About this ebook

One Minute Faith: Encouragement for a Hungry Soul:

This book will help you to undertake an active role in your fellowship with others. It will also help with trusting in the Bible, and in having faith in Jehovah God. It’s a resource that can help brighten your day through the use of comforting little passages of scripture, and creative inspirations. It can also be used as a daily, or weekly, reflection and devotional. It’s filled with words of encouragement and anecdotes designed to challenge you in your walk of grace, by encouraging you to engage your faith through acts of kindness, discipleship and faith in God.

It is not the Bible, but it draws from biblical teachings, principles, and concepts that help encourage, motivate, educate and foster a desire to learn more about the promises that the Lord Thy God has made to his people and to those of us who have been engrafted into His Holy Kingdom. In the process of reading this book, you will be encouraged, which may energize you to get more involved in taking an active role in your faith walk. You may even find yourself beginning to encourage others by sharing some of the short messages on faith, and worship with others.

Remember, it’s not a substitute for the Bible, but it is a reminder to take a moment to reflect on the Good News of the Gospel, and on the simple truth that Jesus Saves! He took our sins, trespasses and iniquities, and carried it all to the cross; bearing the weight of the world upon Himself, so that we would have a chance at everlasting lasting life, in the presence of an Almighty God. This book reminds us to tell others about the price that was paid for our salvation, and to help others to see that we have a Lord, who truly loves us more than we love ourselves. He is the Way, the Truth and the “Life” (John 14:6).So, if you want to encourage yourself or others, then this book is for YOU! It was designed to be an easy read that can be shared over lunch, dinner or as you are riding along in your car or truck. Don’t miss out on a great opportunity to buy it as a gift, for birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays, or just for the fun and pleasure of reading an encouraging word.

I will tell you that, of my friends in the faith who’ve read it, they loved it… and a great many of them have shared it with others in the faith… Sometimes they shared it with those who were not even faithful believers, who simply needed to be encouraged, and reminded that they are not alone in their walk through life’s situations, circumstances, trials, and tribulations, and it helped. So, the simple answer is this… we all need encouragement on some level, and this book is extremely helpful at getting some positive messages into the hands and the hearts of others. So, be encouraged in your faith and grace walk, and just know that you are not alone!

Hebrews 13:5 KJV: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, norforsake thee.

    INTRODUCTION

How this Book Came About: History of the Book

One day, in a God-ordained moment, and quite unexpectedly, one of the Elders of the church we attended came up to me and asked me if I would do him a favor, or at least consider doing what he was about to ask me. He was the leader of the men’s ministry, and I was a member of that ministry, so I immediately thought to myself, but didn’t say anything out loud, that I would certainly attempt to do whatever he asked of me if I could. I had known this elder for around five years and I knew him to be a man of character, integrity, and honor; one who diligently chased after the Lord with all of his heart. I knew this by the way he lived his life. I knew he and his family were a faithful crew and that he could be trusted, but I admit I was a little nervous about what he was about to say.

Well, he said to me that the Associate Pastor who had started this column the year before, had recently passed away (was now deceased). We all knew and loved this associate pastor and wanted to honor his memory and what he started by continuing the legacy of writing and sending out some words of encouragement. Well, since he had recently passed away and was in heaven with the Lord, the Elder needed someone of character, who he knew in his heart was capable of the task, who was filled with the Holy Spirit, and trustworthy; someone who would not lead the people astray; to take the reins and continue to write a weekly, minute-long column for men that would be encouraging, insightful, filled with the wisdom of God, and edifying to the men of God at the ministry.

I thought to myself, Are you sure you want me to do this? Then I thought, Wow! What a huge honor, blessing, and commitment this was and would be going forward. But then I thought, Since this is something that God directed him to ask me to do, God must have a plan to work through me to make this happen, therefore, in faith, I must leave this in God’s hands to make it happen.

I told him yes, I would do it, but that I may not write like the associate pastor who came before, but that I would do my best to serve the people (men) of God, and to endeavor to let God use me to make this happen. Well, after I committed to this, I got excited and a little bit nervous about doing this column. I wondered about how many people would see it and what they might say about my attempts at writing a men’s ministry column (or any column for that matter), every week. Nevertheless, faithfully, I put all that aside and went to work on writing the words of encouragement column under the leading of the Holy Spirit and the knowledge that God said He would never leave me or forsake me. As time went on, each time I was led to write one, I began to grow more and more confident about writing this column and the words of encouragement, and so I did it in faith and hoped that it would turn out okay. This was to be a weekly column, which was designed to simply encourage men, but as I proceeded forward, the Lord gave me some prayers to include in them and to issue weekly challenges to the men from time to time. These challenges would go out to whoever else would read this column as well. So, I did as I was told by the Spirit, and started issuing some challenges to the readers of this column.

