Prologue

T he banishment realm was a small piece of wasteland on the furthest outskirts of Zatheria on a tiny island, with only a single mausoleum that lead to the human world; but only granted access once a week for several hours.

Allowing those banished to temporarily leave for food or any supplies. Unable to set foot on Zatherian soil, they had to get what they wanted from the humans or remain on the island and risk dying.

Alexandria Silverstone is one of many creatures who have to face exile.

Cast aside by Kiara Rosewood; her own flesh and blood, for treason against the Royal family.

Sadly for Alex, exile had quite the impact on her particular lifestyle; fortunately she was just barely able to survive on the bodies she collected.

The story of Alexandria, Kiara and Jewels goes further back than this, back when they were all human.

It began 10 years ago in the year 2002, Alex, Kiara and Jewels were all close cousins.

Kiara was the eldest of the three girls; she had short chestnut hair, hazel eyes and light features.

Jewels was the youngest, with dark brown hair, light brown eyes as well as tanned skin.

Finally was Alex, the second eldest; with long raven hair, dark eyes and olive skin.

As children the girls had the wildest and most creative imaginations.

Together, they created numerous worlds filled with hundreds of different creatures, and they were their rulers.

The roles they commonly played were Vampires, in which they would pretend to be sisters who were handpicked by Count Dracula himself; to rule over the World of Darkness, and all other mythical creatures in existence.

It was referred to as The Game.

The Game starts with 10 year old Alex and Kiara and 8 year old Jewels, commonly at their grandmothers house; where during any occasion the girls would sneak off from the rest of the family into their own worlds.

The game would begin like this:

The girls would awake to find themselves in a large stone bricked dungeon that stretched up for what seemed to be miles.

It was darker the further up they looked, but with several flame torches hanging on the walls, it allowed them to see a stone balcony a few feet above them; as well as a large wooden door in the corner of the room.

Confused, the girls tried to develop solutions for escape, but were interrupted by a male voice.

Hello girls it softly spoke.

The girls slowly looked up to see a cloaked figure in black standing upon the balcony.

W… who are you? Kiara asked.

And where the hell are we?! Alex demanded.

The figure softly chuckled before answering.

My dear, dear girls all will be explained shortly, I promise he reassured them.

One click of his fingers and the wooden door creaked opened revealing a lightly lit corridor.

I… I’m not going through there Jewels stuttered.

So you want to stay here? Alone… ? Alex questioned her as she lead the way out, followed by Kiara then by a slightly scared Jewels.

The girls then entered a corridor, which led down to a small hall and at the end were 4 wooden doors.

The walls were made of red velvet, and there were candles nestled in golden holders dotted upon them.

Suddenly the door on the far right creaked open, the girls cautiously peered inside and saw a stunning, luxurious master bedroom.

Oh wow, come on! Alex giggled as she pulled Kiara and Jewels into the room with her.

This room is amazing Jewels gasped in surprise.

They all gazed around the room from top to bottom.

Beautiful beige carpet covered the floor, and crimson red curtains draped from the large floor to ceiling windows.

Cream furniture with gold designs sat perfectly around the room, then in the centre a majestic four post king size bed with white and gold sheets upon it.

It’s like bloody Buckingham Palace in here Alex said in awe.

How charming chuckled a familiar voice.

The girls all gasped and briefly froze, before turning around to see that same cloaked figure once more.

Who are you? Kiara timidly asked.

Ah, ah, there are a set of clothes on the bed, please get dressed then proceed out that door over there he said as he motioned his hand.

The girls turned to the bed then to the door, but once they turned back to the stranger, but he had vanished.

This is odd… Kiara trailed off.

They closely observed the Victorian style dresses that lay there in three different colours; red, black and royal green.

The gowns appeared to have all been tailored to the girls’ sizes, Alex wore the black dress, Kiara wore the red and Jewels wore the green.

Once dressed the girls were proud and surprised at how lovely they all looked in their attire.

Why do you think he gave us all this? Kiara suspiciously asked.

No idea Alex responded while gazing at herself in the mirror.

What now? Jewels questioned.

May as well do what he said Alex answered.

So as they were told by the stranger, the girls went through the door that led into another corridor decorated similarly to the one they walked down earlier.

At the end stood a large set of dark wooden doors decorated with black gothic designs.

