ONCE UPON A FAIRIES WING
F or Tessie… . No one loved and respected Nature, quite the way you did. I’m sure by now, you are painting each and every flower petal, dancing on glistening waters, making music with the winds… and teaching the Fairies a thing or two about mortals… . RIP my lovely friend… .
SKU-000658746_TEXT.pdfFAIRY—PLAY
Ride with me through the night,
Grab my hand, hold on tight
Stars awaken to watch us play
nothing to stop us but the light of day.
Dancing atop warm pink sands
our magic spreading across the land.
Moonlight whispers, catch us if you can.
Jumping as high as gossamer wings
Straddle the crescent, watch us swing.
Dodging raindrops as the fall
Fairy games are the best of all!

T here is a magical land that is so unlike the world in which we live, yet it is separated from our mortal world by only a gossamer veil.
It’s hidden in a candles flame, or sometimes in a rain drop! It isn’t easy to reach this enchanted land, but then again at times it is ever so easy!
It is a place we have all been tempted to visit mainly out of curiosity. Perhaps the interest unfolded through childhood story books and nursery rhymes.
It’s a place that some of us return through meditation or slumber time as we drift off to sleep. Still others are lucky enough to find it through total enchantment!
Many people think this land exists in our imagination, but fortunate are those who truly BELIEVE!
There are those that know beyond a doubt that this ethereal world existed long before our mortal world was created. It was a miraculous place where peace and beauty reigned supreme. In this place, time was not measured in the way it is here in the mortal world; instead it’s defined by the glistening of dew on the brightly colored flowers that many of these worlds’ inhabitants called home. This is a land where all life was interwoven in serendipitous splendor.
What happened to end this harmonious existence? Was it mortal mans greed and hunger for power and control that sent the ethereal beings spinning out and away to the realm of the in between?
As mankind gained control the assault on nature began. Trees and plant life were destroyed to make way for man and his communities. This sent the wee-ones deeper and deeper into the woods. Man continued to take their sacred land until there were no hiding places left on this earthly plane. Eventually the fairy folk fled underground and slipped quietly into the Other World.
There are many theories on the who and why of the fairy realm by mythologists and folklorists. Is there truly a land between life and death? Could the fairy realm be a place where all departed souls advance to await reincarnation? Or is it as mythologists believe, Fairy as elemental spirit?
For instance, take the Druid theory that fairies are simply folk memory from early Druid magical practices. Whichever theory we are willing to accept, it doesn’t alter the fact that the tales and stories weaved of this magical realm have been treasured since time as we know it began. Be it real or make-believe, man’s creative self has been inspired to write and draw and learn more about this secret society.
There isn’t one of us mortals who have not been captivated and enchanted by the timeless tales of this mysterious realm and the fascinating creatures that dwell there. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Jack and the Beanstalk, Puss N Boots are a small sampling of the magic of the fairy realm and they still continue to enchant children of all ages today!
My interest in the fairy realm was fueled in childhood by a combination of tales told by my Mum and Nana, a collection
