About this ebook

If you want your life to be significant and mean something, the best thing you should do is to impact other peoples lives. Let this book influence you to be an actor instead of an on-looker or spectator in life. The author wants the reader to study closely the people who were and still are successful and happy, so that the reader will realize the faith exercised by these people, the failures they endured and the complexity of the process they went through to have acquired their accomplishments. You do not have to have the tangible possessions to know that you are wealthy, but if you feel and conduct yourself in the manner in which other successful and happy people conduct themselves, it will feel as if you do not even need the tangible things, because of your dominant state of your mental attitude towards success and happiness. Be afraid of giving up whenever faced with an impossible challenge, perhaps as far as your mental attitude is concerned. God is helping you, He is with you, He is guiding you and He will see you through. Dont be envious and jealous; rather admire people who are successful and happy in life. Life is a blessing.

    GOD AND MOTIVATION (INTEREST IS

A SOIL IN WHICH KNOWLEDGE GROWS)

LET US SHOW AN interest in the Word of God, inspiration, education and motivation. The Bible says, ‘Anyone who decides to do the will God can expect trouble from other people.’ Not everyone will like and appreciate you in this world you live in, but know this: to God you are special and He loves you. If He did not, then He would not have given His only-begotten Son to die for your sins on the cross. Robert M. West, in his book How to Know God’s Will, once said, ‘All believers have a vital role to play in people’s lives and an important job to do for their King Christ Jesus. God’s will for the saved is that we have been saved to serve—in the role and the place of God’s choosing. God had a great plan for each Bible figure and He has a plan for us, too.’

To please God, we have to show commitment and take what we are doing very seriously, whether it is the small things we do—perhaps like contributing to or helping an old man or woman who may perhaps be disabled and in need, asking for some help (or money, to be specific) with an empty container in their hands. Let us help them wholeheartedly with what little we have; it does not have to be a lot of money. And bear in mind that they appreciate what we are doing for them and, most important, so does God. Better is the hand that gives than the hand that gets at the expense of others, not at the service of others. It has been said, ‘How we respond to suffering reveals a lot about us: Though we cannot control what happens to us, we can control our reaction.’

We as human beings have instilled the tendency in our subconscious minds that in hard times, we tend to think that God has abandoned us, that He is somehow unfaithful to us or does not exist, which is never the case because, after all, He is life, and we are nothing without Him. ‘We have all been born into a sin-cursed world and face lives of continual trouble.’ That is what the Bible says, and it continues to say, ‘We have complicated our own lives with far too many bad decisions and yet the opportunities for making decisions just keep coming.’

The trials, temptations, and tribulations endured by Job in the Bible shows how humanity is born into a sin-cursed world. After all, naturally we are the descendants of Adam, but spiritually we are the descendants of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene. Hence we should be transformed by the renewing of our minds to prove that perfect, good acceptable will of the Lord. However, it is crucial that we take heed of the fact that God’s mercy and glory is everlasting. He proved it in the life of Job. God said in the book of Romans 8:18, ‘He considers that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.’ So we should ask God to make us patient and faithful servants for His glory to be revealed in us.

Young people must think about furthering their studies and refraining from being young parents. Being at a primary or secondary school and able to further your studies towards tertiary institutions, you should consider yourself blessed and fortunate because it is very rare that others get the opportunities you and I are privileged with—for instance, your fellow African brothers and sisters, particularly in your neighbouring countries. Therefore, it only depends on you as an individual whether you abuse that freedom or you use that to your advantage. Mr E. M. Bounds, in his book The Power of Prayer, once said, ‘When there are Delays and Denials in your life, know that God wants you to wait patiently so that He can strengthen your character.’ ‘Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you’ (Matthew 7:7). Whether our circumstances involve difficulty or blessing, Jesus Christ must be our life’s focus.

God always hears us whenever we are praying, and we should not forget to also give thanks whilst asking Him for things. It is not impossible to resist temptation, but it all depends on us as individuals whether we submit to temptation without even a fight from our side, because God did give us the platform to make our own choices voluntarily. We should ask by means of prayer that He does not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. God answers prayers. ‘Everything is possible for him who believes’ (Mark 9:23).

