A winner of numerous short story competitions, her work was area short listed in Waterstone's Wow Factor story competition. Took first prize in Nottingham County Council short story competition with a story called "Irish Mouse Tales," which was published by Gypsy Shadow Publishing as an eBook in July of 2012. She has had her poetry and short stories read on local radio. Violetta is a prolific writer of short fiction, having written and published more than 40 short stories with Gypsy Shadow.

    Chapter One

    Kelly was the luckiest woman in the world, and she knew it. After a string of affairs, none that had lasted for more than twelve months, she had finally met the right man.

    Thomas Brent was tall, dark, handsome, intelligent and successful—the type of man you only met once in a lifetime—or so she was led to believe.

    Kelly herself was a confident, astute adult with an enquiring mind and quick wit. A petite, blue-eyed blonde with more than her fair share of good looks. Her first meeting with Thomas had been on the train from London to Nottingham. After a tiring day in the big city Kelly had caught the train to make her way home.

    The train was crowded. Her arms laden with parcels and shopping bags, unable to find a seat, she had propped herself wearily against a carriage door.

    One of the passengers, on seeing her plight, stood and offered her his seat. It was Thomas Brent.

    On arriving at their stop, the man helped her down onto the platform and offered her a ride to wherever she was going in the taxi he had pre booked. At first, Kelly declined his offer, but on learning they were travelling to the same district, Wollaston, she agreed to share a ride.

    When she arrived at the house she rented with an old school friend, they shook hands and said goodnight, expecting never to see one another again. But it would seem fickle fate had other plans for the couple, and it was less than two weeks before they met up again.

    Kelly worked at a branch of a well-known bank in the city centre, and it was she Thomas Brent spoke to about opening an account. I would also like to talk to someone in authority who can give me advice on investing money. In the expectations of achieving a profit, obviously, he