I later found out that not only were men reading this column — their wives were too; and that they were sending it to their friends and overseas to people who were deployed. I was so amazed that the Lord used this column to touch so many lives. I was in awe because He touched the ones I could never touch on my own or had even thought about reaching in this way.

Now, today, my friends and family thought it would be a wise decision to share these messages and insights with you and anybody else who would consider reading this manuscript. Perhaps, by the spirit of the Lord, these words can turn a broken-hearted person back to the Lord or set some captives free from sin. I don’t know or have the answers, but the Lord does. I hope this manuscript encourages you and others, and becomes a light to your path and a lamp to your feet when you need it. I hope you enjoy reading this and may God get all of the glory, honor, and praise for this effort.

It’s truly and honor to serve Him, in Jesus’s name I pray, Amen!

    CHAPTER ONE

    GOD LOVES YOU

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

    1 JOHN 4:16 (KJV)

    God Is Love

G od loves you; Period! Sometimes, it can be hard to imagine that God loves you when you are going through some rough times in your life, but He does. He is there when things are good and especially when things aren’t so good. The Bible tells us to count it all joy when ye fall into diverse temptation (James 1:2-3 KJV), and that no weapon formed against thee shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). But it’s hard to see that love and protection when the trials of life are upon us. Nevertheless, He loves us and desires the best for us, but because of sin and the spiritual blindness it may cause (2 Corinthians 4:4), we can’t and don’t always see how wonderful God is.

Sometimes, we wonder why there’s sickness and death in the world and we blame God. But the truth is we should be blaming the enemy, Satan, because he is the one who brought sin, sickness, and death amongst mankind (Romans 5:12 KJV). Let us not forget that Adam was a victim too!

God loves us and has made a way for us. He proved His love for us by sending His only begotten Son so that we may not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). The Bible says that God loved us even while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8 KJV). So we didn’t have to change a thing or try to prove to God that we are worthy of His love; He simply loves us and desires that we love Him too (1 John 4:19). Love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8 NIV).

Therefore, when you feel a little low and wonder if anybody cares about you or loves you, remember that God is love and that He loves you just where you are. Come to Him in humbleness of heart and prayer, and He will hear your prayers. The Bible says in Psalms 51:17 (KJV): "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." So He knows when you are low and in need of a touch. So don’t hesitate, send up a prayer today and watch what God can do in your life today.

    Unbroken

This is a message for those who need to touch the Master’s robe:

2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV), "For we walk by faith, not by sight."

The Lord tells us in His Word that He is able to mend our brokenness. In the pursuit of that healing, He has many things available to Him. Some of those things available to Him are miracles, anointing power, revelation, grace, mercy, salvation, angels, and His Word, all of which are available to meet our needs. The Bible says in Psalm 147:3 (NKJV), He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. This tells me that He will heal whatever aches our hearts and the emotions that may be tied to it. We simply have to trust and give it over to His delivering power.

The Bible says in Psalm 73:26 (NKJV), My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. This reminds us that, though we get weak, we still have a future to look forward to; a bright and shining future with God at the center of our lives. He says that He is our portion forever, and therefore we must remember that our problems won’t last forever.

We are reminded in John 14:27(NKJV), Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. So, we have a reason to be at peace even in the midst of trouble, trials, and temptations. His supernatural peace is there for us, but we have to receive it. We have a choice to make — peace or worry… choose peace!

Lastly, He gives us His permission to give our fears, burdens, and anxiety over to Him. The Lord said in 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. So again, release your anxiety and turn it over to the power of the Lord. He can handle all of the things that our shoulders aren’t built to carry. He can handle it for you, but you have to allow Him to. An important part of this is remembering that this takes you having a right relationship with Him. Yes, relationships are very important to God, and He desires one with you!

So remember what it says in the Book of Matthew, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28 NIV). Are you ready to rest? Remember 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV), For we walk by faith, not by sight.

    In His service,

    Brother Paige

    Good News: Jesus Saves!

Jesus saves! This is a simple statement but a profound truth — Jesus saves!

There are many people out there who think that there is another way to salvation or another way to get into heaven, but the bottom line is this… Jesus saves. Scripture reminds us of this fact in Acts 4:12 (KJV), which says: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. That seems pretty clear to me.

However, scripture also reminds us in the Book of Romans of the sacrifice made for our salvation. Romans 5:6-8 (KJV) says, "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Yes, while we were (are) yet sinners, Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross so that we would have a chance at everlasting life and salvation. There is
