      Chapter 1 Divorce is Never Easy

      In 2008 my sons mother Nora served me with court papers advising me she would be attempting to gain full custody of our son Isaiah.

      How could I be a weekend dad? I could not imagine not seeing my son, I was hurt and angry. How did we get here? Nora had given me countless cards stating, I was a great father. I began crying and asking God how am I going to afford a lawyer ? They always seem to never ask the right questions. This is my son, what am I going to do? As I arrived home I heard the Holy Spirit tell me, this is why you are going to do it. What I thought, how can this be? I cannot do this, and I heard again all the time you have spent as a Police Officer has prepared you . I sat back and the revelation began, it would be the same as when I would interview someone and now I would have the opportunity to ask the questions. I asked a friend of mine Jared, a process server to help me file the proper court documents . I began writing down all the questions and counter questions her attorney would have. I went through countless scenarios trying to think of any and all situations I could possibly encounter. When the court date arrived my friend let me know he could not go with me . I felt fear began to creep in slowly I heard you are going to fail, you can't do this alone. I smiled and thanked Jared for all his help and walked out of his office. The courthouse was a block from his office, as I stood looking down the alley way it was hidden by the overcast shadow of the sun. However my eyes were drawn to the courthouse where the sun was brightly shining. I thought it may look dark but there is victory in the end, I took a deep breath and replied okay God I get it, it is only me and you" . As I arrived in the courtroom Nora was already seated with her attorney. I sat on the opposite table with all my notes I had prepared and silently praying asking God for wisdom. When the judge arrived she
