    Dedication

Dedicated to Abraham and his biological descendants since the Lord God Almighty used them to popularise the Hebrew concept. Also to all those who lived most part of their lives away from their supposed native land like Abraham spent the last 100 of his 175 years outside Mesopotamia, his traditional native land. Also included are all those who regarded

God Almighty and were granted eternal bliss

after their inevitably short stay on earth.

    Appreciation

As always, all glory to God that this is available for others to read. Lord, everything in this call and commission is your doing and it is marvellous in my eyes. A million thanks for giving me the privilege to serve as sole administrator of this foreordained purpose.

God bless Cletus Okuguni for serving as editorial assistant. Mrs Yvonne Olatunbosun, my principal editor did editorial duties. My Lola did not fail in her overwhelming support throughout the writing and production of this work. May God swell your heavenly accounts richly, in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

    Introduction

All things being equal, all humans have the famous five senses of seeing, smelling, hearing feeling and tasting. All have the common features of eyes, ears, hands, nose, tongue, etc. Perhaps, more importantly Acts 17:26 says that God made all humans before mankind’s unacceptable ambition to build a tower that would have reached to God’s throne in heaven. We shall not dwell on the subject of abhorrent ambition, its victors and victims and allied matters. All humans have flesh, blood and water in their body. In fact, they all have spirit, soul and body and are of a particular sex either male, female or shemale. Sexual instinct is common to all though the degree varies. All humans communicate and therefore, there is communication in all cultures and countries of the world. Sleeping and eating, like drinking and singing and dancing, sadness and joy are common to all, though at different times. All humans experience hurts and happiness, though at different times, ways and seasons.

And now, the Pocket Bible Dictionary with comprehensive bible helps revised and edited by Philip Schaff, D.d., L.L.D., and further condensed by Jubilee Publishers, Inc., Lebanon, TN 37088, copyright 1996, on pages 88-89 says, He’brew—This word, which is used as a Gentile appellation for the descendants of Abraham, and applied to himself also, denotes one who comes from beyond, from the other side, or who has passed over, and is commonly regarded as having reference to Abraham’s passing over the river Euphrates on his way to Canaan. Therefore, all hovering humans are Hebrews or all those who travelled to settle anywhere are Hebrews. This is more so when we understand that all humans are coming from creation on their way to eternity. We travel from birth through adulthood to old age and death, if God allows longevity. Man travels from ignorance to knowledge and wisdom.

Confirming the fact that Abraham was considered the first Hebrew, Genesis 14:13 says—

13 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew (one from the other side), who was living by the oaks or terebinths of Mamre the Amorite, a brother of Eshcol and of Aner—these were allies of Abram. (Amplified)

13 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, for he dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner; and they were allies with Abram. (NKJV)

Also important is the fact that Isaiah 42:5-9, 48:12-13, 51:13a and Acts 17:24-28 say—

5 God created the heavens and stretched them out; he fashioned the earth and all that lives there; he gave life and breath to all its people. And now the Lord God says to his servant, 6 I, the Lord, have called you and given you power to see that justice is done on earth. Through you I will make a covenant with all peoples; through you I will bring light to the nations. 7 You will open the eyes of the blind and set free those who sit in dark prisons. 8 I alone am the Lord your God. No other god may share my glory; I will not let idols share my praise. 9 The things I predicted have now come true. Now I will tell you of new things even before they begin to happen."

12 The Lord says, "Listen to me, Israel, the people I have called! I am God, the first, the last, the only God! 13 My hands made the earth’s foundations and spread the heavens out. When I summon earth and sky, they come at once and present themselves.

13 Have you forgotten the Lord who made you, who stretched out the heavens and laid the earth’s foundations? Why should you live in constant fear of the fury of those who oppress you, of those who are ready to destroy you? Their fury can no longer touch you.

24 God, who made the world and everything in it, is Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in man-made temples. 25 Nor does he need anything that we can supply by working for him, since it is he himself who gives life and breath and everything else to everyone. 26 From one man he created all races of mankind and made them live throughout the whole earth. He himself fixed beforehand the exact times and the limits of the places where they would live. 27 He did this so that they would look for him, and perhaps find him as they felt around for him. Yet God is actually not far from any one of us; 28 as someone has said, ‘In him we live and move and exist.’ It is as some of your poets have said, ‘We too are his children.’ (TEV)

If the reason Abraham was christened Hebrew by his host community natives was because he crossed over the great River Euphrates to settle among them, then anyone that crosses over a distance or from overseas to settle in a new place is a Hebrew in that sense. If the Hebrew name stuck to Abraham and his descendants and God did not ask them to change it or refuse it, and more importantly, they are chosen by God to reveal His greatness and glory to all generations, then we can safely say that God meant the Hebrew appellation to show to us that man is a Hebrew in every way while on earth. Ruth started her life in Moab, continued to Bethlehem where Ruth 1-4 and Matthew 1:1-17(6) confirm that she registered her name in the roll of the ancestors of mankind’s Messiah. Genesis 38 and Joshua 2 and 6 say that Tamar and Rahab left their hometowns to marry Judah and Salmon respectively, and as a result, they are mentioned among the matriarchs of mankind’s Messiah in Matthew 1:1-6-17 like Ruth. My mum left her hometown to marry my father and they spent their last 55 years together without any break, except that Daddy was a travelling man at some stage of his life. Mum and we their children relocated to wherever Daddy decided, as long as they lived together until death separated them according to God’s will. David’s wives hailed from different places. He never married any woman from his hometown of Bethlehem and he went everywhere with his wives.

