      Did you enjoy your lunch? I ask my wife as she walks through the front door.  Jessica and Kaitlyn decided to get together today, a Saturday, to talk about things that have been going on since they last got together.

      It was good, she replies coyly.  Jessica walks quickly through the living room to the bedroom without saying anything more.

      I shake my head.  What’s going on, Jess?  What happened?

      Nothing, my wife replies from the open door of the bedroom as she removes her jacket.  It was just a good lunch, that’s all.  It is rare that Jessica comes home from seeing a friend that she does not stop and share practically everything that was said or done.  Though in the past I have dreaded the hour-long synopsis of any conversation my wife had had with a friend, I see her current quietness as a sign that something has not gone the way it should have gone. 

      Jess, really; what’s going on?  There is something wrong, I can sense it in you.  I wait patiently on the sofa as I watch her peek out from around the bedroom doorway.  You know you can tell me.  I smile at her as I try to gauge what must have happened.  Perhaps there was a rude comment made by Kaitlyn toward Jessica?  It’s been my experience that my wife is easily offended by other’s words when she really should not be so offended.  Or, maybe the marriage that I predicted would last only three years is already falling apart?  That must be it.  Kaitlyn’s and Preston’s marriage must be in peril. 

      Jessica walks slowly into the living room and avoids looking right at me as she sits down on the sofa beside me.  I told her, is all my wife says as she continues to look away.

      Told Kaitlyn what? I ask while shaking my head.  I can’t help to chuckle a little as I put my arm around Jessica’s shoulders. 

      My wife swallows hard as she slowly turns her face so that she can look into my eyes.  I told her about us.

      "About us?  What did you tell her about us?  My mind searches for what it could be that she has shared with her friend.  There’s not very much that I can think of that would be an embarrassment for either of us.  At least, that’s my thought at first before seeing the expression on Jessica’s face.  You didn’t tell her about that, did you?  She nods her head slowly.  Fuck, honey.  What were you thinking?"

      I don’t know, she says as her face turns pale.  Kaitlyn and I have been best friends for a very long time, so I guess it came so naturally just to let her in on what I have been up to.  She tells me so much, after all.

      Shit!  My heart pounds hard inside my chest as I imagine what detail Jessica has offered up to her old friend.  I won’t be able to show my face in their house again.  We can never go back over there.

      Matt, it’s not that bad, Jessica replies.  Kaitlyn won’t say anything to Preston.

      The hell she won’t, I reply with a scowl on my face.  "She is probably sitting next to him right now having the same fucking conversation as we are, Jess.  They are newlyweds.  They probably get off on this sort of thing.  I feel my mouth become dry as my body shakes.  I can’t believe you actually told her."

      I’m sorry, Matt.  I know this disappoints you...

      "Disappoints?  Is that what you thought the feeling would be when you told her over lunch about us having threesomes?"  I shake my head before getting up from my place on the sofa and looking down at her.  You can’t just go and share these sorts of things with other people.  There is no telling how she or Preston will use that information, Jess.  What if it gets out to our friends that we are screwing other people?

      Honey, that won’t happen.  Jessica reaches a hand out to me.  Although at first I resist taking it, I eventually give in to my natural inclination to react favorably to my wife and have a seat once again beside her.  Kaitlyn has a friend who is in a stale marriage and she gave her our names and my phone number.

      She has already started telling others about us?

      No, Kaitlyn isn’t telling her everything.  Her friend’s name is Erika and she wants her to meet us.

      Why?

      Erika wants to do something to liven up her marriage and Kaitlyn thinks that what we have right now is exactly what she and her husband need in order to get things back into shape.

      We are not fucking marriage counselors, Jess.  We can’t get involved in someone else’s marital woes.

      I close my eyes and swallow hard as I think about the number of people who now know about our private sex life.  If I were to have my way, not even one of our friends or acquaintances would know what we have been up to, especially the threesome part, but Jessica is trusting of her friends’ abilities to be reasonably quiet about anything she tells them.  I am not as trusting.
