Those who care about her are confused and concerned as she takes this journey into a territory of life unknown to her. Suddenly, love knows no gender as Megan finds her heart lies with someone no one ever expected. Chapter 1: Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Metal clanging in the early morning hours was never a good way to wake up. Megan tossed and turned in her bed wondering if the noises she heard were actually happening or just the sound of her dreams. Glass breaking was the earth shattering jolt she needed to get out of bed. With her phone in one hand, and dildo she kept in her nightstand in the other, she crept out of her bedroom to investigate the noises. It wasn’t until she tip toed by her large mirror that Megan caught a glimpse of what she looked like. Her long brown hair was tossed up in a messy bun, that wasn’t the cute kind at all. She still donned the ice pack mask covering her eyes to reduce the puffiness after another night of spontaneous crying bouts; a mask which sat just above the moisturizer cream covering her cheeks. Her favorite cotton robe stained with days old pasta sauce and cartoon cow pajamas that would put mummies to shame. She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at her tattered appearance and the dildo, the ribbed neon pink vibrating dildo, was the cherry on top of this catastrophe.

Well, if you don’t scare them half to death with it at least you can bring them to climax fairly quickly, she said to herself with a chuckle. The task at hand refocused her as she walked toward the room where the sounds were coming from hoping it wasn’t a burglar. She’d been through enough these last few months and to get robbed at the ass crack of dawn was not on her list of things to recoup from. The voice wafted through the doors of her study, trickling down the hall to her ears. She breathed a huge sigh of relief as she approached the sounds which had woken her up earlier than she’d anticipated.

What the hell do you think you’re doing here? Megan questioned her visitor. Jacob Black stood at a meager 5’8", not too much taller than her. His blonde hair and hazel eyes used to make her swoon, but now all they did was make her cry. They were often filled with an unexplained anger towards her. She was tired and in no mood to deal with her ex-husband before she’d had her coffee.

Jacob was sweaty and still in his gym attire when he popped up to visit the townhouse he had once shared with Megan. He was determined to get whatever he wanted out of it since she got to keep it in the divorce settlement. All he did was glare at Megan’s shoddy appearance with a few folders in his hand and his mouth partially opened. He was speechless and a bit embarrassed for her.

I know this seems a bit off, Megan motioned up and down to her attire, But I asked you a question! It’s five in the morning, Jacob. What the hell do you think you’re doing?

He shook his head as whatever anger he was holding onto resurfaced, Did you or did you not tell my lawyers that I could come at any time to get my things and anything else I wanted out of here?!

I did, but, she instantly regretted being so nice during the negotiations.

But nothing! You wanted the house so you got the goddamn house! You said I could take whatever I wanted! You said you didn’t care. But, here we are! What did you think you were going to do with that thing? Butt fuck the robber? Go to bed Mack. I’ll be out of here as soon as I’m done! he shouted.

You don’t get to call me that anymore! the tears welled up under Megan’s eye mask. You are allowed to come and go but you know you’re supposed to tell me so we can avoid moments like these! I don’t want or need to be here when you are! You’re so angry with me when this is what you wanted! You asked for this divorce! You cheated on me! You moved out! You agreed to let me keep this house! If you wanted it, you should have said something!

Jesus Christ, Megan! Jacob screamed slamming the documents in his hand down, This isn’t about the damn house! This is about me needing to get my shit and get the fuck out of here! Just go back to bed and leave me alone!

You’re doing this on purpose! It isn’t enough that you broke me, Megan pulled her mask off, But you have to come in, scare me half to death, and then when I ask that you give me the simplest courtesy of calling before you come you chop my head off! You show up here before the sun is even up just to ruin my day!

Jacob paused in his moment of anger taking the situation in. His shoulders slumped and he softened his tone, I swear I didn’t want it to be like this. I didn’t want you to get hurt. I just came here looking for my passport. I apologize for waking you. You’re right. I’ve been handling this all wrong since our relationship went south. I’m just a little frantic these days. Melanie is pushing things full steam ahead with our marriage and we’re leaving tomorrow night for this trip. I couldn’t find my passport so I just assumed it was here somewhere. I really didn’t mean to snap at you.

Megan sucked her teeth as she walked by Jacob to her book shelf that was in disarray. She pushed one shelf in toward the wall until she heard the clicking noise, to open up a panel that hid a wall safe. She put the combination in and opened the small chamber. The envelope she pulled out of it was thin with every document he needed organized inside of it.

All of your important documents are in there. Your birth certificate, passport, marriage license, the tears began to fall once more, Just leave. Don’t bother cleaning up. I wanted to renovate this room anyway. Megan walked out of her study leaving Jacob with the mess he created. She hated crying in front of him, especially now since he was the cause of most of her tears. The look of pity on his face was unbearable. And to mention his approaching nuptials while the ink was still fresh on their divorce papers … Megan thought that was just cruel. Her mind kept sifting through her memories in an attempt to remember what she did that mandated she be treated this way.

Tossing her mask and the dildo on her bed, Megan headed into the bathroom to wash her face. Her ears kept searching for the sound of Jacob leaving but there was nothing. The ritual every morning went the same and she wouldn’t change it just because of this one disruption. Jacob stood just outside the door watching her.

I don’t think your fiancée would appreciate you watching me get ready for work, Megan told him through her reflection in the mirror. She was done speaking directly to him.

My fiancée is the one who sent me here this early, Jacob smiled. Megan wanted to smile back but it was too late for banter.

Eventually, you’re going to have to tell me what you really want, Megan said to him, I don’t want to fight with you. I don’t want to fight with Mel. I want you to be happy, even if it’s not with me. The only question I ever had was what did I do to you?

Jacob’s face twisted in confusion, You never did anything. I mean, you did everything a wife was supposed to, but that was it. We stopped having fun. We stopped talking. We got so caught up in work that we weren’t the fun people we used to be. Everything was beginning to feel so forced and I couldn’t take it anymore.

I would have tried to be better if you had told me before you sought the services of another woman, Megan hissed. It dawned on her that she shouldn’t feel bad. She should feel pissed, "But you know what? It’s too early for this discussion. I don’t want to talk to you anymore. There’s obviously no love left and I don’t want your pity. I’ll be fine and you can go fuck Melanie and yourself. Now get out of my house Jacob."

It wasn’t anything you did Mack. It wasn’t going to work no matter what you did or didn’t do. I was done with this relationship long before you were, and I’m sorry I didn’t leave sooner. I shouldn’t have dragged you through this process and I should have never let you believe that any of this could have been prevented. I’m an angry person when I’m with you because I feel guilty for how I treated you. I have a hard time controlling my emotions because the anger is mixed with all of the good feelings that I used to feel with you. I still miss you. We used to talk every day and you actually listened to me, Jacob sighed almost as if he was second guessing his current relationship status.

Please just go, Megan started crying again. She hated when he tried to make her feel better. It only made her feel foolish. She wished she would have accepted the signs of what was going on with them when they first started flashing. The front door slammed closed letting Megan know her
