Onward Journey: Seeking the Divine
()
About this ebook
-from the Prologue.
Over the course of a long, rich life and legal career, John Rehm realizes there is much more meaning-and joy and pain-than mere reason can convey. Attentive to the variety of his "peak experiences" and glimpses of the divine, Rehm discovers a renewed love of and trust in life: the more he acknowledges its polarities and mystery, the more he understands. Simple couplets describe the life of Jesus, torturous poems reflect lives of the saints, and charming fables give us closely observed glimpses of the freedom that often only comes with age. Rehm's words and truth telling transport us on our own onward journey of seeking the Divine.
John Bartram Rehm
John Bartram Rehm was from 1962 to 2000 an attorney representing both the government and private interests championing the cause of liberal trade among nations. After his conversion to Christ he completed a Master of Theological Studies at Wesley Theological Seminary to help him understand the significance of his experience. He is married to NPR talk-show host Diane Rehm with whom he co-authored Toward Commitment: A Dialogue about Marriage (Knopf/Random House, 1992).

Onward Journey - John Bartram Rehm
Acknowledgments
With deepest gratitude, I wish to recognize the contributions of a number of persons to the creation of this book.
One of the earliest readers of the book was The Rev. Dr. James D. Anderson, author and theologian. The Very Rev. Martha J. Horne, former Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary, referred me to Richard Bass, Director of Publishing, The Alban Institute, who recommended that I speak with a renowned editor, Ulrike Guthrie, with whom I have been privileged to work over the last year. She proved to be not only a superb editor, in all respects, but a trusted friend and guide.
That path of progress would never have begun without the strength and caring of my dear friend and Godmother, The Rt. Rev. Jane Holmes Dixon.
Finally, the book would not have come into being without the love and support of my wife, Diane. She believed in me, especially in those times of self-doubt.