All humans are travellers through earth. Therefore, this could have been titled The Great Journey or Mankind’s Monumental Migration or The Ever Migrating Mankind, Man’s Lifetime Odyssey or Man’s Earthly Migration, We are all Hebrews or We are all Hebrewing. We shall not delve into the aspect of Hopeful Hebrews and Hopeless Hebrews" on earth in any generation and locality. All humans experience happiness as well as sadness while Hebrewing through the world into eternity. We are all coming from creation and going to eternity with a stopover on earth, to determine or choose where we would spend eternity—heaven or hell.

Another way that everyone is a Hebrew is that all humans make attempts to travel from failure to success, smallness to greatness, though not everyone succeeds. When II Samuel 7:8-9 says—

8 "So tell my servant David that I, the LORD Almighty, say to him, ‘I took you from looking after sheep in the fields and made you the ruler of my people Israel. 9 I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have defeated all your enemies as you advanced. I will make you as famous as the greatest leaders in the world. (TEV)

God meant that HE helped David to traverse from smallness to greatness and removed every obstacle on his way in this journey. Joseph travelled from the status of a slave through prison to become Prime Minister in Egypt. There is educational, professional and career travelling from irrelevance to relevance. David typifies A Nobody made Somebody very Significant by God Almighty. Firstly, I Kings 14:7-9, 15:25-28 and 16:1-4 say—

7 Go and tell Jeroboam that this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to him: ‘I chose you from among the people and made you the ruler of my people Israel. 8 I took the kingdom away from David’s descendants and gave it to you. But you have not been like my servant David, who was completely loyal to me, obeyed my commands, and did only what I approve of. 9 You have committed far greater sins than those who ruled before you. You have rejected me and have aroused my anger by making idols and metal images to worship.

25 In the second year of the reign of King Asa of Judah, King Jeroboam’s son Nadab became king of Israel, and he ruled for two years. 26 Like his father before him, he sinned against the LORD and led Israel into sin. 27 Baasha son of Ahijah, of the tribe of Issachar, plotted against Nadab and killed him as Nadab and his army were besieging the city of Gibbethon in Philistia. 28 This happened during the third year of the reign of King Asa of Judah. And so Baasha succeeded Nadab as king of Israel. 29 At once he began killing all the members of Jeroboam’s family. In accordance with what the LORD had said through his servant, the prophet Ahijah from Shiloh, all of Jeroboam’s family were killed; not one survived. 30 This happened because Jeroboam aroused the anger of the LORD, the God of Israel, by the sins that he committed and that he caused Israel to commit.

1 The LORD spoke to the prophet Jehu son of Hanani and gave him this message for Baasha: 2 You were a nobody, but I made you the leader of my people Israel. And now you have sinned like Jeroboam and have led my people into sin. Their sins have aroused my anger, 3 and so I will do away with you and your family, just as I did with Jeroboam. 4 Any members of your family who die in the city will be eaten by dogs, and any who die in the open country will be eaten by vultures. (TEV)

We see what we can call Like David, like Jeroboam and Baasha. The three of them were never born as princes of their nation, rather, they were peasants when God made them kings of Israel in their respective generations. We shall not digress into what we can call Like David unlike Jeroboam and Baasha which is about the fact that while David delighted God, Jeroboam and Baasha disgusted God after becoming conscious of their greatness. Bible Historians agree that God revealed through a young prophet from Judah that Josiah would be a king who would carry out religious reformations 250 years before he lived to accomplish this purpose. He was born into David’s ruling house or dynasty. The other obvious issue in the above passage that we shall not digress into is the fact that God ordained the reign of the man (Baasha) who killed his predecessor to become king. Also, though he fulfilled God’s purpose for his reign, God still found reason to indict him. Secondly, Genesis 49:1-2 and 8-12, II Samuel 5:1-5, I Chronicles 5:1-2, 11:1-3 and 28:1-5 and Acts 13:21-22 say—

1 Jacob called for his sons and said, Gather around, and I will tell you what will happen to you in the future: 2 Come together and listen, sons of Jacob. Listen to your father Israel. 8 "Judah, your brothers will praise you. You hold your enemies by the neck. Your brothers will bow down before you. 9 Judah is like a lion, killing his victim and returning to his den, Stretching out and lying down. No one dares disturb him. 10 Judah will hold the royal scepter, and his descendants will always rule. Nations will bring him tribute and bow in obedience before him. 11 He ties his young donkey to a grapevine, to the very best of the vines. He washes his clothes in blood-red wine. 12 His eyes are bloodshot from drinking wine, his teeth white from drinking milk.

1 Then all the tribes of Israel went to David at Hebron and said to him, "We are your own flesh and blood. 2 In the past, even when Saul was still our king, you led the people of Israel in