You never know what you have till it is gone. You should learn to appreciate everyone who has made and still make an impact in your life and thank them; let them know that you are grateful for what they did and still do in your life and how much you love them. Do not take your parents for granted; rather, give them the respect they deserve because you do not know what the future has in store for you. A person will perhaps say, ‘If only I had gotten the chance to say I love you or I am sorry, but it is too late.’ We are the only ones who can and should right our wrongs, and we should please God in everything we do because He is a god of mercy who forgives our sins. Let us all make God the director of our lives. His desire is to lead us in the right direction, but we do not give Him the space to do so; instead, we push Him away.

    DISTANT VISION

TALK AS IF YOU are already successful! Envision your destination nearer. Look back to where you come from. Dust yourself off, and be ready to receive your medal. Success is within your arm’s reach; just grab it with both hands. Talk about things that might seem unrealistic and unachievable to other people or, more specifically, to those who have the perception that it is impossible for you to achieve that, because of who you are, just an ordinary someone, and where you might be currently—for instance, a student in your first or second year or even someone who does not even have a college and university training, perhaps a high school dropout. Bear in mind that a world-renowned businessman and philosopher by the name of Jim Rohn once said, ‘Formal education will make you a living, but self-education will make you a fortune.’

In most cases, the people who tend to limit their abilities and imagination do not open their vision and see all that is around them. How limitless the opportunities are. So it is no lie that people tend to judge you based on your current status. Talk about achieving big things by feeding your subconscious mind with this maxim ‘Anything is possible in this world if you give it your all and believe.’ Your words are powerful, and they will either bring your victory or defeat. The things you should have an interest in talking about must be—the huge or big and impossible things, perhaps as far as those who limit their abilities are concerned. Even though your bank account might have nothing or only R100.00 currently, the point is that you do not have to have a lot of money to know that you are the best there is and will be in the entire world. And it is also necessary for you to always develop and instil in your subconscious mind positive self-talk. Talk about abundance, wealth, prosperity, success, happiness, healing, overcoming, and your destination as if you have already achieved these things. Feel it in your spirit and work every day towards your distant vision and be willing to pay the price that comes along with acquiring these things; be willing to bear a burden and distance yourself from your peer group.

Do not emulate the losers, either their attire, talk, or walk. Instead, your attire, talk, and walk must be like that of a prospect brother or sister, not a suspect brother or sister. Be presentable and give pride in the person you are. Walk with your head held up high, not with arrogance, but self-worth and never compromise your integrity for anything in the world because that is the value in who you are, how you view yourself, and how God views you. Life is what you make of it. We all make mistakes, but why do we have to make excuses for our mistakes? Instead, we should just man up and admit it to ourselves when we have messed up and try again in a different approach rather than complain and feel sorry for ourselves. Besides, in most instances, if that is the case, then the outcome will never be changed. You should always imagine in your mind the kind of life you want and believe it is possible for you to live that life with God by your side. You should be what you talk. You should be the provider to your loved ones. Work for them; be reliable for them to trust you and depend on you at times when they might be in need of something you are able to help them with.

Never forget to impart to those who must have it the bright vision and knowledge you got from God and the Word of God, especially the truth—be it through lyrics, sermons, seminars—because I believe it is not optional for you and everybody to expose your ears and eyes to motivation, inspiration, and the Word of God; it is compulsory. But you see, what I instilled in my subconscious and conscious mind then and now was that I did not have to have the money then to see the Mercedes Benz, mansion, and success because I already convinced my mind that I have these things and more, but I had to seek for these things for myself at the right place and time. I used to and still do convince my subconscious mind, which consists of thoughts and feelings, that I can and will have these things even within seconds, because I do have control over my own thoughts, and so do you.

And I also convinced and still convince my conscious mind, which consists of people, places, and circumstances, that I already have the above-mentioned things—though not tangibly but intangibly—because no matter how impossible my wishes seemed to be and still seem to be, I knew back then and even now that my God is a god who
