The Prep and the Punk - First Time Lesbian Romance - Shannon Ellison

    The Prep and the Punk

Emma Lee Rose seemed like a model college student. Her parents definitely thought so. She was valedictorian in her class, had a 4.0 GPA, and was dating the captain of the football team. She had been rooming with her high school friend, Carrie, for two years now, and had loved it. But suddenly that changed, when Carrie dropped out quite suddenly. Carrie’s mother had passed away suddenly, leaving the young woman completely devastated and unable to continue in her studies. Emma hugged her tight and wished her well as she left. She had roomed with Carrie since they had both started school here though, so now she was slightly nervous. Unless she wanted to pay the money to have a room of her own, she would have a new roommate. It could be anyone. It could be some punk goth kid with piercing in their tongue and gauges in their ears. Gauges totally freaked her out.

Naturally, as summer ended she headed back to classes for the fall semester. She looked at her familiar dorm room door. With a deep breath she opened it, and saw that half of the room was covered with big, bright and distracting posters. She tucked a piece of her long dark hair behind her ear. Oh hey chica! she said. Name’s Tara Stevens, nice to meet you.

She hugged Emma and kissed her cheek. Emma’s face turned slightly pink with embarrassment. This caused the pink-haired girl to laugh.

You crushing on me already sweetie? she asked with a big obnoxious grin.

N...No..! Emma stammered. She scowled and composed herself. You just surprised me is all. I’m... I’m Emma, and I’m not gay.

I am, Tara said, sitting on her bed, crossing her legs and looking up at the other girl. Does that bother you?

No, Emma said. I have a boyfriend. Just keep your junk on your side!

She looked uncomfortable and rubbed her arm as she spoke.

Can do, love, Tara said cheerily. She put on headphones and began to dance about as she decorated. She hummed along and sang little snippets that Emma couldn’t understand. It sounded like some other language and it was greatly annoying and distracting.

Excuse me, she said. She received no reply so she said again, Excuse me!

Tara took her headphones off and looked at her.

What’s up? she asked, smiling obliviously.

You’re going to blow out your ears listening to music that loud. And I find it very distracting, as is your entire half of the room. Emma said bluntly.

Sorry, Sugar Bee. I’ll turn it down, but the posters stay up. Gotta see my loves, Tara said before lovingly caressing a poster of G-Dragon. Emma raised an