I’m guessing we go through there Kiara sarcastically pointed out.

I’m guessing so too, since there are no other doors down here Alex responded.

Kiara and Alex pushed the doors and gasped at the amazing dining hall before them.

Gold, blue and cream decorated the walls; the table itself stretched nearly 50 metres across with silver plates and cutlery gracing the table.

I could get used to this Alex said, they then proceeded into the room.

There you are my dears, please sit instructed a voice.

Looking around the girls saw no one, but did as they were told, and each took a seat.

A loud swish sound, and suddenly that reappearing cloaked black figure; was sitting at the head of the table. Alex was sitting on his right with Kiara and Jewels on her left.

This is all nice and whatever but where are we? And as my cousin has already asked, who are you? Alex demanded of the stranger.

The figure removed the concealing cloak, and before the girls sat a man of legend.

Actually he wasn’t much of a man, more a creature- The creature of Darkness, The prince, Count Dracula; stunning mid length black hair, icy blue eyes and skin as pale as the moon.

Ladies, I am Count Vladimir Dracula, welcome to my home he warmly said.

Amazed, but slightly scared, Kiara cautiously spoke out to him.

What do you want with us? she politely asked.

You see girls, my throne is in need of fresh blood and after several hundred years my bride and I have decided to step down he explained as he paced around the room.

So by fresh blood you mean-Jewels started.

I’ve had you all under close observation for years and you have proven to be perfect. You see, the dead cannot give birth to live children; and I have had to seek proper heirs to my throne, which is the three of you he continued.

Without even thinking twice, the girls immediately agreed.

Upon agreement Dracula then took them each into a room of their own. They waited anxiously for him to come and fulfil their dark desire.

In a sharp bite, and a brief lack of blood each girl passed out into cold darkness.

Not long after did they awake.

Their senses had changed; their skin became deathly cold and their teeth sharp to a point.

Once awake they all gathered together in Jewel’s room; they sat in astonishment as they began to get use to the strange sensation that had overcome them.

It happened Alex screamed.

During a brief moment of silence the girls could hear classical music along with talking and laughter.

What’s that noise? Jewels asked.

They then started walking around the room trying to find where the noise was coming from.

Over here! Kiara shouted.

Alex and Jewels ran over to Kiara who had discovered a wooden door hidden behind a blue tapestry that hung on the wall.

Kiara opened the door with Alex and Jewels following behind her, the girls then realised they were back in the dining room.

The noise is louder but I don’t see anything Kiara said.

Yeah, so where is it coming from? Alex asked as she too was confused.

There, through those doors! Jewels stated as she ran over to a beautiful set of white doors, as they approached it gracefully opened.

To their great surprise the girls had entered a beautiful ball room full of people; men, women and children were all dressed in the most elegant clothing.

Upon the girls’ arrival, silence had fallen upon the ball room.

Well Kiara, you’re the oldest, you go first Alex said as she pushed Kiara further inside.

I hate you Kiara hissed.

As the girls entered everyone began clapping and cheering.

Ladies and gentlemen please welcome the new heirs to the throne; and who are now officially my new daughters called out a familiar voice.

The people then stepped aside clearing a path to where Dracula and a beautiful woman stood.

He did tell the girls he had a wife, so they assumed that was her, she certainly was a beautiful lady with luxurious black hair and glistening green eyes complemented by her light skin.

Dracula extended his hand towards the girls, motioning for them to come forward; he then positioned them in a line before everyone.

Ladies and gentlemen thank you all coming here for the official crowning ceremony he proudly announced.

Crowning ceremony now? Kiara whispered to Alex.

Sure, why not? she blankly responded.

I the Great Count Dracula and my wife Camula are announcing that today we hand over our positions as rulers of Darkness to these three willing and promising young ladies he exclaimed.

Murmurs among the audience could be heard, but soon changed into joyful clapping and cheering. He then called on them one by one to step forward.

He then crowned each girl; Kiara, Alex and Jewels;

the audience then all cheered and clapped once more.

I’m positive these girls will lead you all into a future of power and prosperity! Dracula declared.

Shortly after, a number of vampires paid their respects to the girls before leaving; soon they were left alone with their new parents.

Girls, you are dismissed; we shall talk more tomorrow evening he graciously said.
