About this ebook

It's time to lay all the cards on the table...

Detective Levi Abrams and PI Dominic Russo are reunited and more committed to each other than ever, but they can’t truly move forward with their lives until the serial killer who’s been tormenting them is behind bars. When a secret burial site is discovered in the desert with the remains of the Seven of Spades’s earliest victims, that goal finally seems within reach.

But just as the net is tightening, the neo-Nazi militia Utopia launches their master plan with a devastating act of terror that changes the landscape of Las Vegas forever. As Levi and Dominic scramble to prevent the city’s destruction, they’re opposed by treacherous forces that propel them toward catastrophe. In the end, Levi’s fate may rest in the hands of the very killer he’s been hunting.

The race to save Sin City is on, and these players are going for broke. No matter how hopeless things seem, as long as they’re together and they’ve got a chip to play and a chair to sit in, they’re still in the game.

Another good series that I really, really hate to see come to an end. Those who have followed Levi and Dominic through the last four books won't be disappointed by the 5th. Dominic and Levi are back together and determined to make it last between them. This final book is like watching a well-made cops and robbers "shoot ‘em" up movie complete with dramatic explosions...huge gun battles...exciting other moments...and even some comic dog relief; Needless to say, it’s thrilling, edgy and suspenseful. All the questions are answered, everything that was a mystery is a mystery no longer. What we have left are people who are trying to survive the loss...the lies...and the guilt. Hope that somehow, there is some way that we can meet Levi and Dominic again. Oh... I was never right about who the seven of Spades was. Never would have guessed it in a thousand years:)

OMG, OMG, OMG! I now have a book hangover *grin*

I'm glad I waited until all the instalments were available as the suspense was killing me otherwise. But now I've read them all, I'm sad it's over!

I can't begin to tell you how these characters and this story sucked me in. Not just the suspense, or the "who-did-it" element, the MCs lives, their friends, everything just worked for me. I was a little chuffed to realise that my suspicion in book 1 was correct, but the suspense was so well done that you were truly guessing until the very end.

Please keep writing Ms Kingsbridge, I need more of your kind of magic!

If you ask me, I found this series at exactly the right time: after its conclusion. How did the rest of you do that? And I didn't actually find this series. I watched Caz's updates on this book, and when I expressed that these kinds of books freak me out and I typically shy away from these as a genre, she still encouraged me. So I heeded her recommendation....

My complaint about romantic suspense is often how one isn't well balanced with the other. I rarely come across one that makes me happy -- and I might be able to name on exactly two fingers the ones I have actually enjoyed. I need the romance to heighten the suspense and the suspense to heighten the romance, I think, and I still want crazy good characters.

Giving him the side-eye, Levi said, “You wanted to surprise your homicide-detective boyfriend whose paranoia is at an all-time high after being stalked by a serial killer for a year?”
    “. . .Yes?”

I don't have that complaint here.. This book, since it is the conclusion, is more action than suspense. The suspense wasn't unfair, it wasn't twisty-it was right out there. I like books that are fair. More time between books might have increased doubt though.
and since I knew I was right in book 3 or 4...And yet, still, it was fun and exciting read

I often have trouble in particular with contemporary suspense because I get really tired of, well, reality, and this isn't what I want to focus on in modern times. Victims are often women--and in this sense, this series reads a bit like Dexter. It's ahhh, errr, it's more palatable. In this series, Kingsbridge did more than that. She mixed in neo-nazi movements and really upped the ante so well that I started to feel the reality creep in to an uncomfortable degree, like I didn't know who I was anymore. And isn't that kind of brilliant? This really pushed boundaries for me as a reader. Also, I won't lie, the reality of it was uncomfortable. There were quite a few situations that ring true here and worldwide, of hate crimes and terrorism big and small, so instead of escaping, this was more like being doused with reality. It was highly entertaining and superbly well done, but there was a lot of reality, and at times that made me ache.

But so did the characters. To carry off a 5-book series and keep me interested in the main relationship arc? *Standing Ovation* I get tired of nearly every couple in multi-book arcs. Dominic and Levi are so magnetic, imperfect, and lovable that I know they'll live on for me as a best couple.

IF there's a weakness, it's the middle of this book where it transitioned into a high-intensity action movie, and that I have trouble with the utilitarian mindset no matter the situation.

That I could be profoundly in love with a series that features an ex-military hero alongside a detective hero, along with the focus of relationship and serial killer over 5 books is phenomenal. That I binged them in 3 days is miraculous. If one decides to go forward with this series, do so with caution, because there should probably be 5 pages of TWs, and yet, it's written in a way that doesn't get bogged down unless it's supposed to. Also, set aside a good bit of time. This isn't one where you sneak in to read a few chapters every so often.

Very impressive. You could read this for any reason, but I can tell you it wouldn't have worked for me without this very lovable, diverse cast of characters, particularly the two heroes.
