    Philosophers and the health conscious have always known that whatever ailments that affect us start from our gut. It does not matter what form of afflictions you may be dealing with at any point in time, getting to understand how your gut functions and taking time to care for it will go a long way in helping you back on the track to good health.

    When you are not physically and mentally balanced due to your everyday stressors, it can very much easily result in changes in your gut that are detrimental to your general well-being. Such stressors include and are not limited to poor nutritional practices, medications, and other associated medical conditions. Embracing wise eating habits and looking out for ourselves can go a long way in keeping your gut balanced and happy.

    Sitting at the dining table to eat is a practice we engage in daily and spend quite a lot of time in with our loved ones. However, for some of us, this straightforward and enjoyable act has become a battle which has denied you the gastronomic pleasures you once took for granted. This is a path you are not walking alone because it has become quite common due to our changing lifestyles from what it used to be back in the days.

    Having a functional and healthy digestive system is the building block of a healthy life. You can efficiently manage the side effects of this condition but getting your gut back in full working condition takes a lot of work. So before we delve into some simple guides on making your stomach happy, I will take you on a hike through your gastrointestinal tract and some bumps you can easily sidestep.

    Understanding how the gut works are significant for maintaining a smooth functioning of the gut system. The gut consists of the mouth and teeth, the esophagus, the stomach, small intestine, the colon or large intestine, pancreas, liver and the gallbladder. The gallbladder functions in the storage of concentrates. It squeezes the concentrated bile into the small intestine to aid digestion after a meal. The liver receives blood from the gut and synthesizes bile, stores nutrients and also functions in the production of proteins. The synthesis is essential especially regarding blood clotting. Other duties of the liver include metabolizing drugs, removing toxins and filtering the blood.

    The pancreas works in breaking down carbohydrates, fat, and protein. It contains significant and influential enzymes that help the digestive gland to secret alkaline juice that helps with optimal gut function. Apart from the digestive role of the pancreas,
