Goodbyes come too soon

"A Soldier's Christmas" by Barbara McMahon is a sweet, clean, and heartfelt romance. This is soldier Josh Marquette and Cassie Smith's story.Josh was being deployed and would not be able to take his dog. If he doesn't find someone to care for his dog while he is deployed, then he will have to find another home for his dog.Through friends Cassie found out about Josh needing someone to care for his dog. Cassie and Josh met and she agreed to care for his dog while he was deployed for a year. During the time Josh was deployed they used Skype so that Josh could check on Maggie, his dog. The Skype sessions also became times where they could just talk and keep up with what was going on in each other's life. The year is up and now it is time for Josh to pick up his dog. Cassie is going to miss the dog and the Skype sessions with Josh. Or will she have to say goodbye to them?A quick read that is clean and sweet. I enjoy Barbara McMahon's stories.I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is a fast, short story by author Barbara McMahon who writes wonderful books. This one is no exception. The only complaint I have is that it was too short. I wanted it to go on and on. It also plays a special part in my heart since my son-in-law just came back from Afghanistan. The story is about Cassie Smith who takes care of Josh Marquett’s german shepherd, while he is deployed. He comes home for a wedding just before Christmas. Cassie has fallen in love with the dog and has really grown to like the Skype conversations between her and Josh. Since he can’t take the dog where he is staying, he gets the opportunity to spend more time with Cassie and when she asks him to stay over Christmas, he says yes. I’ll just leave it at that so you are not spoiled by the magic. I certainly recommend this wonder Christmas book.
