Dedicated to my parents,
Whom love me in despite of everything, and ever.
1
GOD is the absolute peace, the opposite is absolute war, and it has to be, by force, the DEVIL"
The phrase, written in Berlin Sans FB, one of my favorites because of its roundness and the way it highlights capital letters and accents, allowed a big silence behind it, silence where I could imagine my mind as a sea, where I would dive in looking for words; I needed those whom capriciously placed would grant me the grace to present in an accurate way the very abstract concepts my soul would be delighted playing with. It’s always entertaining to play with the abstract, but it happens to end as a big effort to explain it.
As my mind used to juggle, the words chosen to open my conference, were waiting stoically in the big screen at the auditorium, they to looked beautiful and silly, at the time they were judged for hundreds of eyes avid for answers.
Words are an extension of the person who produces them, they’re a physical part of one’s being, as a part of one’s body; even more, because they carry our message. And to me, my messages always seemed like that: beautiful and stubborn. I used to adore that minimal description my father used to make about my character, and I would always do my best to print it in my words and actions.
Those hundreds of eyes I’ve mentioned before belonged to the most atheist people in our country, although there was never missing an atheist pair of eyes coming from even more remote places just to keep starring at my mouth and wait for a new idea coming out at the ACON (Atheist Congress of Nicaragua).
My conference was, formally, the closing of the activities of the ACON. It had always been that way, since I had been the organizer of this event since its inception, 17 years ago. Back then we used to be about eight tens of people gathered in one day and, because I’m a woman, many understood it was a feminist act. So, 95 percent of the attendees were women, whom expected from me to give them an advice about how to beat the opposite sex. Nothing more ridiculous, especially because I have never considered myself sexist and, well, it would be useless to say that I was about to give up. But I didn’t, instead, I made myself sure that the conference topics would be increasingly clear and I also invited a couple of great personalities whom came from Mexico and Argentina. They loved the idea, it happened to evolve in 6 years to a great event in the Americas and only three years later it was what it is today: a week-long celebration that hosts conferences, workshops, round tables, book presentations and even exhibitions in three venues other than Managua; all of them crowded of both sexes atheists, all this in a
