    Collies of every color. Each with their unique spirit. One in particular, started me on the journey of discovering just how special a dog could become in the human life.

    Introduction

    HAVE YOU EVER SERIOUSLY PONDERED whether you would ever be with your beloved dogs for eternity? Maybe you just hope that you will. Maybe you have resigned yourself to never seeing them again. What if you had overwhelming reassurance that those dogs or pets that you so treasured on earth were in heaven waiting for you? Would that give you hope? Would it ease the grief you feel over losing them?

    I wrote this book because I needed to know without a shadow of a doubt that I would be with my beloved doggie friends again and forever in heaven. I hadn’t really given it much thought until a few years ago. Maybe because I am getting older (and wiser), thinking of heaven more or maybe because of the powerful connections I have made with my furry friends in recent years. Whatever the reason, I felt strongly that this book was needed to help bring peace to the many people who can’t imagine heaven without their beloved dog friends.

    There are many well known theologians, authors and speakers who do believe that animals and thus, our pets, go to heaven, but I wanted the evidence to be so clearly found that it wouldn’t take a theologian to find it. So, I’d like to point out that I do not hold any theological degrees, yet God’s word offers us an abundance of reassurance that the average layperson can find when looking. I believe that is one of the greatest sources of comfort to those of us who love our dogs so dearly. The answer is there for us all.

    The first couple chapters of this book speak of how important our dogs are to us and how we can know we will be in heaven together when it’s our turn to go. If you are actively grieving and just want to start embracing the reassurance you need that your friend is safe in heaven, then feel free to begin with chapter 3. Through this book, for me, the issue is settled in my heart. I hope when you are done with this book, it will be for you too. And that you can say confidently, until heaven then, my friend, when I see you again.

    A Couple Of My Cherished Friends

    I have lost two dogs in recent years that I was strongly bonded with. Time does help, but it is still so hard to lose those we love, even our cherished dogs. In my upcoming book, Celebrate Your Pet - Turning Grief Into Sweet Memories, I share some ideas on how to enjoy the wonderful memories you have while you wait for your turn to join them in heaven.

    It is a strange, but awesome feeling to bond intimately with a dog. It is like your spirits are woven together in your soul and theirs. You are not just a part of each others life, but you are a part of each other. It is a connection that many non-dog owners don’t understand and even dog owners can miss sometimes. It is about a relationship with your dog, even a friendship. Relationships with people can differ for a variety of reasons. So it is with our dogs. The strength of a friendship forged takes commitment, compassion and work, whether human to human or human to dog.
