could not believe this had happened to him. Chances were, he would no longer be allowed above, to mingle with the sons of man. He had no point hoping, there was no such here. The madness down in this realm!

The place was horribly suffocating with a putrid smell. Beelze wished he could be no more.

Scotching wind blew fiercely about him. The smell of sulphur was chokingly real and threatening to smoother him. Something continued to graze his scalp forcing him to sway side ways and loose balance.

About twenty feet to the left rose a sound like enormous metal grinding, the noise was bellowing and indistinguishable. Down here was not a moment of peace. Not a moment of rest.

Beelze’s punishment was left unsaid. He would know its full extent when his failed job was handed over to another for execution. The rest of his missions were immediately taken over. Meanwhile he was to stand where he stood and rot! He had been better off above with humans, at least for now, that he was sure of.

    Beelze

Beelze had been entrusted with Ruby, he and his cohorts called her Mrs Blynd. This time he had been given the assignment to finally secure the life of the Captains wife. Indeed Ruby had not been much of a challenge for Beelze. She had been one of the easiest people to mislead all her life. Show her some glitter here and there, put up before her some fake glory, and tell her she is getting younger all the time, you have her for ever! Said Beelze just the previous month.

She lived with her husband who was more or less the same. She had many strongholds that she had given to Beelze. All of her life, she had shut off the door to her heart. She had become strictly reserved for this entity. Her eyes and ears were ever up above in the clouds. Her life had always been hers and hers alone she thought. She had no regard for anyone but her husband and a few friends. Foolish this woman could be. Beelze had been secure where she was concerned. He had not worried of failing on Ruby. He was not even trying to take credit
